Rose was screaming obscenities as she heard the heavy THUMPTHUMP THUMPTHUMPof the grizzly pounding after her.She swung her rifle behind her and fired at the grizzly blindly, through some miracle the grizzly ran into the high powered . 308 rounds....
and continued to chase her
She barreled into a clearing screaming "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK"
she looked to her right and saw three figures in the distance
"OI....FUCKING RUN! BLOODY GRIZZLY...SHIT FUCK FUCK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"she barreled towards them trying to signal them to run, her face full of slight panic
there were times to be brave and stand your ground, a grizzly bear nipping at your ass isn't one of them
"CAN SOMEONE SHOOT THE GOD FUCKING BEAR FOR FUCK SAKE!"
Charlie shook her head. Of course this guy wasn't going to be cooperative at all. God forbid he stopped compensating for something and gave his motorcycle to save a couple lives. But it wasn't over yet. As if in a cartoon or a Hollywood satire a red-headed woman came running toward them, announcing in a very loud manner the reason how Bear Lake got its name.
Charlie's eyes widened and she was stunned for a brief moment, trying to remember what to do in case of bears. Were they the type of forest critters that got scared if you made yourself big? No. Would they back off if you attacked them like the mountain lion? No. Play dead? Well there was a whole horde of dead people on their way as well so that was pretty much a bad idea. But then again, running from a bear was probably a bad idea as well.
Cabin. There was a cabin. Given, it wasn't the sturdiest of constructions but at least they'd be safe from the bear. The walker horde was a whole other story and there was no telling whether or not Ellen and the QRF were going to get there in time.
Seeing the red-haired woman getting closer, Charlie figured the shared concern of the bear would make her friendly and snapped out of it.
"Cabin! Get in the cabin!" Charlie said to Remy and the biker. "Move!"
She tried to take aim at the bear but the red-haired woman blocked her view to get a decent shot. She lowered her bow and waved at the woman to get inside.
"Over here, get in the cabin! Move it sister!" Charlie shouted before getting in the cabin herself, grabbing the door to close it as soon as the woman got in.
she was panting on the floor of the cabin. she scrambled up and held her gun."wheres a fucking window! that son of shit bear stole my dinner!" there was a buck lying in a bloody heap in the woods because of that thing"I'm going to put a damned .308 through its fucking skull!"
she sighed when looked up at the girl" I..uh...hi...."she coughed and her mind went to her wife.and then she clenched her fists around her gun.
her eyes steeled" I know that look love, I'm not giving my gun up..."
As soon as the red-haired woman was in, Charlie slammed the door shut right in front of the bear's face. She pushed her shoulder to the door and heard the woman say something about her giving a look. She had no intention to take her gun, at least not now. For now they were all in this mess together. Charlie had trouble keeping the door shut as the bear pushed his face against it and she wondered why Luca and Randall hadn't come to her aid right now.
"Uhh... a little help here guys?" Charlie said, trying to keep the door shut. "You too Red! If you're not too busy maybe you could find something to keep this damn door shut!?"
Charlie dropped her crossbow and reached for the M9 Beretta in her leg holster. It took her a few tries due to the constant moving of the door being pushed, but after a few attempts she was able to pull it from the holster. She fired a couple of times through the door hoping one of the bullets would hit its target.
"Bad bear! Bad!" Charlie yelled as she shot several bullets through the door. "Fuck you Yogi!"
One of the bullets connected to the bear's snout, causing it to back up a bit. Charlie didn't hesitate, their newly acquired companion had a high caliber sniper rifle. Charlie yanked the door back open, giving the red-haired woman a clear shot at the furry agressor.
"Now! Shoot it!" Charlie yelled. "Let Fozzie have it!"

She saw the bear and brought her gun to bear. time seemed to slow for her.
the bear batted at its snout as she brought it into her weapon's sights. She targeted the bears eyes and fired.
she fired four times. BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM! the bear didn't even know it was dead for about thirty seconds then it made a noise and slumped to the ground.
"well then....now that we killed the national animal of Russia....who the hell are you guys....I haven't even noticed other people around this lake..."
Charlie watched the red-haired woman shoot the bear four times before it finally took its final plunge to the ground. One final roar and the beast was dead. Suddenly, Charlie couldn't help but feel a bit sad. All these monsters in the world, yet they managed to kill one of the last endangered species the world had left. Okay, so it did try to kill them... well the red-haired girl but then again, animals went by instinct. Walkers did too but they weren't extinct, if anything they were overpopulated.
"Well... THAT happened." Charlie said, before turning back to the others inside the cabin. Normally she'd suggest skinning the animal but they weren't out of the woods just yet; they still needed to get up the road and away from the incoming horde. The red-haired woman made a comment about killing and never having seen anyone around the lake, while in fact they had been there all along. Charlie figured the camouflagenets around the camp must've done their work.
"The name's Charlie. Honored, I'm sure." Charlie introduced herself. "We've been here ever since shit hit the fan. We got a camp further up the mountain which I'd love to take you to but we still have to escape that incoming horde. We got an evac incoming but we need to get up the road!"

Remy wasn't sure what surprised her more...the fact a biker had just rolled up and offered her a ride or the fact a horde was coming their way. For the first time ever, she actually agreed with Charlie about the fact his chopper probably lured the horde their way and were following the sound. Maybe he was doing this on purpose? What if this guy had been watching the settlement and decided to cause some trouble? Now she was feeling just as paranoid as Ellen proved to be. She looked at the man who kept his face concealed by sunglasses and a handkerchief over his face as she kept the backpack close. "My momma told me never to take a ride from strangers. Especially a one percenter."
She took notice of the Outlaws jacket and patches that he wore and knew exactly what he was. She never really had much interaction with bikers before, but she had seen many in New Orleans. They came in droves to special events such as Mardi Gras and to generally have a good time. She occassionally got a whistle out of one or two but that was about it. Her type of guy was more booksmart...and usually more arrogant. But those times were long gone and the survivors seemed to be the tough guys.
The temptation was alluring though. Riding off with this guy to an unknown destination would get her the hell out of here. But then she would be stuck with some stranger doing this all over again. She didn't want the relationships now, certainly not after everything she had gone through and she was already starting to develop a closer friendship with Luca. Temptation isn't what it used to be. Instead of waking up to a hangover and a stranger because of it, one could end up dead from it and that was a chance she just wasn't willing to take.
"There's a settlement up the road..."
But before she could tell him anymore a crazed woman ran from the woods being chased by a bear. "Sorry man. Every man for himself." What was a personal outing for herself had turned into a ridiculous cartoon as Charlie and this woman seemed to think it was in everyone's best interest to get inside the cabin she had just exited with the front window smashed out. She wondered if Randall and Luca had snuck off while they were dealing with all this. Instead of jumping on the back of the bike, she shook her head and just ran towards the home, but not inside. Instead, she ran to the back where she saw the canoe and boat at the dock and ran up the back porch steps as she heard the roar of the caravan coming to get them in the distance. Four gunshots and a dead bear, along with yet another stranger in their mix was what resulted in all this. She could run and hide from a horde of walkers if need be and get herself back to the settlement in her own time. For now, the legless girl and Randall's desire to have her chaperoned were forgotten as she plotted her route on foot back. All that noise was sure to make the walkers more hungry in their quest for flesh.
"wait....you mean there's a bunch of stoners on the way?"she sighed and checked the magazine on her gun"can't you just clear them out?" she said matter of factly"it cant be that many....not as many as there was in Los angoles.
She called them stoners becuase ironically, they kinda acted like a bunch of druggies with the munchies.
A serious case of the munchies.
She sighed as she pushed the magazine back into place and check that there was one in the chamber.
"it's not like there could be more then five or ten...thats not really a problem when you can hit them long range.
After the distress call from Charlie, Ellen's QRF was mobilized and Mac went along with them. He drove his armored Chevrolet Suburban as fast as he could to the last position Charlie had given. Next to him sat his daughter Ellen, obviously distressed about her friend Charlie being in danger. Mac was afraid Ellen would do something rash in order to save Charlie, so he'd have to keep an eye out. A horde was on the way and by Charlie's intel, it was at least two dozen of them. Charlie was good but she would never be able to fight them off alone. Her transmission also spoke of an unknown human on a motorcycle and it didn't take much to put two and two together. The bastard on the bike was probably the guy who lured the horde right to them.
Mac kept looking back every now and then in the rearview mirror to make sure the other jeeps from the QRF were able to keep up. It wasn't too long before they finally had eyes on the horde. Mac stopped the car, giving Ellen and the QRF a chance to set up until Charlie could reach them. He got out and took out his binoculars. He counted at least thirty walkers. Where did they come from? Did the guy on the motorcycle intentionally lured them here? Or had Remy stirred up the hornet's nest by her unannounced and unauthorized outing? Either way, there were going to be consequences, and if Charlie was hurt or worse, dead; Mac knew Ellen wouldn't be able to remain rational anymore.
"I count about thirty of them!" Mac said to Ellen. "Have your snipers set up, we can take them if we're fast!"
The more Ellen tried, the more desperate she became. Charlie didn't answer her comms and it made Ellen assume the worst. If only that damn Lacroix woman hadn't gone out unannounced! If something had happened to Charlie Ellen was going to bash that woman's skull in. She knew that blonde bimbo was trouble the day she saw her. Why on earth her Dad would drag such a woman cross country was a mystery to her.
When the convoy stopped Ellen immediately got out and looked for Charlie. All she saw was a nearby cabin and a large horde incoming. When her father told her to have her snipers set up, Ellen gestured at the snipers within the QRF.
"Set up! Start taking them out!" Ellen ordered. "But watch for friendlies!"
Ellen set up her silenced Remington MSR on the hood of her father's car but waited with shooting herself. Her main priority was Charlie right now and she needed to know Charlie was still alive.
"Charlie!? It's Ellen! We're here!" Ellen spoke through the comms. "Come in Charlie!? Damn it Charlz, answer me!"
Charlie looked at the red-haired woman with a confused look. Did she not see the large horde when running from the bear? Although running from the large animal might've caused her to overlook just that. Still, it was something she was willing to forgive. The woman still hadn't introduced herself so plain old 'Red' would have to do for now.
"Alright Red; I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt instead of just flatout calling you blind, considering you were just chased by Smokey the fuckin' Bear alright?" Charlie said. "But there's at least two dozen of rotters comin' our way and we gotta get the fuck out! Now!"
It was then she heard the most angelic voice she had ever heard on the radio, that of her own angel; Ellen. The cavalry had arrived and their salvation was at hand. Charlie immediately grabbed her comms from her chestrig and responded.
"Ellen! It's Charlie! I'm okay!" Charlie responded. "I'm in the cabin with Randall and Luca and another friendly!"
Ellen was relieved to hear Charlie's voice, even more when she said she was okay. Still, she wondered who the other friendly was.
"Charlie we're here!" Ellen responded. "We're just outside the cabin about 500 meters away. Can you make a run for it!?" "Copy that." Charlie answered. "Watch your fire, we're coming out and we'll move up your right!"
Charlie grabbed Red's shoulder and looked her straight in the face.
"My friends are here Red!" Charlie said. "Stay close and run as hard as you can. And whatever you do, DO NOT STOP. You're gonna have to trust me on this one!"
Charlie let go of Red and turned to Randall and Luca.
"Come on, grab your asses and let's go!" Charlie shouted at them. She then walked over to the door, and faced the others.
Charlie could hear the bullets whisper as they flew over the road, towards the horde. The QRF had started to shoot them and this was the opportune moment to run. See assumed Red was new to this, so she faced her one last time.
"You ready Red?" Charlie asked, feeling a genuine concern for this woman.
Riker looked at the blonde who refused the ride because he was a stranger. The walkers were still a distance away, moving slower and slower as time went on, but he knew they would be here soon. When the woman came out of the woods with a bear following close behind, he knew the source of the horde had just reared her ugly, red head. "You can thank her for horde. Shooting in the woods, screaming at the trees and gutting a deer in the open. They started to swarm like bees towards her."
He also knew his motorcycle didn't help the situation and he heard the caravan coming up the road, Putting the kickstand up he looked at the pretty blonde and looked down the road. "Suit yourself then. I'm headed to Flagstaff if you decide you need a ride." Maybe he would stop at the Settlement, get some water and be on his way, but if there were a bunch of insane co-eds inside that place like the dirty blonde and the dumbass red head, he would forgo that headache for a few more miles. He could stop and get some from a stream. He did not like settlements too much considering people inside of them usually had no idea what they were doing. He had a feeling this settlement was no different. The screaming dirty blonde proved to be a liability for anyone and when he righted up the bike, he took off, passing the caravan as he headed up the road and out of sight.
Grant saw all of the QRF getting ready to go. There was aparently a hoard after a group of their people who had left. He knew they needed backup. Even if he wasn't supposed to go now, he knew he needed to.
Grabbing his gun with all the others he loaded into one of the vehicles. His gun rested on his lap as they drove down the road.
When they stopped he got out. He wasn't going to start shooting till orders were given.
Grant set up with the other snipers, his gun trained on the stumblers. His sights Locke onto one. Reaching into his pocket he placed a piece of gum in his mouth. It helped calm his nerves, he needed it to shoot.
Hearing the order shoot he pulled the trigger. A stumbler dropped, rolling to the ground.

The guns started firing and the biker took his leave. As she sat on the back porch, her eyes went over the lake as she saw the steam rising up and away into the sky. She jumped a little bit as she heard the screaming and the bullets smashing into the skulls of the risen dead. She knew this insanity would only bring more walkers their way. The noise was too much. What started as a simple outing for her to get some blood samples turned into a complete cluster with the rain of fire coming down all around her.
But this was opportunity knocking, and loudly too.
Remy saw this as her chance to get away. She had nothing she could contribute right now considering she had no gun. She went through this life without one for the most part and she survived just fine. Rifling through the backpack she picked out the prepackaged food and water bottle she packed for herself and put them in any spare pockets she had. She decided to leave the backpack at the bottom of the stairs in case they wanted to take it with them and quietly, quickly, she moved towards the edge of the lake, looking over her shoulder every other step to make sure they were still occupied with the horde that was coming their way. She followed the edge of the lake into a more dense part, heading back east since the horde was coming from the west. If she came across any, the machete would come in handy. She didn't know where she was going, but she slipped away again.

"name's rose By the way."She pulled her gun up to the ready"you're going to want me at your gunner's,Not to toot any horns, but im easily a better shot then any of your guys" she didnt off an explanation.
She crouched down next to her,"I can stay back and cover you from here if you want me too."She aimed back and fired twice. The eye-sockets blowing out two stoners
After Red shot two rotters and asked about staying behind; Charlie rolled her eyes. Had she not been clear? Did she not say they were getting the fuck out of there? She wasn't going to waste her breathe and even more time. There was nothing forcing her to care for this woman and her well-being. She had given Red an opportunity to get away and if she wasn't going to take it, that was her perogative.
"Okay, thanks for the help nice to know ya byebye!" Charlie said, and then made a run for the QRF, staying to the side of the road while the bullets of the QRF's snipers flew over through the middle. Charlie sprinted and reached the convoy exhausted but relieved, falling into Ellen's hands and giving her a nice long kiss on the mouth. Some tongue came into action as well and it didn't seem like Ellen was fighting it off either but instead just kissed her right back.
Charlie didn't want to hide her feelings for Ellen anymore and today was yet another reminder that every day could be their last. Ellen and her were pretty much a public secret and it was about high time they made it official and became more clear on the matter towards eachother as well. After the kiss Charlie kept her forehead towards Ellen's and looked her in the eyes.
"I thought that was it for me." Charlie said. "First the damn corpses, then the fucking bear..."
Charlie gave Ellen a quick kiss on the mouth again. She had saved herself but would feel pretty bad if Red or the others would buy the farm as well. She let go of Ellen and grabbed an M24 sniper rifle from one of the jeeps and set up right next to Ellen. They could take on the horde and eradicate them before they had a chance to get to them. But still, she hoped Red and the others would run to the convoy as well instead of getting overrun by the horde.
"Let's give the others a fighting chance!" Charlie said. "Let's do this!"
Aiming through the scope of the rifle, Charlie started shooting at the horde as well hoping the others could make it.
Ellen kissed Charlie right back. A tear ran past her eye as she did. She was just so relieved Charlie was safe and by her side again. For a moment she thought about what her dad would think kissing Charlie with him present but it went as quickly as it came. All that mattered at this moment was the love she felt for Charlie.
When they were done kissing, Charlie said they'd need to give the others a chance as well. Charlie grabbed a rifle and set up next to Ellen, it was time to go to town on these walkers. Randall was still there after all, and he was a good friend and Ellen hated to see him get hurt or worse.
Staring down the scope of her rifle, Ellen started popping walker heads one by one hoping Randall would by okay.
"allright....fuck this..." She finished off her magazine, the Stoners popping down like flies. she swung the strap around her back and pulled her cricket bat up. She stalked into the bushes and used the skills she had hone in the time since the beginning of this hell, to avoid the stoners.
She pulled her gun back up as she got behind the group of snipers and fell in line next to the blonde girl.
As the biker passed by, Mac aimed his Honey Badger assault rifle at him, ordering him to stop. The man didn't comply however, leaving Mac to get out the way and firing on him along with some other guards. Whether or not one of the bullets connected remained to be seen. Why didn't the bastard just stop!? Going by the noise of the bike Mac knew this was the guy responsible for the horde coming this way.
"Leave him!" Mac ordered the other guards. "Focus on the horde!"
Mac had an ACOG on the Honey Badger and even though it didn't zoom in as far as a sniper scope, he was still able to make headshot and thinning out the horde. He paused for a moment when Charlie arrived with them and immediately frenched his daughter. He knew it was bound to happen sooner or later and Ellen and Charlie were so obvious about eachother it was just a matter of time. Mac had an idea about how his daughter felt about her best friend, and it didn't matter to him that she had fallen in love with a girl. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered to him. Although he couldn't feel relieved somehow his oldest was at a lesser risk, if none at all, at getting pregnant being with a girl than being with a guy. Giving birth was very risky nowadays and at least one of his daughters was out of the danger zone for now. Still, he knew Anne-Marie was about as straight as could be and she had guys hovering over her ever since they got to Bear Lake.
But that was not the main concern now. This horde couldn't reach the camp. His teenage daughter's raging hormones were a worry for another day. After Charlie and Ellen were done displaying affections they got back to thinning out the horde. As soon as it would, Mac would take a few of Ellen's guys and go in a bit closer.
Grant saw the bike go off, and the loud sound it made. It wa obvious what brought the hoard. He thought they had all been cleared out of here, that why Bear Lake was so good. Grant didn't fire at the bike, instead kept shooting at the Stumblers. If he wanted to he could have killed the man. If ordered to he would, or at least stop him, but he decided he wouldn't. They way the man was he'd be dead anyday now.
From the cornr of his eye he saw Ellen and the girl named Charlie making out. He felt the humor in that, Ellen's dad wanting her to bring home a good man. Guess that won't happen. He hadn't even been here long and he knew the women had chemistry, the way they interacted. Was a shame, Grant thought, Ellen was kind of cute.
He fired another shot, his silent sniper taking one down. Focussing his scope he saw a farther one. It dropped and he moved onto his next target. He kept shooting till they were starting to thin. Not having brought his P90 he would stay back, didn't need to risk his life. He was better with a sniper anyhow.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
