The last of the daylight was sparkling through the branches of the trees. The sky was orange, alive and on fire. The sun was burning out in the last of the dying day. It had be a long day already. Bianca sat on the bumper of some abandoned car. It was half on and half off of the road, in the middle of nowhere. She was on a god forsaken stretch of highway. There was nothing behind her except for a few dead she put down. There was nothing in front of her except unknown dangers.
Bianca took this tiny respite to take a swig from her bottle of water. The water bottle was empty. "Great." She said tossing it in the floor. It wasn't the thirst that was driving her exhaustion. It was the heat. Even now as the sun was just barely keeping it's head over the horizon it was hot as hell. A mosquito landed on her neck and she slapped at it annoyed. "Fuck! Does everything want to eat me?!?" She groaned forcing herself to tired feet. Bianca readjusted the pack on her shoulder. It seemed heavier. She thought taking a rest would give her some of her sapped strength back. It had the opposite affect. Now she just wanted to find some place to lay her head.
Looking around she could see a few walkers ahead of her. Her hand reactively moved to her knife. She didn't have the strength in her to draw her bow at multiple targets. Not, when her knife could do the same job. She had spent her day running from mobs, trying to find a car and maybe some shade. She didn't find anything but reasons to be pissed off. Bianca had a reason to be mad. She was in New Hampshire of all places. She was half tempted to let the dead just get her on that basis alone.
The car she so conveniently rested on had flat tires. Most of the cars she saw were in rough shape. Much like her. "Alright come get your dinner boys.." She said in a low, taunting voice. Her head was low and her hair hung in her face. She was ready to just put them down and move on. She didn't want to try and out run them, not with this heavy pack on her back. She was tired and dehydrated. She wasn't exactly an athlete in the best of circumstances.
She waited for them to make their way over. They had endless energy. She did not. So she let them come to her. Bianca took care of the first one no problem. The knife was jammed into it's temple with a sickening squish. She bared her teeth in it's face. With a grunt she put a hand on it's head and shoved it to the side. The corpse hit the grass and rolled down a little embankment on the side of the road. "Come on already!" She urged the other two.
That's where things got dicey. Bianca took a step back. She didn't mind her footing however, and stepped on an empty water bottle. Her foot rolled out from under her and she stumbled back. Bianca's head hit the bumper of the car and suddenly the fading light of the dying day faded a lot quicker. Lingering shadows crept in and Bianca's eyes got a lot heavier. Her head was pounding she could hear the growls getting louder in front of her but she couldn't keep her eyes open. Bianca passed out right there in the road.
