Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Growing up Sam had the everage life. He had parenrs who loved him, a big brother who would always look out for him and a good handful of friends. He married his school sweetheart. Had his first and only child at the age of 20 and married at 21. He jumped from job to job while he studied to be a teacher, landing his first full time teaching job when he was 29. His wife ran her own fashion line, Sam always supporting her. He loved his life, his family ans friends.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-It started out as any other day for Sam. He woke up, got ready and went to work. He had heard news of some sort of outbreak but like most people he didnt take it too serious. He kept getting calls throughout the day but because he was in class his couldnt answer them. It was on his lunch break that he managed to call back and his brother picked up. His wife had been attacked while opening her store that morning. He dropped everything and rushed to the hospital. Because of traffic it took him twice the amount of time to get there. By the time he did it was too late. His brother explained what happened and Sam's life fell apart. It didn't make sense. Somebody had bitten her and it killed her.
This supposed outbreak was real and he found out the hardest way he could. His brother had to drag him the rest of the day. They grabbed all the weapons, water, food and anything else they wpuld need and hit the road.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- The first few days were a blur. He suddenly came back to reality when they picked up his son. He hadnt even realized his best friends had joined them until that moment. He knew he couldn't fall apart again, not now he had to be there for his son. They traveled south, hearing about a safe haven in London.
They stopped at a settlement in Birmingham for a week but on the 7th day the settlement got overrun by the dead. Their group got seperated in all the chaos. He was about to escape with his son when he got grabbed. Sam watched as the dead tore into his son, watched as the life left his eyes. His flight or fight instincts kicked in and he flew. He ran and didn't look back. Running turned to walking and then slowed to stumbling. Then he just stopped. He sat at the foot of a tree, crying for everything he had lost. He came so close to ending it all but he heard the voices of his son and wife telling him to push on.
So he did. He pushed on to London in hopes of finding sanctuary. It took him weeks to get there but he made it. He was hopeful but those hopes were soon dashed. There was no safe haven, at least not anymore. He wasn't sad, he was pissed. After everything he had gone through, all the loss he witnessed to get here and it was all for nothing. A small group of walkers were unlucky enough to get a taste of his wrath. He let out all of his emotion and must of blacked out halfway through because next thing he knew he was standing around barely visible dead laying at his feet.
Sam ended up taking refuge in a nearby tower block, using his common sense to stay in a room on the middle floor. This room had a ladder fire escape if he ever gets surrounded. He also knew that his brother would be on his way here so here he would wait. He spent the first couple of months looting the local stores, using the dark of night as cover. His days spent barricading the entire floor he now called home.
The days seemed to blur into one and he started to slowly lose track of time. But even as the first year passed he never gave up hope. He saw many other survivors come and go. Some stayed a while and they would help each other but they too would eventually move on, eithee by choice or taken by the dead.
His routine of travelling and looting during the night changed as the supplies around his area became scarce. He started to leave at first light and travel further into the city to find supplies. Around 2 years had passed by this point and he was doing pretty good for himself. He had plenty of food and clean water. A good supply of medical supplies and an arsenal of weapons ranging from simple knives to an assault rifle he had taken from a dead soldier. He had an emergency backpack stashed under the floor boards of the room above him if anything were to ever go wrong.
As he was nearing his 3rd year everything changed. A group who called themselves 'The Street Rats' came across his hideout. Sam thought they were good and just needed a place to stay so he accepted them in. The group consited of 3 men and 2 woman. The leader and Sam seemed to hit it off and they came to an agreement, they can stay as long as they use their jeep to gather supplies from deeper in the city.
They were together a few months before the groups true intentions surfaced. Out of nowhere they grabbed Sam and tied him to a metal beam. Sam watched as The Street Rats took everything he had. After they were done they cut Sam free but knocked him out. Great, they steal everything he has but they are too good to kill him Sam had thought when he came to several hours later.
Sam didn't feel safe there anymore. He grabbed his emergency backpack from the floor above and left, not forgetting to leave a note for his brother if he ever went that way. He head towards the country side and came across a small cottage, hitting the jackpot. There was an entire room with shelves upon shelves of canned food and bottles of fresh water. Whoever lived there must have been dooms day preparers. Clearly they didn't expect the world to end this way.
Sam only spent 3 weeks here. Evem though it was seemingly safe he couldn't keep it in anymore. He needed to find his brother. With this goal in mind he left the cottage and hit the road again, heading north towards Birmingham.
(Hope its okay that he starts out on the road and not in a city)
