Phoebe had slept like a rock, not moving a muscle more then to breath. She had been exhausted and had slept for a long 8 hours, maybe more. Her body wanted more sleep but she had woken up. She looked around. Most of the people that had been around her last night, unkown to her of course, had left. She felt the warmth of Damon behind her. Memory of last night was foggy at best. She remembered someone saving her and assumed it must have been him. She was still in her underwear and bra and she didn't feel like she had been used. She smiled, this one was quite the gentleman. He clearly wanted something, why else would he have slept almost naked behind her? Sure he could have been warming her up but that wouldn't have taken all night.
She rolled over softly and quietly. He was younger, that was for certain, but he was cute. She could definitely have expected worse for the first man to want to use her. And he had been so kind to her. He had saved her and he had not taken her by force or coercion. She kissed his neck and wrapped her arm around him, running her hand up and down his back.
"Thank you for waiting handsome. I'll definitely make it worth it."

Damon was shocked waking up to hear Phoebe speaking and placing her hands all over him and in shock rolled off the bed landing on his face before leaping to his feet. His first thought was why had Ellen not woken him like she said she would until he looked down at the girl in the bed "No... Like shit... No... I was just, she told me too... You were cold and..."
He looked upwards trying to think how to escape this situation. It was nothing against the girl, she looked very nice. He was just not used to that kind of interaction since Lara died. He through a shirt on but was strugglingto formulate a sentence because of the stress running through his mind "I don't expect you to just, And im not saying you are not an attractive,... but you don't have to do THAT because I helped... Like... Do you know what I mean... You have rights and shit still..." He was trying to explain without making her uncomfortable or upset. He looked behind making sure people could not see inside.
He looked upwards in an awkward manner thinking this was the exact opposite of the bad scenario Ellen gave him. He was a History student but he had studied feminism and cultural changes... He wondered what people this girl had been with to make her like that.
Phoebe stared at him as he rolled away from her like a bat out of hell. Had she messed up? Maybe she had just started him. She didn't know what he had been through. Maybe someone had tried to kill him and now her advances had triggered him. She hadn't meant to scare him, she just knew that guys liked to be woken up to some enjoyment. She spoke before he could.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I just thought I would surprise you. You were soo chivalrous to me, come back to bed and I'll..."
Her words were cut of by his and she was totally confused by his words. She wouldn't have needed anyone to help keep her warm for a few hours now. They would have needed to spike her internal temperature with the heat, until she had come up a few degrees. Then the blankets would have been fine. She would have been out of the danger zone. He started talking about her not having to do this and that she had rights. Of course she had rights but not over that. There were things that you had to do now. You had to breed, it was the only thing that would ever allow for the survival of the species. The prophet had been clear about that and his logic was sound. Oh shit! She thought to herself. Was he married? Had she just tempted him. She felt bad, horrible even. She had just tempted a man who was married to break his vows.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were married. I know it must be hard to find rings out here. I should have asked. You did well though. You resisted and I'm sure your wife won't mind. She'll know you did what was right, I hope that I can still stay, it was a small mistake. Please don't tell them I should leave."

Damon was perplexed looking at the girl "Married... Im not married... Im simply not a guy who forces women to do... STUFF like this" He then looked at her trying to focus "What is it? What do you think is going on? Have you been... FORCED? To survive or some shit...?" He was confused and wonder what people had done to this girl.
Her mind was trying to understand what he was saying. He didn't listen to the person in charge here? She couldn't think of any possibility that didn't involve orders to procreate. It was basic survival. Maybe he was gay. She could understand then. It did happen right? She had seen the research, people were born gay. She smiled. She didn't want to out him. Maybe people weren't ok with someone being that nowadays. And she didn't want to let him know that she knew. It might scare him.
"Ok, I'm sorry for assuming that. It's just what I thought was neccesary. Is there anything I can do for you? You did save my life."

Damon looked at her still straining his thought. He heard her say assuming and looked at her confused "What do you mean assumed... You talking about me being married or like... something else?" He then sat on the other bed "I had someone, she was special to me but I lost her like a year ago... and I have been here like two weeks, people... this shits kind of messed up but I find people awkward to be around... So to go from complete loneliness to THIS... look I'm sorry, I over reacted?" He said half wondering if he did.
He put some jeans on "Look your very pretty but things don't work like that. You can do what you want... screw who you want... Just... If you want to stay here do whatever jobs they give you and be... honest" He then picked up his water "Your welcome by the way, I like to think someone would... save me or at least have the decency to put a bullet in my head if I was in your situation... those things... that's no way to go"
"I couldn't have. I don't know how to deal with them. Don't even know how to kill them... I saw people empty whole clips into them and nothing. I don't know how you were able to do that. Are they still at the wall? It might not be safe if they are..."
She was scared now. The only things she knew about them were that they were dead and that it was incredibly hard to stop them. She had never stayed out there long enough to learn and no one ever knew what the rovers did. They just knew that the rovers kept them safe.
"Can you kill them?"

Damon was half shocked... "You made it over a year into this mess and you don't know THAT... Damn... Loom don't worry the walkers will be dealt with by now" He imagined this was something he would have to mention to Ellen, if this girl came from some group they may come looking for her... or worse.
He then started putting his belt on "The head... its the only thing that does it. Its some virus, I met a weird scientist guy when I was hauled up at the University back in LA... Its a fever, kills you and restarts the central nervous system... they are just instinct... they hunt and work in packs lurking around" he then began trying to light a cigarette as he knew the next part would be the worst thing to explain.
"And we are all infected... doesn't matter how you die... you have to destroy the brain or people turn... come back as one of those things"
Anne-Marie stretched out in her sleeping bag. She didn't want to get up yet, but the sister of a Council member couldn't be idle and slacking off, could she? She wasn't happy with being a nurse-trainee in the medbay but she couldn't deny the fact it was useful at least. She'd rather stay close to Ellen and her Dad and be in the guard as well but they wouldn't have any of it. Still, it was nice to seeing the quiet returned to Bear Lake after the intruders had been kicked out. Her Dad and sister had already gotten up and were probably around somewhere, but they'd have their own job. She'd probably see them at lunch.
But a new candidate had already presented herself it would seem. Anne-Marie had only heard about the wounded woman the evening before and that she would be there when her shift would begin. Her dad and sister insisted she'd spent time with some of the other teens in the camp and to be fair, she was glad they did. It was the most fun she had in a very long time. Still, she couldn't overcome the carefree attitude of the other teens. Most of them were there since Bear Lake was established and none of them had spent as much time out there as Anne-Marie did. They were oblivious to a lot of things but it was not a bubble she was willing to pierce yet, but they'd have to learn some day.
Reluctantly Anne-Marie opened her sleeping bag, letting the outside cold come in which gave her goosebumps. She took her Glock 17 from underneath her pillow and laid it on the sleeping bag before getting dressed. She put her leg holster on and then holstered the gun. She then put her Washington Redskins beanie on before getting the Vector SMG out of the crate. The SMG-clips she kept elsewhere in a bag just in case someone decided to sneak up on her during the night and tried to use it against her. It was a habit Anne-Marie had adapted from being on the outside. But unlike on the outside, she couldn't load the SMG up as the camp was considered a safezone and clips had to be carried separately until told otherwise. And that reminded Anne-Marie to take the clip out of her Glock or else she'd get it from the guards and Ellen afterwards. She took the clip out from the handgun and put it in the pouch on her belt. She did a quick check if the gun was chambered with a bullet, even though she knew it wasn't. One could never be too careful.
Still wiping some of the sleep from her eyes, Anne-Marie made her way to the medbay, eating a Ranger-bar as she did. It would at least hold her hunger down until lunch, but she hoped she could get some coffee or tea in her system as she worked. Before entering the medbay she put the Vector SMG in the gunrack out front. She didn't like the new rule which was orchestrated by Andrei, but it was on Ellen's order so she followed it. If someone were to steal the SMG however, they'd immediately know who did it seeing as for now she was the only one within the camp who owned one. And even if there were more around, it was the only with Anne-Marie McAllister carved into it on the left side.
Anne-Marie entered the medbay but no doctor was present yet. She heard talking coming from the other compartiment though and went over to check it out. The new arrival along with the comedian Damon were there, and it seemed like they had slept together.
"Morning Damo! Am I interrupting something?" Anne-Marie asked. "Or were you just taking her temperature?"
Taking another bite from her Ranger-bar, Anne-Marie lifted one eyebrow and smiled smugly at Damon. What a fun way to start the day!

Damon slung his hoodie on as Anne-Marie entered the room before hearing her joke. He looked upwards and back at Phoebe who had not spoken since he told her about walkers. He looked back at Anne-Marie "Nope your not... like dammit" how more awkward could this morning be.
He was irritated now. Ellen making him strip, this new girl seemed to have only survived by being used in some settlement by horrible people and now Anne-Marie cracking wise. Damon just looked back and forth between the two leaving the room "I have to go speak to your sister anyway... ABOUT BUSINESS" The last part before Anne-Marie could crack something wise.
He looked around trying to spot Ellen but could not see her. He assumed he would spot her in a minute... she was a busy woman. He struggled to light up a smoke but his lighter broke in his hands. He looked upwards and groaned to himself "For fuck sake... What a fucking day"
Anne-Marie took another bite from the Ranger-bar, obviously distrought by her walking in. He was embarrassed but hey, that's what you got if you made hanky-panky in spaces where you could get caught any minute. Of course she knew what everything was about, Ellen had told her the previous night. But a little humor couldn't hurt. And for a self-proclaimed comedian, Damon seemed to have little left.
She kept her funny disposition about her in an attempt to keep things lightly as Damon walked her by. He said he was going to talk to Ellen about business but considering the stock exchange was a little slow these days, she knew it probably wasn't going to be about day-trading. Still, she couldn't help herself to crack one more joke at Damon.
"Oh I'm sure you want to show her the business alright!" Anne-Marie joked, smiling smugly from ear to ear. She then turned around laughing, and faced the new patient.
"Good morning." Anne-Marie greeted the new woman. "I'm Anne-Marie, the nurse-in-training. You must be Phoebe. Sleep well?"
Anne-Marie looked a bit over her shoulder when she heard Damon curse outside of the tent and laughed slightly at it before turning back to the woman and awaiting her response.
Ellen yawned. It had been way too late last night and way too early this morning. She was always on edge when there were new arrivals. Some people called her paranoid but she had to be in order to keep the camp safe. There was no telling whether or not this woman had pursuers and if they were going to show up as well. Could be they arrived in the next couple of days looking for the woman and then what? Or no one was going to come at all and they'd find a place for the woman here. But just letting it pass her by wasn't like her.
She looked at her watch; by now Anne-Marie should have started her shift in the medbay and she thought it was probably best to join her there and see if the woman hadn't woken up yet. There were some questions that needed answering, seeing as the circumstances she arrived in were weird to say the least.
Ellen walked over and saw Damon in front of the medbay. Considering she had ordered Damon to be woken up after a few hours, she figured Damon was already up and about checking on the woman. Probably had taken a liking to her, or at least concern. But for the moment it seemed like he was struggling with lighting his cigarette. Ellen couldn't help him with that.
"Morning Damon." Ellen said. "Up bright and early I see? Coming to check on our new friend too?"
He was, surprised that she didn't know how to take out the dead. Did that mean that everyone he knew could do it? Was she just completely useless out here? Maybe she shouldn't have left. If being able to kill one of the dead was a requirement for living out here now then she was horribly under qualified. She didn't even think that she could reliably shoot one in the head. If she had been forced to try and fight them off she would be dead for sure.
She was about to respond to him when Anne-Marie came in and started giving Damon hell. She looked at the woman, she looked a little like the other woman that had talked to her. About what, she couldn't remember but it had seemed inportant. Her memory of the night before was fractured and hard to pick details from. Damon left quickly after the woman arrived and then she introduced herself.
"Yeah I'm Phoebe. I'm a Nurse practitioner and a psychiatrist, or at least that is what I was before. I slept like a rock, but then that is to be expected. I walked for 3 days with those things behind me."
She finally realized that she was all but naked. Her arm had been patched up and it seems that they had given her some pain meds because she didn't hurt as badly anymore. That could be in part because she had been able to get a full nights sleep. She looked at herself. She was rail thin and she still had some dried blood on her arm.
"Is there anywhere that I could get some clothes and maybe take a shower? I don't want to seem like I am expecting things. I just, you know, don't want to walk to the med tent dressed like I am. It's completely improper and I wouldn't want people to think I'm doing anything wrong. I can pay you back for it by teaching you what I know about nursing. I had to instruct when I was doing my graduate degree."

Damon in a frustration dropped the lighter before Ellen arrived and snarled "Oh great..." He looked to the sky "Going back... Nobody woke me... I was awoken not by a stranger nudging me, but that woman going at my neck like a walker... You run a tight camp but the room service is lack luster"
He was chuckling, half wondering if when he was back in college he would have even complained about something like this but it was more his current social anxiety that was more the problem. He attempted to calm himself down knowing he would get no sympathy in this camp.
"So no... But if you want some good news I know a lot more shit than we did yesterday... Shit that you need to know... important stuff if you know what I mean... security risks and what kind of place she must have come from" As he said this he felt his pocket to find a spare lighter but would wait for his conversation with Ellen to end.
Last Edit: Mar 29, 2015 22:16:24 GMT -5 by Damon Morris
Anne-Marie finished the Ranger-bar as Phoebe spoke. She was a nurse too? Well that would cut her workload in half at least. Still, Phoebe claimed to be a psychiatrist as well and that particular statement worried Anne-Marie a bit. Her mother was an ER doctor and having been explained the studies by her mother in the old days, she knew that a psychiatrist first had to go through medical school before specializing in a certain branch. But this woman was a nurse, and not a doctor; so how could she have studied psychiatry if she wasn't a doctor? She'd have to mention this to Ellen. For now, she was alone so confronting the woman with it may not be a good idea.
After Phoebe told a bit more about her situation Anne-Marie was a bit in awe, assuming it was true. Being chased by walkers for three days with a bleeding wound took some stamina and a fuckton of luck considering a human being only had so much of the stuff inside them. She was lucky she hadn't bled to death, considering her body had been in constant physical effort. It all seemed a bit suspicious to say the least but she'd let Ellen pick Phoebe's brain.
When Phoebe asked to shower Anne-Marie pointed in the direction of another compartiment of the tent where the showers were set up. If she was going to have a shower it would give her time to find Ellen and tell her about what Phoebe had told her, giving Ellen a bit of prior knowledge. She also needed to see about getting Phoebe some clothes so she'd have to go out anyway. Still, she appreciated she wanted to teach her about nursing, assuming she actually was one.
"Shower's over there, in that compartiment." Anne-Marie said. "So's whatever passes for towels around here. They have a three minute rule about using the showers so you're gonna have to be fast about it, just a fair warning. I'll go see if I can score you some clothes and some breakfast. You must be famished. My sister's probably coming to talk to you soon as well. She was with you last night, if you remember."
"Damn it!" Ellen cursed inside herself. She had ordered for Damon to be woken up but the night watch must've forgotten. She could only imagine what could've transpired... Did that woman make a move on him? Was she a nymphomaniac or something? Or just really really horny? Ellen thought that if so she didn't have her priorities straight.
"Fuck." Ellen said. "Sorry Damon, the night watch was supposed to wake you up. As for the room service... You'd have to go to the complain department. Pretty sure that's Charlie's thing."
Ellen didn't like people complaining, the Council sessions in the evening were bad enough as they were already. But Damon probably joked and so did she. No one was actually dumb enough to complain to Charlie. Probably one of the few perks of people being scared of her. Still, it seemed Damon's extended body heat exchange with the woman had paid off. Ellen was eager to find out what she had told him.
"So what'd she tell you?" Ellen asked. "I was just about to go talk to her myself but if there's something I gotta know please tell me now."

Damon placed the smokes in his pocket "Well don't worry about it all, just a very weird wake up and Anne-Marie wound me up a bit..." He paused thinking back to what he could remember from his conversation with the new woman.
"pretty much I learnt in a few seconds quite important details. First that she was essentially throwing herself at me because she seems to be of some disillusion that's what she HAS to. She could not comprehend any other way of thought" He cleared his throat.
"She also had no knowledge of how to kill a walker... seems she must have been in a VERY BIG community or something and by the fact shes been walking, what? Three days... that's a community that must not be too far away. Could be a threat?"
He knew that both points had ramifications. Whatever place she had been must have been messed up to treat people the way she had been. Also that this new woman should not work on the wall
The minute that Anne-Marie mentioned food she could hear her stomach rumbling. She had actually forgotten that she was hungry. It must have been because she had passed out. She wanted food more then anything at the moment.
"That would be amazing. I'm starving, just didn't know if I could eat before I worked. I hope I can get myself cleaned up in 3 minutes. A lot of this blook is pretty old. It's gonna be hell to get off."
She started to head towards where Anne-Marie had told her the showers were. She was pretty excited about getting clean. She was sure that she smelt about as bad as she felt. She turned around at the last second before wither she or Anne-Marie left.
"Thank you for everything. I owe you big time."
She turned and went to the showers. She didn't take long to get undressed, seeing as she was only wearing her underwear. She got in and started scrubbing her arm. It took her almost the whole time that she had to clean it but when she did she was able to take a couple seconds to wash the rest of her body and then she got out she wrapped herself in a towel and sat back down on the bed to wait for Anne-Marie.
Anne-Marie gave the woman a smile when she told her she owed her big time. She then left the tent to get clothes and food for the woman and found her sister there. She let Damon speak before taking the word herself.
"She just told me she's a nurse... and a psychiatrist?" Anne-Marie said. "I don't get it, don't you have to be a doctor to be one?"
Ellen shook her head.
"Not always sis." Ellen answered. "Probably a nurse practicioner. It's some kind of legal loophole. But thanks Anne-Marie. I'm gonna question her now." "I'll leave you to it." Anne-Marie said. "She doesn't look too dangerous but those that are usually never do. Be careful. I'll be back in a sec, just gonna see about getting her some food and clothes."
Anne-Marie nodded and then left to find food and clothes. She knew where the kitchen area was but where on earth was she going to find clothes?
Ellen found the things Damon told her disturbing to say the least. Throwing herself at him because she thought she needed to? No knowledge on walkers and how to kill them? And then the three days walk. For a moment Ellen pondered on the distance, walked her in state assuming she was wounded all along. Fort Collins and Boulder seemed plausible, maybe Denver on the assumption that she hadn't been wounded the entire trip...
She also wondered on how someone who claimed to be a nurse practicioner and a psychiatrist could be so gullible into thinking she had to give someone sex if they did her a favor. She needed to get to the bottom of this. Anne-Marie left to find the new arrival clothes and food and Ellen needed to talk to the woman.
"Alright Damon, good job." Ellen said. "Get some breakfast. Oh, and check the kitchen. I'm sure they can spare you a few matches for your smokes."
Ellen walked past Damon, giving him a friendly tap on the shoulder as she entered the medical tent. After walking through the first compartiment she went into the second where Phoebe was. Seemed she had already taken a shower and cleaned up. Anne-Marie needed to hurry with those clothes.
"Good morning. Sleep well?" Ellen said. "Not sure if you remember me but I'm Ellen, I was here last night when you arrived. You were pretty out of it. How are you feeling today?"
