Dakota looked dead serious for one moment. Her young hazel eyes narrowing dangerously,"And if we do... I'll shoot them in the face faster this time, so you or any of my new family don't get hurt this time."
The follow up questions and Shadow snapped Koda back from her mild drift into fantasyland. She smiled, "Sounds like a yes to me too!" Glancing into the cart too, she went over what she managed to find and collect vs a mental shopping list. Some human food, though not much since looters had been over the Wal-Mart before them. Her biggest finds had been in what others would overlook as not necessary. The creative outlet and mental health benefit that coloring and drawing had given both her and Clem in the past year or so of their current nomadic life, was all Dakota needed argue the markers, crayons, stickers and paper she had collected were as important as anything. Two new pet cellar spiders, Wilbur and Templeton, perhaps the most important of all. For the first time since the Old World still reigned, she had a true menagerie again. True it consisted of a black widow, two cellar spiders and a husky, but that's what made it cool. There was briefly an anole lizard in her collection back in Miami, but he got away.
Dakota had also gotten what clothes she thought would fit herself or Clem plus a couple extras. She glanced up, "I guess we could use more food, water and stuff, but I didn't see much of it around. Can still grab some extra clothes on the way out."
She broke back into her laughter and playful state when she hear Shadow bark again. Koda wheeled ahead on her heelies, looking for the dog food.
Shadow followed behind Dakota wagging his tail. Excited about getting food he sniffed the ground trying to find the scent. Ash shined his light at the Aisle numbers until the pet aisle was illuminated. Unsurprisingly it was almost empty save for a few bags of dog food. Shadow instantly ran to one and started hitting it with his paw before Barking at the others. "Ok ok damn dog." Patting the dogs head Ash grabbed the bag and laid it over the cart. "Alright lets go. I don't think we need anything else right?"
Tori looked through the canned goods and notice some peas among other things in there. Better than nothing. She always did like peas. A smile grew on her face for a moment when she remembered her brother wouldn't eat them because he didn't like green food for whatever reason. That smile soon faded when reality came knocking back.
“Yeah, I'll see if they have anything my size on the way out. Or close to my size. Can't really afford to be picky.”
Tori couldn't say anything about all the other stuff Dakota had even if she wanted to. She had a 3DS tucked away in her pocket, after all. That wasn't good for anything except persevering what remained of her sanity. She assumed it was similar for Dakota.
“Actually, I'll go ahead and see what they got while you fetch the dog food.”
With any luck they wouldn't have to share the dog food. Tori turned around and headed for the entrance of the Walmart where the clothes were. She could tell the last time this place was hit was around Winter since a lot of the long sleeve shirts and other related Winter items were gone. This worked in her favor since it was approaching Summer. Tori wished Spring could have lasted longer than two months. It was her favorite seasons out of all of them. Tori grabbed a couple of short sleeve shirts and some shorts and made her way back to the pair, putting them inside the cart.

Dakota waved after Tori and kept on wheeling along. Overshooting the pet food aisle, she had to come back around. She ponder aloud, ”Should we get more than one bag, Papa Bear? Just in case it takes while to find more?”
On the way out of the store, she sped ahead to the clothes, and did her best tp ick out a couple things out big enough for Mark. She collected one or two for Lilly too. Unless Clem had changed her mind about giving Lilly a chance, it wouldn't hurt to get a sort of peace offering. Koda added a few extra clothes, because rags could always be helpful.
Next to some landscaping gone wild, she collected a few ants for her pet spiders, and a light snack for herself. Once upon a time she was close to declaring herself a vegetarian. Her seven post-apocalyptic months with her Uncle Rob, before meeting Ash, turned her willing to eat most anything. She rather seemed to enjoy the ones she snacked on, on the way back.
Ash let out a hum thinking about what Dakota said. "Hmmmmmm. Yeah might as well." Placing a hand on the huskies head he grabbed two more bags. Keeping the bags on his shoulder so they'd have room on the kart. Shadow wagged his tail happily as the group left the store.
Walking towards the back Shadow stopped. The fur on his back started to raise as did his growling. Ash stopped and stared at the dog. Placing the bags of dog food on the ground he held out a hand to stop and silence the others. Grabbing Shadows collar he let the dog slowly lead him to whatever was around the corner as he kept his crossbow up.
Tori noticed the dog's reaction and the small hairs on the back of her own neck started to stand up. The last thing she wanted right now was to deal with more walkers. She took out the night stick she had safely tucked away and extended it, gripping it tightly in her left hand as she quietly followed Ash and Shadow. Ready to back them up as needed.
"We've got about 15 walkers outside," she tried to look around, "Possibly more." She grabbed her sword's hilt and grabbed the door nob, "If the others walk out of the store now things will become difficult. I'm going out." She jumped out the door, pulling her sword out and cutting the walker right outside the RV in half. She was grateful that yesterday before she laid down to sleep in the tree by the motel that she had sharpened her sword.
[OOC: I am so sorry about responding to late. m(_ _)m ]
Mark gripped the baby in his arms tighter. Figures they couldn't have a moment for rest while the walkers were around. Watching Kiku run out with her katana made him wanna go out and protect the others. The pain in his eye reminded him he shouldn't. "Lilly." Mark pulled his machete out and held it out to her. "I'll stay here with the kids." Grabbing his shotgun he laid the baby on the couch. "Clem. You still got your gun?"
Lilly moved to the window and peaked outside. "Crap." Immediately searching for her knife she found it next to the spot she was sleeping. Hearing Mark she turned and saw him holding out his machete. "Oh...Thank you." The blade was heavier than her knife. Watching Mark grab his shotgun she was confident he could keep the girl safe. Jumping out of the RV after Kiku she swung the machete into the nearest walker.

Dakota was already just outside the door, collecting and tasting a couple ants when she realized not even Shadow had followed her out. She glanced around and back. Ash and Tori sure were taking their time, hopefully she wouldn't be as slow when was as old as them. Being rash and impulsive weren't safe traits to have, but life had instilled a healthy dose of paranoia to counter this little girl's natural curiosity. Her impulsive rush may have gotten her stuck outside on her own, but little voice told her something was right, and it might not be smart to just rush back in.
She had left her rifle back in the cart though, so she was lucky to have Ash's old crossbow still slung over her shoulder. Sheathing Ash's hunting knife she was using to dig the ants up with, she slid the crossbow of her shoulder. She still had the golok she wold have lost forever if not for Mark too, so she was far from a defenseless little girl. She loaded one of the two bolts in with her now well-practiced two-handed technique, crossbow braced against her sternum.
Crouching low, she crept quietly back inside, and took cover among the clothing racks near the front. Being picked mostly bare, she made her way to the more complete cover of a nearby aisle. Tipping her hat back, her young eyes had to readjust to the dark, as she tried to find Ash, Tori and Shadow and why they were being so slow. She kept her crossbow at the ready.
Clementine slipped her handgun away, guns might be too loud. At the same time, she didn't...couldn't let this splinter of family and strangers be splintered again. Mark was hurt and baby Lee couldn't even crawl on his own yet. No one was going to stop her from helping this time.
Then she heard Mark ask if she had her gun as she stood poised to draw the hunting knife she found back in Miami, and follow Kiku and Lilly out. It was then she realized, Mark being hurt, he might need her help more to keep baby Lee safe, so she drew her gun back out. ”Right here. Nothing's getting baby Lee.” Backing up from the door, she returned closer to Mark's side. She held her gun at the ready, hoping Lilly and Kiku would do alright out there. If she needed to use her gun, noise wouldn't matter by then.
Kiku kept slicing at the walkers as they came at her one by one. She saw Lilly come out after her, she figured Clem was helping hold down the fort. She looked over at the shopping center but didn't see anyone yet. She was glad they hadn't walked out to this surprise but was actually really hoping they'd have finished by now, they could use some help. She kept focusing on where Lilly was, always afraid of accidentally hurting the living while swinging her sword, it was this error that was putting her in a difficult spot. Without complete focus she was at risk of a walker sneaking up on her.
Shadow kept pulling against his collar and Ash knowing the walkers were near. He barked as Ash let him go. they moved quickly seeing the walkers. "Shit!" Cursing he fired a bolt into a walkers head dropping it. Seeing Kiku and Lilly fighting off the biters as he loaded another bolt he wanted to keep them safe. "Bunnicula, Tori could use some back up. Dakota?" Looking back at the cart all he saw was her hunting rifle. Ash's blood ran cold Shadow's barks sounded distant as he was suddenly in Miami again.
He was at the auto shop shoving the mans motorcycle through the window. The biker laughed at Ash. He remembered the mans insane look screaming at him as he tackled the man and started repeatedly punching him. This time would be different. Ash pulled out his magnum and fired into the mans face. The back of the bikers head exploded spraying brains and blood onto the pavement. A bite in his leg brought him back to reality.
Shadow barked at the walkers pacing back and forth. Keeping their immediate attention he wanted to keep the humans safe. Seeing Ash's stare at the cart worried the dog. Ramming his head into Ash's leg he tried to pull him out of it. As the walkers got closer the dog bit his masters leg. Ash looked at the dog then the walkers. Ignoring the pain he fired another bolt into a walkers head before smashing another with the butt of his crossbow.
"Good boy go find Dakota!" The husky barked once before shooting back down the side of the store. Sniffing the ground he moved inside. Seeing the girl he let out a happy bark before jumping onto her and licking her face. Wagging his tail he motioned to the doors before letting out a yip.

Clementine felt a niggle in the back of her mind. That little voice about how she wanted to help more thought that if she were ever going to be allowed to help more, she had to show she could to help more. Another little voice gave her a twinge about leaving Mark and baby Lee's side.
Staring at the door, her young mind came to a compromise. Clem went to the door and opened it. She raised her gun and covered Kiku and Lilly best she could from the open doorway. If anything started coming too close, she would hop back further into safety of the RV to cover Mark and baby Lee. Clem only shot any walker that wandered uncomfortably close to Kiku or Lilly on their blindsides. If the action ever wandered too far from the doorway, Clem would just slip back to Mark's side to wait.
As they feared. It had been walkers all along. A lot of them. Two dragged their feet to her position. These were one of the times Tori was graceful they were slow and stupid, but if past experiences have been any indication, that never stopped them from getting their victims. Tori struck the nightstick across the knee of the first walker causing it to fall to the ground before whamming the nightstick against the head of the second causing it to fall as well.
“I'd say you're more of a crawler right now. Whoa–!”
A third walker came out of nowhere and it was Tori's turn to fall to the ground, holding back the walker that opened his mouth to take a bite out of her shoulder. Shoving the nightstick in his mouth to keep away from his teeth before kicking him away. Tori pulled herself up to her feet and started stomping the holy hell out of the walker that attacked her. Delivering several kicks into his ribs not caring if he felt it or not. One of the walkers she knocked over earlier started crawling towards her feet and she stepped back. Whaling on him with the nightstick bashing it against his head over and over again until the walker stopped moving altogether.
Tori's breathing started to quicken. Already she managed to wear herself out at the worse of times. She staggered back away from the other walkers on the ground. Sweat pouring down her face as she tried to catch her breath. The two remaining walkers on the ground never letting up. Crawling desperately across the cement to claim her. It just never ends.

Dakota nearly startled when Shadow found her. She smiled though, glad to find one of them. Now she just need to pick out Papa Bear and Tori. Her young hazel eyes were getting used to the dim light again, and she could finally make them out. Them and the shapes of the walkers too, and she had a sinking feeling that if Shadow could find her so easy, the walkers could too.
Hearing one or so shots from Clem outside, Koda was all the more certain she couldn't get far without her rifle. Something had to be up outside too for the others to shoot. She felt nervous that if she tried helping out with just the single shot or two she had with her cross bow, that she would just attract the walker's attention and barely give the help Ash or Tori really needed.
She held a finger u to keep Shadow quiet, whispering, ”Shh, boy. I can't go anywhere without my rifle... Papa Bear and that new lady need our help.” Glancing at the husky, she hoped he understood her. Keeping low, she made her way to the cart. All seemed fine so far. Just maybe if she could get the cart over to the door, she could keep Shadow at east, and provide cover to both Ash and Tori.
The cart was now greatly more weighed down than when she had been racing around with it. She leaned back, and pushed off on a heely wheel. The cart lagged behind, dragging her to a stop. She yanked on the front of the cart again, gliding another couple feet. The combined mass slowed her to a stop again. She felt like, if she just got going fast enough she could overcome it.
”AH!”
One walker had caught up with her jerk and jerks of the cart, and began climbing over the top to get at her. Her startled reflex launched the bolt in her cross bow into the crumbling and desiccated face trying to get a bite of her. Once again a truly dead thing, it fell limp over the top of the cart. Her heart racing, she jerked the cart away from her and back again to dump the walker off onto the floor.
Sliding around the cart, she bent down, needing both hands and arms to pull it free. There were other walkers, but they were tied up with Tori and Ash. Dakota made the most of their distraction, building enough momentum behind the heavily loaded cart to easily glide to the door.
Dakota traded bolt and crossbow for her youth rifle. From her new vantage point, she could see Kiku and Lilly fighting more outside. She aimed from behind the cart, and swung her lever action loaded. Her first shot struck one of the crawling walkers going for Tori in the torso. Koda kept on firing, bring the second shot home into the creature's skull. The third went straight into the skull of the second crawler heading for Tori.
Swinging her rifle to aim for a walker harassing Papa Bear, her first shot that way skipped off the floor into nearby shelving. She cocked another bullet into the barrel wit the lever action, and sent it hurling through the walker's groin. With her sixth shot overall, she finally zeroed in on this walker's head too.
Six shots left in her rifle, and she was going to need every one of them to get back to the RV. Exactly where all her spare ammo was. Turning her teary young eyes to Shadow, she called out, ”Papa Bear!.. T- tori.. Tori! I think they need our help back at the RV.”
Shoving a walker back Ash cursed as he pulled out his Magnum. Raising it up to the walkers head it dropped from another shot. Looking at his gun he knew he didn't fire. Ash refocused on the walkers and fired his gun into the walkers head. The large calibur round easily tore through the diseased rotten flesh. Brain matter and blood exploded out the back of the walkers skull.
Shadow stayed by Dakota wanting to watch over the child. His fur raised he let out a whine and growl wanting her to move. Hearing her say Papa Bear his ears perked. Wanting to get back to Ash he moved behind the girl shoving her with his head.
In all this excitement Tori forgot she had a bat with her. She looked around, worried she left it somewhere and forgot where it was until she saw it on the floor not far off from where the others were. She must have dropped it in all the commotion.
“Oh, thank God!”
Tori moved as quickly as she could in her tired state and picked the bat up. She pocketed the baton for now and went to the exit where Dakota said the others were in danger. There she could see an Asian swinging a sword around and a Caucasian woman with a machete. She wanted to make an Expendables joke, but figured now wasn't the time.
“Cover me.”
Without another word, Tori left the Walmart and proceeded outside. Keeping her eyes peeled for anymore walkers that might have been in the area. Right now, the ones she could see were busy with the group by the RV. That worked in her favor as she quietly closed in, raised up her her arms and then slammed it against the back of one walker's head that was making his way to the RV. Hopefully, that would be enough hint for the RV group not to shoot her on sight because they didn't recognize her. Tori made sure to bash the fucker's brains in while a second walker growled at her.
“I'll get to you in a minute.”
Apparently, walkers were impatient because already he was staggering towards her. Tori stood up straight and pushed him against the chest with the tip of her bat causing him to lose balance and hit the ground on his back. He would be easy for the others to stab or whatever, so Tori refocused her attention on the walkers that were still standing.
Lilly wasted little time. Immediately sinking the machete into the closest walkers head. Determined to keep the people safe she was a whirlwind of slashes keeping the walkers down. Hearing Ash's gunshot made her jump and look at him. "Ash!" She scowled at him and saw the other girl he was with. She didn't have time to question him right now so she kept slicing the walkers.
Kiku took down each walker one by one. Out of the corner of her eye she could have sworn she saw Ash and Dakota, with another figure, but she didn't have time to worry about that. When she heard Lilly call out to Ash she took a calculated swing taking out a number of walkers next to her so she could take a better look. If anyone was in danger she wanted to be able to help the best she could.
She looked at the new girl and only allowed herself to remain distracted enough to hold the thought, Do they collect people?, before taking another swing at a walker headed towards the RV.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
