Ash pulled the RV to the loading area of the small towns Walmart. Parking it behind a trailer with the semi still attached they were hidden from any curious eyes. Ash had driven all night over the state line into new mexico. The sun was up but hidden behind winter clouds. Shutting off the engine he slumped back into his seat looking at his co pilot. Shadow sat with his head pointed at the girls. Looking at his master he wagged his tail.
Ash pat the dogs head and stood up moving back into the living area of the RV. Mark was sitting up his eye bandaged up from the nights previous events. Lilly told Ash the bullet exited the side of his head. He was lucky to be alive. The biker didn't move as Ash grabbed his crossbow. Lilly was asleep curled up on the seat by the table.
Hoping to be as quiet as he could he opened the door letting the dog out first before climbing out. The air was cold making Ash zip up his leather jacket. Shadow sniffed and moved to a grassy area doing his business. Seeing no walkers Ash moved around the trailer. No movement from where they came from maybe they hadn't been followed. Moving back to the RV Shadow walked up beside his master. "Lets let everyone sleep for awhile ok?" Shadow just stared and wagged his tail. "You're so easy to talk to." Ash pet the dogs head.
Kiku had curled up in the isle next to the kitchen cabnets, she'd positioned herself in a way that she hugged the cabnets so much it looked like she'd glued herself to them. She wanted to be in a corner somewhere, she felt so out of place with these people she'd just met. Unfortunately most of the corners were prime comfort zones, she felt it would be rude for a stranger to take one of these spots.
She felt the RV shake as Ash climbed out of the vehicle. She looked around herself and then looked up at the loft above the driver and passenger seat. Quietly she got up and climbed into the loft and curled back up again. The young woman was so use to sleeping in trees that she was incapable of sleeping on the floor.
Lilly had worked most of the night on Marks eye. Despite a quick violent outburst from him he would be fine. She was curled up on the seat fast asleep after escaping the motel. She had the same dream she'd had every night.
"LEE! HELP ME!" Lilly screamed at Lee as she pushed on her fathers chest trying to wake up her father. Lee helped but it was for nothing as Kenny dropped a salt lick on her fathers head.
Lilly jerked awake seeing the new girl climb onto the bed above the drivers area. Ash was gone with his dog. Stepping Lightly she exited the RV zipping up her jacket she walked towards Ash and Shadow. "Hey."

Dakota slept, propped up against one end of the bench. She slept off an on at best, often woken up by Clementine to help with baby Lee, if Lee's hunger cries didn't wake her up by themselves. And Lee most recently had been put back down to sleep after being changed and fed less than half before the RV came to its latest stop. If Clem was as tired as Dakota, the teamwork was necessary. Dakota snored with her face pressed against the side of the cabinets that the bench ran into. The bottle of her pet black widow, Charlotte, was tucked securely under one arm, as was her stuffed animal, Flowers.

Clementine kept baby Lee sleeping on the opposite end of the bench from herself and Koda. She had fallen asleep sitting up, but ended up using Dakota's shoulder as a pillow. Usually hearing Lee first, she would wake up Dakota, just so between their two tired minds, they could make out the instructions of Lee's formula. Thankfully for the moment, baby Lee was fast asleep too bundled cozily up in a blanket.
Mark didn't dream. He never does anymore. Losing an eye takes a lot out of a person. The biker was slumped against the wall a bandage over his left eye was covered by his bandana. He woke up as Ash walked by then the new girl climbed up into the bed. Lilly left and he heard her talk to Ash. Opening his eye the biker looked around. Seeing the girls asleep with the baby made the biker feel warm inside.
Ash smiled at Lilly. "Hey Lilly. Everyone still out?" The Texan shouldered his crossbow as Shadow walked around sniffing the new smells in the new area. "Yeah. It was a rough night. For everyone and now we have a baby to take care of." Lilly crossed her arms as she talked. Ash rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah I'm not to thrilled about another mouth to feed. Especially since he needs different food. But we can take care of it. All of us. He's gonna grow up to be a strong man." Ash sighed and leaned against the side of the trailer. I wish clay was here. That Mormon would know what to do. Ash silently wished the smiling Mormon was with the group. Lilly leaned against the truck beside Ash.
"I've seen how those girls look at you. I don't know what they see in you but they love you." Ash chuckled at Lilly's words. "I don't see whe-" "You'll figure something out and when you do. We'll be with you. Every step of the way."
Ash looked at the RV for a long time before he pushed himself off the trailer. "Come on we're moving." Shadow was pawing at the RV door wanting to be inside with the girls. Ash opened the door letting the dog in. "We need more supplies before we even think about going anywhere. Gas, Food, and water that should be our main priority." Ash climbed into the RV Lilly following him.

Dakota stirred awake at the sound of Lilly and Ash re-entering the RV. Seeing Shadow had entered ahead of them, she smiled and rubbed some of the sleep from her eyes. Finding herself a pillow for Clem, she tried not to move too much. Yawning wide she turned her tired smile to Mark. The soght of the giant man's bandaged eye an unsettling reminder of what all was just lost so few hours ago.
Would she see Tala or any of them again? Just those few hours ago she held seeing Anthony, Vivian and other lost members of her post apocalyptic family again. How could she keep any real hope for such things, if that family kept getting busted further apart.
Her eyes did a quick search, not spotting Kiku. It gave Dakota a delayed startle that ensured she was too awake to go back to sleep. She sat forward a little when she startled. Had it really gotten so bad, people were going disappearing in mere hours instead of days. It was a subconscious fear easily dismissed with the last of dreamland's mists.
To reassure herself, she slid her shoulder gently from Clem's head and stood. She left Flowers and Charlotte by her pack. Yawning, she gave Shadow a few pets around the ears on her way to the door. Koda quickly peeked outside and saw no sign of Kiku there. The bunk over the front caught her attention, and she crept up to peep over the top. She smiled and relaxed a little seeing Kiku curled up there. One mystery resolved, she dropped back down to the isle and rubbed a little more sleep from her eyes.

Clementine came around to the twilight between sleep and waking as Dakota got up. Half opening her eyes she watched Koda head down the isle. It couldn't because of baby Lee, because he wasn't crying. Clem groggily looked down toward where the infant was sleeping to double check he really didn't need anything. Baby Lee was soundly and peacefully asleep. Clem figured Dakota had to pee or something and settled back into sleep.
Kiku was soon asleep, catching what rest she could before her assistance was needed, or her presence questioned. She still wasn't sure how she fit into this group now, she was so new to them. Would they keep her around so they wouldn't feel an even bigger loss, or would they toss her because they questioned her loyalty. She'd had that happen once, it wasn't the best feeling.
She dreamed of her life before the outbreak. Her mom and dad meeting her fiance, her fiance taking her own to dinner to propose, they day she bought the property for her used bookstore...they had all been some of the best days of her life. Now this. Suddenly her dreams got dark. She watched helplessly as her mother was being eaten by walkers, the memory re-imagined in dream form. Then the walker turned from her mangled mothers body and walked to her best friend and fiance, she watched in horror.
Her nightmare was seeping into reality, she tossed ever so slightly and she mumbled quietly. The inaudible words escaping the ears of those around her. This was the very reason she tried her best to never sleep deep enough for dreams, but somethings are out of our control.
"I'm gonna see if Mark will be up for searching the Wal-Mart." Ash got ready to climb into the RV. "You should take Dakota. I'm sure she'd love to spend some time with you." Ash smiled at Lilly. "Yeah I think so to." Ash climbed into the RV. Seeing Mark fiddling with his makeshift eyepatch and Dakota awake he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her.
"Morning sweetie." Ash smiled at Dakota as he let go of her. "I'm gonna raid the wal-mart. Wanna come with?" Ash spotted his old crossbow with her. "Let these guys sleep and see if we can't find any baby food for. Little Lester." Ash didn't remember the baby's name but he did remember it started with an L.

Caught in mild, sleepy surprise, Dakota squeaked. She awakened enough to see it was Ash, and hugged him back. Giggling a little at herself, she rubbed a bit more sleep from her eyes. She smiled and nodded, ”Lee. Me and Clem thought of a couple names, and Mark thought that one fit best. I think so too now. And I sure would. “
She frowned briefly over her shoulder to the bunk, ”I don't think Kiku is sleeping too good... but bad sleep is better than no sleep at all.” Turning back to her things, she collected Ash's old cross bow, her rifle, and both her knives. ”Okkay, I'm ready, Papa Bear.”

Ash followed Dakota's gaze to the top bunk. "I don't think many of us are getting good sleep these days." Smiling at the little girl Ash walked out of the RV. He clicked his tongue and snapped his fingers. Shadow came out wagging his tail looking between his master and the little girl.
Walking to the side doors Ash tugged on them before they'd move to the front. "Maybe while we're in here we can find some clean clothes for everyone." Keeping his bow in both hands Ash looked into the store through the front glass. "Last night got crazy fast huh?" Ash pushed off the glass moving to the automatic doors.

Smiling to Shadow, she felt doubly safe heading toward the Wal-Mart with husky and Papa Bear at her side. She held her youth rifle easily in both her hands, and glanced up at Ash, smile fading to something more somber. ”Yeah. All hella sketch. My truck and home are all back there with all my winter clothes, the can of turkey chilli I've been saving from my uncle's cabin for a special occasion, our shopping baskets, all but two of the bolts for my crossbow. That doesn't even start counting not knowing where Tala, Cassie or O-man are.”
Dakota peered into the store past Ash's side before continuing, ”Maybe we can pick up some new shopping baskets too. They're good for collecting small stuffs.” She moved to follow Ash carefully inside, tightening her grip on her rifle, ”Clem and me talked a little about that during the night, when Lee got us up for his bottle. 'Cuz I don't even know where we are going anymore. Wherever we go, we should make sure to trap it, so bandits like those can't just sneak up on us again. But Clem.. I think she still wants to go up to Colorado, just in case we might still find Anthony and Vivian there, and also in case Tala and the others keeping going up there too.”
Ash stopped as Shadow sniffed the ground. Dust flew out from his nose. the dog sneezed and shook his head. He ventured deeper into the dark store. Ash clicked his light on under his crossbow. "We might just need to find a place and settle down. When you guys found me and Lilly were planning on heading out to west."
Shadow's paws could be heard calmly prancing back. He came into the light wagging his tail at the two. "Stores clear. Thanks buddy." Ash pat the dogs head as he walked by keeping his bow up. "When we get back in the RV we'll gather everyone and discuss our next move." The store shelves had been raided ash prayed they'd find some supplies.

Dakota kept close on the way in, keeping her rifle at the ready. She glanced around the store's darkened interior. So many menacing shadows even with the sun on the rise. It took both Shadow's and Ash's calm demeanors to reassure her those shadows were nothing. Yawning, she let a soft, relieved sigh, and lowered her rifle. ”Okkay. We can figure it all out then.”
She started to look around for anything of use..and despite the Wal-Mart's already picked over nature, she spotted something right off. ”New baskets! Sweet. These are hella useful for gathering small things.” She scooped up the whole stack of blue plastic shopping baskets, and heaved them into a cart. ”I hope there's more than baskets though. We left lots back in the truck."

The Walmart has been trashed, mainly in the pharmacist, food, and clothing departments. The main things every survivor needed, minus the guns. But you weren't going to find guns at Walmart. At least not back when civilization was still in one piece. Luckily, no one had any reason to raid baby stuff so most of that was still in tact. Albeit, laying on the floor. Tori was over in electronics. Shattered glass could be found around where the TVs were kept due to the riots that occurred when people panicked during the initial outbreak.
Tori was sat down in front of the video games on the far right of electronics. She had stumbled around looking for a key only to resort to breaking the casing with a baseball bat she found in the store. Most of the games and systems were left untouched because again... what was the point in having games now? For Tori it was more about nostalgia than anything. Tori opened up a box with a green 3DS inside and started to play on it. The 3DS was already charged and ready to go, but as soon as the battery died she was fucked since there was no power in the store and thus nothing to hook it up to to recharge. But for now it was a most welcome escape from the hellhole she found herself in.
“Just get to the game. I don't have all day.”
The game she chose was Metal Gear Solid 3D. A re-release of Snake Eater on the 3DS. Something she has been curious to try ever since she heard of it. Back in the day people used to think she was a boy for even knowing what the game was. Like there was some unwritten rule that women couldn't like Metal Gear. She actually reviewed both the first and fourth game during her tenure as a video game critic. They were fun. Well, the first one anyway. She wasn't so sure about the fourth.
“These controls are shit. They have the same stupid crawling mechanics as in Metal Gear Solid 4. I have to tap the button in just the right way or Snake is going to do the opposite of what I want him to do. Crawl. Crawl!”
Who was she talking to? Herself. Tori had reviewed games for so long that the self-narrative was kind of turning into a bad habit. She hasn't ran into walkers so far so she had no reason to fear. Yet.
“What is up with the first-person view mode on this thing? I have to push all four buttons on the right just for it to do anything. Why can't it just be one button!? Go back down–! Shit, the guy saw me.”
Tori made Snake go hide in the bushes while waiting for the soldiers to past her by. She never was good at the stealth thing. Unless it was Metal Gear Solid 1. She was good at sneaking around on that game. She only played it all the time.
“The custom cameo from taking pictures is pretty good. I managed to get a lot of good night camouflage considering there's no fucking power in here!”
One would wonder why she even liked games at all with how mad she was getting. Right now Tori was oblivious to the people searching the Walmart and the bright screen in pitch black darkness wasn't going to do any favors to her eyes. Gave her position away, too, but she didn't care. For all she knew everyone she ever loved were dead.

Clementine only managed to sleep a few minutes more on her own. The growing light made her trip back to dreamland a short one. She vaguely recalled hearing Ash inviting Dakota out for supplies or something. Overheard in the twilight between sleep and waking, she couldn't be sure she actually heard that.
When she looked around the RV, and didn't see either one around inside, she figured it must have been real. No reason to worry, if they were just gone for a few supplies. Clem rubbed a little more sleep from her eyes, and looked to check on baby Lee. Still fast asleep, and she was glad to leave him to it. Not seeing Kiku around as she sat up, she figured the new girl must be off with Dakota and Ash.
Lily, the one person she did see around besides baby Lee and Mark, was the one she had been hoping to avoid a little bit longer. After Clem's talk with Koda back at the motel before all hell broke lose, and no one else around, now was probably the best time to talk to Lily. Clem knew she would have to sooner or later.
Feeling one of the purple ties that she still wore to hold her hair in pigtails, Clem quietly rose from the bench. She smiled and checked on Mark along the way. Putting off approaching Lilly long as she could, she gave Mark a hug, then left him to rest. She hesitantly headed over to Lilly. Her young dark eyes avoided eye contact, and she offered an awkward smile, ”Hey, Lilly. Can we talk?”

Ash grabbed the cart and pulled it with them. "Left my guitar in the truck to." An old acoustic guitar Ash had found when the group he met Clementine with had moved into the Bellagio. It was also where he first ran into an evil biker. After beating him Ash took the mans revolver magnum which he now carries.
Shadow sniffed the ground and wandered. Catching a new scent the dog moved off away from Ash and Dakota. Sniffing the ground he moved towards the electronics. Hearing someone talking the dogs ears perked up. He began to slowly move up to the aisle. Seeing the woman the dog froze. The hair on his back began to stand up. He didn't know if this was a bad person.
Ash shined his light on some shelves and grabbed a can shoved to the back. Pulling out the can he shined his light on it. "See look corn we're already doing great." Ash smiled at Dakota and placed the can in the cart. "We should look for dog food to."
Lilly watched Ash and Dakota leave before she sat back down at the table. Grabbing a magazine from under it she flipped through the same pages she'd read multiple times. She didn't expect to hear Clementine talk to her. Lilly looked at the little girl and nodded at her request. "Yeah Clementine."
Lilly put the Magazine away before she moved over so Clementine could sit. "I'm sorry. I took the RV and ran because I was scared and I wasn't going to sit around and wait for Kenny to decide what to do with me."
