"Well, this is interesting," Tamara said quietly as she brought the convoy to a stop. The empty and abandoned high country highway was in front in front of them, signs pointing to various places south of of the former Idaho state capital of Boise...as she took time to decide, she thought about the trip up to Idaho from their former home in San Simeon. It'd been a rough time for everyone - they'd lost a few through death or desertion, they still hadn't reunited with the Viking or his crew, Sarah was now nine months pregnant and ready to go at any opportunity....to most people, it would've all driven them to madness but as she restarted the Bronco and turned towards a place called Mountain Home, all Tamara could think about was getting everyone inside somewhere where they would be safe, somewhere where they could rest for the night...somewhere they might could call home once more.
...Hey you, Medicine Man Set me free and change my ways Hey you, give me a holler, give me a harbor What do you say? Hey you, Medicine Man Give me what I'm hurting for Hey you, give me a holler I can't live like this no more... - "Medicine Man", Dorothy

Following Tamara and Mercy in the Bronco, Stephanie - along with the rest of her small coterie of companions (Rhode, Jordan, Brie) - looked around and thought, We just left one desolate location for another one? Shaking her head, she added, I just hope the Boss Lady knows what she's doing 'cause I haven't a clue....
It'd been an interesting time for everyone in the group: after surviving the earthquake and subsequent fires/explosions which had destroyed their home at San Simeon, the entire group of Scouts had left in search of a new home....along the way, the group had gotten split up, they'd lost a few members, gained a few, survived several travails, but in the end as she followed the Bronco down towards what looked like - according to the signage - was a military base of some kind, Stephanie - who wasn't a religious person at all, even in this day & age - said a short, quick and quiet prayer that was all her own...God, I hope the way is lit 'cause if it ain't and I got to go to the next life, You and I will be talking while I'm on my way there....

Sitting in the passenger seat of one of the group's Tundras', Sarah tried to focus on points out in the distance but every time she tried she ended up wondering if the group would ever find a home or if they'd be consigned to roaming the earth forever....at least, she mused, turning around in the seat to look towards the back of the extended cab she was in, we have two new members of the group in our midst....
...and how; about a month before, Sarah had given birth to twin daughters Rayne and Dylan Lyell-Haru; smiling as she lightly brushed the baby hairs on their heads, she still felt the occasional twinge of pain from having given birth but other than that, the twin births had been like clockwork, so much so that the group's two medics hardly worked up a sweat. I just wish Bam and the rest of the group were here to see them, Sarah thought wistfully, adding, but I've also got the best family around, so its' all good.
Before she could continue her thoughts, tthe Tundra driver spoke up. "Sarah, we're about to make the turn onto Mountain Home; Tamara says it'll be another ten minutes or so before we roll up to the main gate." Looking back to the front and then over at the driver, Sarah asked, "Mountain Home....that was a military base back in the day, wasn't it?"
"Yes, ma'am, it was," the driver replied as he slowed in line to make the turn, "but I'd surprised if anyone's there still....on the other hand, if the facilities are still there, it'd make a decent stronghold." Before he could continue, Sarah said to him, "We'll see....we'll see," turning back around and gently adjusting the blankets covering Rayne and Dylan, "but I'm sure Sis knows what she's doing, so let's just keep moving on and see what happens..."
