Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Weston grew up in a small house in Manchester, His father was part of his majesties military and his mother was a nurse, A match straight out of a war movie Wes always thought with a chuckle. Before Emma came along Wes filled his days educating himself about what his father did, He had grown to be his hero over the years and even though he was never privileged with knowing what exactly he did while deployed Wes always imagined himself in the same combat fatigues and boots that his father always came home in every few months. As the years past and Wes grew up he dove head first into the intention of becoming a military man, Taking a particular liking to the thought of becoming a sniper in the Royal Marines.
When he was eighteen he applied for the military with his parent's blessing, His father more so but both supported all the same. Making his way through basic and being assigned to a company he saw his first combat deployment when he was twenty, That was the first time he shot someone to protect his fellow soldier. The face of that man charging would haunt him for a long time after that, as the faces piled up the mans face became a jumble of all of them, a grotesque abomination of a man swirling around in his mind when darkness filled his vision at night. As the years past he was able to qualify for the marines and succeeded in passing the exams to join the ranks of the Elite.
When he returned from his first deployment Wes was caught off guard by what he returned to, Little did he know that when he was sent off that his mother was pregnant with his little sister, Emma. He had been gone for nearly a year by this point and so much had changed in his absence, The small flat they lived in was only big enough for three people comfortably and so Wes found himself sleeping on the couch, his room had become his sisters over the course of his absence but Wes didn't mind, The only thought on Weston's mind was that he now had three reason's to continue to live, Three Things to fight for.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- On the day the world ended Wes was celebrating a bittersweet day, His father had died a few weeks prior and his mother was on her death bed in Hospital, Times had gotten rough over the years, his deployments had him away for months at a time and Emma lived with their aunt during these times. Wes had been stationed close to Manchester when it happened thankfully and this day in particular was a special day, It was Emma's tenth birthday. Over the years she had learned to not expect much which in all honesty was hard for Wes to do but they just couldn't afford most things. The day was cold, as it usually was that time of year and as Weston stood at his guard post with his gear he rubbed his hands together to warm them as the base alarm began to blare. The confusion and panic overtook the masses as the creatures appeared, Screaming, shouting, panic and fear ripped it's way through the town as Weston and his fellow soldiers tried to keep the peace and stop this newfound enemy.
As the day wore on and it became evident that these things where seemingly never ending Weston was ordered to support the members of the base in an attempt to rescue as many as they could, His first thought went to his sister, Where was she? Was she alright? I have to get her. He thought as they cleared the streets to carve a path for evacuation. After the first batch had made it Wes requested to go get her, His superior agreed and organized a party to aid him, The man may have been an asshole but he wasn't heartless it seemed.
Making their way to where Weston's aunts house was they picked up the civs they could find along the way as part of their mission and as the lonely house on the hill outside of town came into view the sight was disturbing, the fence was tore down, the door hung from it's hinges and bodies scattered around the area. What happened here? He asked himself as his squad leader ordered them to fan out and look for survivors, His aunts house lay just a few houses down and so Wes and one other soldier began to make their way down the street to the other houses, These too were seemingly destroyed, although a little less so than the mansion that had headed the street.
The small house came into view as Wes picked up his pace, Finding Emma inside along with their aunt and the body of one of the things, Marg had been bitten by one of them which only spelled trouble. They knew the bite turned you, they knew what had to be done. Wes took Emma outside before the sound of a slightly muffled shot of his fellow soldiers assault rifle rang out.
As they made their way back the scene turned to pure chaos, Little did they know that a literal horde of the things where close by and the shot of the execution drew them, Within seconds they surrounded, The small unit of men didn't stand a chance with the numbers, Wes and Emma barely made it away from that scene, Nothing but the dead and dying were left behind as they tried to circle around and make their way back to base who had mysteriously went dark a few hours into their trek to the northeast of town. Until now Wes had written it off as a radio issue but as the base came into view a few hours later that was shown to not be true. The main gate lay on the ground removed from it's hinges, The bodies of the dead and soldiers littered the entrance and the more they looked the more they found. The base, had fallen.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- As the years went by and the days dragged on Wes and Emma tried their best to keep moving, Shortly after finding the base in shambles they made their way to the hospital their mother was being helped and upon arrival they found that it was just as bad, The dead had grown in numbers over the years and the duo began to avoid bigger cities if they could, Only moving into them if they needed supplies or something along those lines.
A year in they met up with an older SAS chap who Wes took a particular liking to, It was always nice finding another soldier in the ruins of the UK, People usually didn't stick around that long, Although it was partically because of Wes's clear disdain for useless people which was pretty much anyone that wasn't military or related to him these days. But Michael Stayed around, They may have butted heads a few times but Wes was inwardly thankful to have another person there he could trust to watch over Emma if anything happened to him.
As the years went by they found a few groups, some civilian, some remnants of what once was the military presence in the country before the dead began to walk but none of them ever lasted, Or they didn't last or fit in. They kept on the move for the most part, Only settling down if a place was truly able to be protected which wasn't very often.
Wes had made a point to teach Emma how to protect herself once she was thirteen, He had taught her basics before that but once she grew he stepped up the training to tactics and the like, silence and stealth was the key to any engagment in Wes's mind and this mindset was passed to his sister during their training sessions.
They never stayed in one place over the years on the run, Trying to find what remains of the military and regaining control of their home is their main desire however, at the moment it seems like more of a pip dream then anything. Even though the road is tough and friendly faces are scarce they keep going, They keep, surviving.
