As of late, there has been some cattiness directed towards the site staff about availability and application work. So I would like to take a moment to clear that air, and to remind you all about a fact that might have been forgotten: we are people, just like you. This site has many members, and we all come from our own walks of life. We all love this site, but just like our characters, we all also lead vibrant and busy lives. I'm sure you're all busy with your lives as well, but it seems like there has been a tendency to forget that the staff have their own busy lives to lead as well. Although it shouldn't be necessary to offer up an explanation, I'm going to go ahead and do so anyway in an attempt to nip this pesky little problem in the bud.
Remy, on top of running this amazing site that we all know and love, happens to be one of my absolute best friends in real life. I'm not going to put her on the spot and air out her private life, but some of you may not be aware that she started a new job a while ago, and it keeps her very busy. I'm proud of her that she literally helps manage one of our cities in her own way, on top of teaching yoga and having a family to take care of. On top of that, she goes above and beyond to take care of this site and keep it running well so that we can all play on it and enjoy it.
Wyatt is another one of my best friends in real life. Again, I'm not going to put him under a microscope for the site, but know that he is a total badass in real life, despite being one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. He is a legitimate choreographer, and he signs people for contracts and is in charge of a lot of people and things. This is on top of actually taking time to choreograph dances and teach it to others, as well as being in those numbers. He has a lot of responsibilities in his professional life that keep him occupied, and on top of that, he lives in Belgium. I know that a good portion of our site members live in North America, so honestly, Wyatt is online a lot more than you probably think he is. The time difference between our countries doesn't always align to have him on at peak times, but he does a lot of work on the site as well.
Sisa has grown into one of my best friends in the time that we have gotten to know each other and play together. He is kind and smart, and he is in the process of finishing school. He is also in the transition of venturing into higher education. So naturally, he also has a lot of responsibility in his real life, and a lot on his plate when it comes to school work and keeping good grades. For the sake of keeping his privacy, as he is more on the shy side, I'll leave it at that.
As for me, I have never made my life a secret from any of you. I work a full-time job at a busy restaurant, and that keeps me coming and going from the site at odd hours. I work primarily in the afternoon and into the night, so I am mostly online either in the morning or during weird hours in the night. I also have a terrible immune system, and when I get sick, I am basically out of commission for an extended period of time. Most recently, I was relatively absent over the past few weeks because I got hit with a bacterial infection in the wall of my throat, an upper respiratory infection, and bronchitis all at once. I was out of commission for three weeks, and I am still in the process of recovering. And make no mistake, this happens to me every time that I get sick, even if it's just a sinus infection. Imagine it, being that sick every time you contract something as mild as a cold. So if I am ever gone for an extended period of time, assume that I'm battling some illness and can't reach my computer unless otherwise noted.
On top of this, as I'm sure most of you are aware at this point, Max Rivers has left the site. Nobody is mad at him for doing so; he spent a lot of time on this site with us all, but his own busy life became too difficult to balance with all of the responsibility of helping run this site, and he had to step away. So on top of leading these busy lives, we are now playing with a man down. So if it ever takes longer than you all would like to have your applications approved or to have a question answered, we sincerely apologize, but we hope that you can understand why that is happening and where we are coming from. With that being said, we are more than happy to share this lovely site with every single member, and we appreciate when other members step up and help each other out. That's what teamwork is all about, and the culture that we have all established on this site is part of the reason why we all love it so much and stick around. But with that being said, the primary responsibility of guiding new players falls upon the shoulders of the site staff. We have all been here for a pretty long time, and as such, we know the inner workings of the site and rules like the backs of our hands. This isn't to insult anybody or say that we are the only ones who know what we are doing; however, it is in our job description to make sure that every member of this site is taken care of properly, to ensure that the site is running efficiently and correctly, and also to make sure that there is no misinformation floating around that could cause conflict, confusion, or mislead new players who may not know any better.
With that being said, please know that if a moderator approaches you and has a question or a concern, it's absolutely in your best interest to speak to us in the same way that you would to a person that you know in real life. The site staff loves writing on this site, interacting with all of the friends that we have made here, and we hold this site very dear to our hearts. It is our jobs, in addition to Remy's watchful eye and guidance, to make sure that nothing is amiss within these walls. So when we approach you about something that we have a concern with, know that we are asking you because we care about this site and its members, and we don't want anything to happen that could jeopardize this site or the way that it runs. It really isn't necessary to give any of the site staff a nasty attitude when we are trying to do our jobs and get to the bottom of a problem that had arisen, and it certainly isn't necessary to be disrespectful or downright rude to someone in the staff. I can't really speak on the reactions of the rest of the staff, but I can tell you that I, personally, will not tolerate it.
Hopefully this clears the air and sheds some light on the transition within the site staff and why the return time on responsiveness has slowed. Wyatt, however, is back from leave, and I am back from being ill. Sisa is going to be more active once the semester winds down. Remy has always been here, and will always be here. We love this site, and we are not going anywhere. Hopefully the same can be said for you all. If there are any questions or concerns regarding this message, please do not hesitate to contact me via PM. I'm sure that the same can be said for the rest of the staff as well.
Thank you all for your time, and have a great rest of your nights. Happy writing.
