Remy looked towards Randall who had his gun trained on someone else. When Luca whispered to Ethan a thousand alarms went off in her head. There was someone with him that he failed to mention when he walked up and found her. She grit her teeth and moved deeper into the house before she said something to him she would regret later. Before she went deeper in though, she looked at Ethan with an estranged look on her face.
"You should have said you weren't alone."
Trust in Ethan just went out the window. Not that there was much to be had anyways since she just met him. She decided to get to work in the house regardless of Luca being in there. She started with a couch that was propped up against the wall, lifting one side with a heave and pushing it towards the large fireplace that would need to be stocked and lit on fire.
"No Luca, I don't know if anyone from that camp actually did it, but I ain't sticking around to find out. You think they don't like you? They like me even less. I told you before that I'm better off on my own and I meant it. I'll be gone before the sun rises so if they plan on hunting me you can tell them to save their bullets. If Randall wants to investigate the girl with her legs cut off, that's his business."
Once she was able to push the couch in front of the fireplace, she took a second to catch her breath as she looked at the spot where she would be sleeping.
"Ethan, see if there's any firewood layin around outside. It's probably stacked up on the side of one of these cabins. Watch out for scorpions in the wood."
She moved towards the book case that was pressed against the wall, starting to take out the books and knick-knacks that were there for decor. On one of the shelves were games and she pulled them out, one by one and smiled as she remembered playing some of them. A deck of cards, a game of Uno, checkers and chess.
"It's getting late, Luca. If you stick around here much longer, you won't make it back to the settlement while the sun is still up. Otherwise, you'll have to stay here."
She wouldn't put him out of the cabin if it got too late. She wasn't that person. But she wasn't going to beg him to stay either. He was a grown man that could make his own decisions. Her stomach started to rumble a bit and she hoped there was snacks or something in the small kitchen that could tide her over until morning.
