The morning had turned warm, as it always did in the south. Collin had slid out of bed that morning a he had done a thousand times before, Careful not to wake his daughters as he opened the door and passed by their room on his way to the main living area where he had lain his clothes the previous day for them to be ready for him the next morning. rounding the corner his eyes hovered on the table with drawings scattered around from the previous night from the girls softly snoring in the other room. Letting a smile form on his face for a moment as he passed and grabbed his clothes from the back of the chair where they rested before retreating back to his room to get dressed. Emerging a few minutes later he slid the spare bedrooms door open slightly to wake Serenity for something he needed her help with, waiting for her to wake he gave her a smile, "Hey, Rin. Got a job I need you to help me with." He whispered as he saw her eyes open.
"What is it dad?" She said with sleep in her voice before looking up at her father, careful not to raise her voice to high as to not wake her younger sister that was still resting. "I need you to help me with the new girl, She's around your age I think." He said before standing up from his kneeling position next to her. "Get dressed and meet me in the living room." Moving to the door he looked over at his younger daughter with a soft smile before back to Serenity. "See you in a sec." He added before closing the door behind him to give her some privacy. Making his room to the living room he sat down on the couch and propped his legs up on the coffee table, careful not to set his feet on the drawings as he grabbed his guitar from beside the seat and plucked softly on it as he waited for the sound of soft steps on hard wood approach. Hearing just that a few moments later he slapped the strings softly to stop the note from resonating as he saw Serenity's face emerge from the hallway, "Hey Rin, Ready to go?" He asked standing up and leaning his guitar back against the wall, " Yea, Who's this girl anyway dad?" She asked coming up next to her father near the front door. "Not sure yet, Apparently she showed up a few days ago. Apparently she's pretty shook up over something, thought maybe seeing someone her own age might help her out."
Opening the door Collin let his daughter pass through before looking back down the hall towards the room Katlyn was in. "Hey, Would you go ask Sam to check in on Kat here in a bit?" Collin asked as he motioned towards the house next door. Sam had shown to be one of the more kid friendly members of the members in the houses around his down the street from town hall. "Yup." She agreed before dashing to the next door house and knocking on the door, watching as it opened a few moments later Collin gave Sam a nod as he emerged from his house. "Hey Sam, You mind listening For Kat and getting her to school? I got something I need to attend to and I need Rins help." Collin explained as he drew close. "No worries Boss Man. Count on me" Sam responded as he gave Collin a thumbs up and passed into the house, sitting down on the couch and picking up the book he tended to leave there if he ended up coming over. "Thanks sam." Collin added before shutting the door and motioning to the Humvee in the driveway for Rin to hop in. Grabbing the keys from his pocket as he hopped in and turned the key letting the engine roar to life before glancing into the backseat to make sure his rifle was still in its hiding spot in the floorboard. "Okay, lets get going." Collin said before putting the vehicle into reverse and pulled out onto the street. "You got it dad." Rin retorted before hanging her arm out of the window as they began to move down the road.
Pulling into the house where the new person had been stationed Collin glanced down the road at the wall that towered a good fifteen feet in the air before looking up at the house, it was one of the older Victorian styled ones, it's green paint starting to peel off the walls in some area's and fading in others. "This place needs some paint ya know?" Collin joked as he looked over to see Serenity moving around the other side of the Humvee to join him. "Maybe a bit." she agreed, "So who is this girl?" She asked coming up next to her father. "Well, lets find out. Whatdayasay?" Taking a few steps towards the door he knocked gently before stepping back and awaiting it to open.
A short moment later the sound of the knob turning greeted the duo's ear and the door slid open, seeing Kath in the doorway Collin gave a smile to the woman. Kath was the one assigned to check in on the new girl and bring her the things she asked for. "Hey boss, She still hasn't really talked. You wanna give it a try?" She asked before stepping to the side for the both of them to step in. "Still hasn't talked? How old is she?" He asked closing the door behind him. "Hmm, well boss, Going off the way she looks she doesn't look any older than Rin here." She answered as she motioned to the young girl standing next to Collin. "Okay, Okay. Well, I'll see what I can do. You can go Kath, go get you some food or some rest." Collin said with a nod before watching the woman return the gesture and leave the house. "Okay, let's go say hi." He said turning to Rin and making his way into the living room of the house, Seeing a lock of blonde hair facing away from him as he rounded the corner. "Hey there." He greeted the young girl with a smile as her gaze shot to his direction with a nervous look in her eye. "So, what's this about you not saying anything? There ain't anything to be scared of you know." He added stepping to the side to let Rin in. "Plus, You aren't alone here, This is Serenity, Most call her Rin though." watching as his daughter moved to stand next to him and waved at the young girl on the couch. "Hey there." She greeted "So, What's your name? She asked before they both moved around the couch and sat in the chairs beside the young girl, careful to give her the space she needed in an attempt to not make her even more nervous as they waited for her to answer.
