Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-The youngest of three sons, Seamus always had a lot of live up to, with his eldest brother, Conan Jr, being a successful carpenter in NYC, and the second eldest, Michael, being a decorated, medically discharged, US Marine. Though living in their shadows his whole life, the bonds he had with them were strong. Having lost his father at a young age to a work place accident, so he was primarily raised by them. Even when he got a scholarship to the University of Albany, he stayed in touch with them via phone. Though during the year before the outbreak, their mother, Mary, got diagnosed with terminal cancer. This created a division in their bond, as Michael was the one staying at home to take care of her, angry at Conan Jr for never coming home to see her despite being only an hour away, with Seamus trying to be middle man between the two, with both of them eventually getting angry at Seamus for being away at college instead of at home. This continued for a better part of the year until their mother died. After the funeral, roughly a month before the outbreak, the three of them stopped talking entirely. During the month before the outbreak, Seamus fell into a deep depression, neglecting to go to class, letting his grades slip, and spending a lot time simply running laps around campus to keep his mind off of things.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-Up at the crack of dawn, Seamus was out on an early morning jog after another sleepless night. Lost in the tunes coming from his ear buds, he all but tripped over something near the tennis courts. Falling into the dirt, he turned to see the blonde girl from his English glass devouring the intestines of Terry the campus safety officers. Horrified, Seamus scrambled to get back in his feet, but not before the blonde looked up at him. Her eyes were empty, cold dead empty eyes, as she opened her mouth in a long death like moan and rose to her feet, her left leg horribly mangled, her red night club dress in shreds, and began to shamble over to Seamus. Seamus took off running back to the dorms, pure adrenaline in his veins. Looking back just for a moment, he saw Terry rise to his feet, his intestines hanging out, and let out a moan as he also began to stumble his way over to Seamus. He ran all the way back to his dorm room, pouring sweat as he slammed the door behind him. His roommate, Connor, was already up, watching the news his laptop. A video streaming from NYC showed the city devolving into chaos as people are eaten alive by more of the dead things like the blonde and Terry. In the room next door, a loud moan and a blood curdling scream pierced the morning silence, followed by the sound of ripping flesh as people came out of their rooms to see what was going on. Opening the door, Connor and Seamus poked their heads out of their room to see what was going on. The on duty RA, Christina, came bounding up the stairs, pulling out her keys, with students still in their pajamas looking out of their rooms. As she opened the door, the boy from next door lunged out at her, dressed only in basketball shorts, the smell of blood, vomit, and stale beer thick in the air as he sunk his teeth into Christina’s face. As the boy’s girlfriend, covered in blood and mangled injuries, shuffled out of the room and also descended on the screaming RA. The dormitory erupted into chaos as some students tried to intervene, while others locked themselves in their rooms, and dozens ran for the exits. Connor slammed the door shut, pacing and cursing. For Seamus, that day, something in his mind snapped, and he just began to laugh, laugh until his sides and throat hurt. He laughed for what felt like hours as the campus became a blood bath, as more of these creatures began to appear from nowhere, or more students turned into them.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
After three days of living on dorm room food, Seamus and Connor made the decision, well, Connor did, to try to make their way back to Westchester to reunite with their families. Scavenging what they could from the dormitories, the two hit the road, making their way through south through the walker infested wasteland of New York state, acquiring a mismatched assortment of gear along the way. The stress of the apocalypse took it’s tol on the two friends mentally, with the two becoming more unbalanced as the days went by. After about three months into the apocalypse, during the fall, they made it to Rye, but found no trace of Seamus’s brothers. When they went to Connor’s home in Harrison NY. Upon discovering Connor’s reanimated family hanging from the basement rafters, he suffered a mental breakdown, blaming Seamus for slowing him down. Pulling a snub nosed revolver, he tried to shoot Seamus, only to get tackled to the ground. The two friends ended up struggling for the gun, only for it to go off, a bullet hitting Connor in the stomach. As he lay dying on the ground, he begged Seamus to shoot him in the head, pleading that he didn’t want to turn. Panicking, Seamus picked up the revolver and fled the house, his dying friend cursing loudly behind him as the few walkers in the area converged on the source of the screams. A day later, Seamus was taken in by a small group of survivors, a middle aged couple and the store manager, holed up in the back of the local CVS. Though they didn’t trust him at first, he proved his worth as a scavenger, managing to stay with them all winter as they survived on what little food they could scavenge from the surrounding area. Despite losing an ear and a finger to frostbite, Seamus made it through the winter alive, but his friends didn’t, a case of influenza taking them in the dead of winter. Since then, he has migrated around Westchester County and the surrounding areas, avoiding herds of walkers and salvaging whatever he can from abandoned buildings, never staying in one place for too long. He still holds out hope that he will see his brothers again one day.
