Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Zoe is the only child of the Jackson family. Raised is Dallas all of her life, the city was all she had ever known. She had not thought her path would ever have her depart from her beloved city. She had always thought that she would stay in Dallas with her family. Live a happy life in their happy home. Her parents loved her very much. Not to the point where they would spoil her, however. Her mother was one of those people that checked every ingredient before making a purchase. How she had hated substitute foods. She always tried to make sure the family ate healthy home cooked foods. Zoe loved her mother's cooking. Her least favorite food was spinach. She just hated the taste. She always made a "there is no way I will eat this, sorry" look when it was served. Zoe had always been a quiet child. Her parents were able to read what she was saying from her facial expressions. It was due to lack of social graces. She was never a very sociable child either. Therefore she made little friends in school. Most of the kids just thought she was weird. It didn't help matters.
Or her psychological hang ups. She found it harder and harder to make friends. She learned to keep to herself. She was good at not making friends. Her parents had her see child therapists. There was never any breakthroughs. It was due to the fact that Zoe never understand life. She never understood how it worked. That these abstract structures of daily routines. Her way of thinking was never accepted. The hardest thing for her was opening up. Her parents were the only people that truly understood her. She felt comfortable around them. She was able to make more livelier facial expressions. Sometimes she would say a few words. But they were never much. Her psychological hangups made her quieter and quieter. Her thoughts became trapped. No longer able to find words to carry forth. She had begun to carry a notepad to express her feelings and her thoughts. They came as crude drawings. Some times she wrote words to say what she was thinking. School was the worst. She was bullied relentlessly. She kept to herself. In making astute observations she began to think methodically. She could take a situation and perceive how things would go. Strategically, methodically.
She became a thinker. Often getting lost in her own thoughts. She never let anyone in. Not ever her parents. Effectvely shutting the gate. Perhaps she was afraid of letting someone in. Maybe she was afraid of letting the pain go. Whatever the case was she found familiarity in the pain. It was her pain. It was no one else's. She made it her armor. It made her able to go to school and take the name calling. Sitting alone in the school yard during lunch. Loneliness was never something she struggled with. It was the most comfortable thing to her. Besides she had her teddy bear. Which was given to her during her 15th birthday. She would not let anyone get close. She would defend it with her life if she had to. She would never let anyone touch Bear Hugz. Like her pain, it was hers. It made her feel safe. Her pain made her strong. It made her speechless just as it made her unsociable. She would see other kids getting bullied. She would do nothing. Life was better if you didn't look up. If you didn't then you didn't see all the terrible things.
So she kept her head down. Stayed out of trouble. Made her grades. Loved her parents. Slept comfortably in her bed. All of this made her comfortable. It was a good life. Knowing that her parents would always be there. Her lack of social graces made her stronger going in to the apoc.lapyse. In her mind the walkers were just bullies. She doesn't understand that they no longer lack humanity. To her they are just beings of hatred and violence.
