Roman shivered, sleeping inside a cold car wasn't the best of his ideas. He reached for his backpack and pulled out a rolled up thermal blanket hoping to retain what heat he had left. He lifted his pack to be his pillow and said his prayers, for some reason he couldn't sleep without saying them. Roman closed his eyes and tried counting sheep. But then a bone chilling snarl came from outside the car made sleeping next to impossible. There was no mistaking that for an animal, that had to be only a walker as the awkard shuffling of feet was heard.
"You got to be kidding me."
He laid there motionless only pulling the cover over his head to completely conceal his body. He knew they had good eyesight but their sense of smell was like a bloodhound. Hopefully this one had its faced bashed in and couldn't smell. Even in the darkness he knew his gun was right beside him, but he thought of his options. If he grabbed his gun and shot the walker, it might attract more and God knows what or who else that's here. But if he didn't, that walker could smell him and he'd be in big trouble. Shit wasn't going his way today.

Michael searched the kit and began laughing as he found good stuff "Bandages, morphine, scissors, stitches, antibiotics... the whole shu-fucking-bang" This he thought was good. He took some of the important stuff and placed a little in his own backpacks first aid kit before turning the gas stove on and emptying a can of spaghettio's into a pot. He looked over to Kevin "Want any Kev?"

Roman was slowly starting to reach for his shotgun when he heard the walker's shuffling feet stop and follow with a a strange sucking sound, almost as if he was sniffing around. His eyes widened in the darkness as the walker's snarls were getting louder and closer to the window, followed by a loud thudding to the side of the car.
"This about to wake the whole dang neighborhood, but I can't use my gun either."
One shell would be all he needs to finish the job but firing that would be as bad as a glowing "Eat Me" sign aimed at him. He reached back to open the car door behind him and rolled out his bag and himself back on the street. Here the moonlight lit up his surroundings perfectly. He could now see the dark form of the walker slamming his body against the side of the car. If he was gonna do something he had to do it now.
"Alright big boy you want in so badly?"
He wrapped his arm around with the thermal blanket so his arm wouldn't get scratched as he jumped back in the car and unlocked the door before kicking it open. It knocked the walker on the ground but it was getting up fast and almost leaped into the backseat of the car just as Roman was getting out.
"Keep it then!"
Roman slammed the door in its face and quickly ran around the car to close the other side. He backed away from the car holding his shotgun in hand incase it didn't work but the slow rocking of the car confirmed it did. He checked himself to make sure he didn't get any scratches or marks but he looked okay. He grabbed his bike from the side of the car and took his bag to a metal gate and slunk his back on it.
"Great, just great. First night in New York and i get kicked out of my bed by a walker. And now I'm stuck here, in the cold.....This sucks."
Kevin smiled as Stephanie said she would start, so he looked at her and listened as she spoke. Kevin smiled as she said she robbed drug dealers. “Sort of Robin Hood, only the dark version.” Kevin joked as he continued to listen. Shortly after that she finished her story and asked who was next. “I don’t mind.” Kevin said with a little smile. “Nice to know more about you by the way.” He added.
Just as he was about to start Michael asked if he wanted a bit off the food he was preparing. “That would be nice Michael thanks.” Kevin said with a smile. Then it was quiet for a bit as Kevin was thinking on how to start his story. But just as he was about to start he could hear a noise upstairs, he heard the gate, it was very faint. “Michael, I think someone is up there, did you hear it too?” Kevin asked worried.

Michael drew his pistol and threw his spare keys to Kevin "Ive got a slight headache from earlier... check it out, use the darkness and the fence to your advantage. Ill watch the bottom of the stairs. You start coming down, Ill ask 'Flash'... you reply 'Thunder'. Understand?" He felt he could currently only trust Kevin and half of his mind was worried about the girls they had brought in.

Kevin smiled as Stephanie said she would start, so he looked at her and listened as she spoke. Kevin smiled as she said she robbed drug dealers. “Sort of Robin Hood, only the dark version.”
"Yeah, that was me," Stephanie deadpanned, "only Robin Hood never had a girl in any port, though," she added with a sly chuckle. Leaning back in her chair, Stephanie smiled at both Tory and Lizzy as if to say, 'things are gonna' be alright'. Then, before Kevin, who'd said he would go next, could begin, he mentioned something about hearing a noise from outside. As he and Michael conversed about it, Stephanie leaned forward; she wanted to help them but didn't quite know what to do. "What;s going on, fellas'?" she asked quietly; if there was someone - or something - out there, the last thing she wanted to do was make enough noise to alert whoever or whatever was out there to their presence.

Tory was glad when Steph volunteered to tell her story first. It had to have been only two weeks ago Tory figured, when her life had unraveled for a second time. The screams, the moans, the gunshots -she put it out of her mind and concentrated on the story being told, back in school she would have loved sitting and talking about memories, but Tory decided she'd do her best to opt out this time.
So Stephanie is a female Robin Hood. Tory smiled at Kevin's comment, it made her laugh, and Steph's glance helped assure her that this place would be fine. Tory wasn't certain how long Michael would let them stay, but she hoped it would be for a while yet.
Kevin's next. Tory felt like she dodged a bullet when he volunteered to go after Steph was finished. She'd tell her story when it was her turn, but there was no way she was prepared to go over the details of her parent's death. Stephanie must have left things out as well. Tory reasoned. She mentioned having someone waiting in port before all this.
Tory's thoughts and Kevin's story were interrupted by a noise outside. It sounds like the gate. She didn't give it much of a thought at first. Probably a stray dog or the wind. It's soundproof down here, right? But, the actions of Tory's companions made her worry a bit more. Could yet another new person be outside?

Roman struggled keeping himself both warm and awake. The cold air kept him alert at first but now the exhaustion of non-stop moving for two weeks was getting to him. He could have been nice and cozy as he glared back at the car where the walker was still trapped and lazily looked back through the rear window.
" I swear to the God I would shoot you if I wasn't worried about your rotten buddies crawling out the woodwork."
That bit of adrenaline that got him out the car was already fading away and his eyes was getting drowsy. He first tried smacking himself to keep awake but all it did was make his face hurt and drowsy. He thought of banging the side of the gate but he didn't want to make too much noise for the walkers to follow. Then a small thought popped in his head as he looked at his bag, he remember packing something. He shifted through it and pulled out a silver canister. He remember they made some coffee in Virginia before they headed out from that Walmart they stashed themselves in. It's been so long ago, he wondered if it was still good. He opened the top and sniffed it, still smelled like coffe.
"Well, bottoms up I guess."
It never made it down his throat, as soon as he the drink touched his tongue he spat it out and coughed loudly. He couldn't help it, it was the most horrid thing he ever drunken in his life.
"God! I wouldn't even give that to the geeks! Shit that was bad!"
Kevin immediately went into danger modus, he caught the spare keys as Michael threw them. He listened to Michael his instructions and nodded. “Flash, Thunder, got it.” Kevin said as he grabbed his gun from the holster with his free hand. He could see that Michael trusted him and he was happy for that and just like Michael he wasn’t sure about all the girls, yes they saved them and where kind but you could never know, he could notice Michael was having the same thought since he kept a close eye on them.
Then Kevin heard how Stephanie asked if she could help. “No I think we got it covered, you take care of the girls.” Kev joked with a wink referring to her comment from earlier. He tried to lighten up the mood a bit, since he didn’t want to be too tense when he was going to check things out.
Kevin gave Michael a nod and slowly went upstairs. He softly opened the backdoor that lead into the ally, but instead of fully opening he just pushed it far enough so he could peek through to see who or what was at the gate. Michael told him to use darkness and he did. He saw one guy, he didn’t knew if he was alone, so he softly opened the door without making noise and sneaked closer to him. When he got closer he raised his gun. “Helow there, I have a gun pointed on you so no funny tricks, tell me what business you have here and do you got any friend?” Kevin asked in a strict tone.

Roman was cleaning his tongue with the sleeve when he heard a voice come from behind saying he had a gun. He still had his shotgun in his hand so he put that down first and standing up showing he was now unarmed. Turning around might not be a good idea incase this guy has an itchy trigger finger and thinks he's moving too fast.
"I was just passing through taking a nap in that blue car over there. But, you probably won't believe me when I say this, but the walker kicked me out and locked me out in the cold."
Hearing himself say that was much funnier as he gave a small chuckle but he tried to keep his movements calm as possible. One wrong slip and bye bye Roman.

"You got it, Kevin," Stephanie replied as Kevin went to check on whatever noise they'd heard earlier. Making sure her nine was within quick distance, she decided to take up a seat next to Tory, if not for any other reason than to at least keep her company. "Everything alright, Tory?" she asked as she sat down, taking a moment to look back towards the door, wondering what was going on.

"Everything alright, Tory?" she asked as she sat down, taking a moment to look back towards the door, wondering what was going on.
"Ya, I'm fine." Tory replied, "It's...just been hard lately, thanks for showing up when you did earlier, I would've probably gotten myself lost otherwise." Or worse. she thought after making the joke. Am I fine? Tory wasn't sure; she was still grieving underneath her smile.Probably not. She realized, but she knew she would be, the people around her were very kind. "So, do you think there's something up there?" Tory asked after answering Steph's question, noticing her gaze. Tory couldn't help but observe, both Steph and the guys seemed to be prepared for anything.
Kevin noticed how the guy dropped his shotgun and slowly stood up, not turning around yet, which was a sign that he wasn’t going to try anything, at least that was what Kevin hoped. Kevin couldn’t help but laugh a little as the guy told how a walker kicked him out.
“You where home too late or..?” Kevin joked referring to the walker kicking him out. With that joke he wanted to lighten up the mood a bit. Shortly after his face went serious again. “Ok slowly turn around and kick the shotgun under the fence, then we can talk without guns.” Kevin said softly keeping his aim at the guy.

Roman couldn't help but laugh when the guy asked was I home too late. He needed a good chuckle, especially in a dark and gloomy world like this, laughs to him were treasures. He shrugged.
"I guess I didn't pull out my "Now Legal Adult" card fast enough."
He obliged to the guy's demand and kicked his shotgun underneath the gate. Hopefully it didn't get scratched, dead or alive his uncle would kill him if he damaged that thing. He slowly turned around, and saw a guy who looked like he should be a model.
"You probably get asked this a lot but have you ever worked for Calvin Klein? Becuase I swear I've seen you in one of my girlfriend's magazines."
Kevin laughed once more as the guy made a joke. He was funny, but still he was careful, trusting people was dangerous these days. Shortly after the guy turned around and kicked his shotgun under the gate. Kevin lowered his gun, walked closer and grabbed the shotgun. Kevin then laughed at the guy his comment about him being a model. “Good thing you said you have a girlfriend or I would think you are trying to flirt with me.” Kevin said with a smile. Then he threw back his head and tried to take a pose, he meant it as a joke of course.
“But no I’m not a model.” He said with a smile.
He raised his hand towards the guy so he could shake it through the gaps of the gate. “My name is Kevin, and you are?” Kevin asked trying to get serious again.

"So, do you think there's something up there?" Tory asked after answering Steph's question, noticing her gaze.
"Could be," Stephanie replied, glancing back up towards the exit and wondering what was going on. "Could be nothing, though; these days, you can't really be too sure of anything." Noticing Tory's demeanor as she looked back around the restaurant, Stephanie looked over at the young girl. "You alright, Tory?" she asked, her voice taking on a softer edge to it as she spoke.

Roman smiled as the guy started to laugh, although he just met the guy at gunpoint he seemed to be a cool dude. Plus he laughed at his jokes, that had to count for something right? When the guy said he thought Roman might have been flirting with him he started to chuckle a bit.
"Naw man I'm straight, but I haven't been in the dating scene for a long time. Besides I think most of the girls around here prefer the smelly, rotting, flesh-eating types who's pick up lines starts with, "Uuuugggggh"
He noticed the guy walked up to the gate and extended his hand out and gave out his name, Kevin. Roman obliged and shook the man's head and he should be fair and give out his.
"I'm Roman, but most people just calm me Rome for short."

Kevin laughed when the guy told him that girls would rather have walkers these days.
“Yup doomed to be gay, but you are straight huh, that what they all say.” Kevin joked back. After shaking hands Kev finally learned his name, it was Roman or Rome short. “Well nice to meet you Rome, I’m Paris.” Kevin joked again referring to his nickname being a capital city.
The guy seemed ok, but Kevin had no idea if Michael would allow any more people, but he wasn’t planning to let him sleep out in this cold. “Well we have a small group here and I think I can offer you a sleeping spot for the night, we’ll see if that one night can be more, but that depends if you are to be trusted.” Kevin said in a more stern tone. “I hope you are not a part of a big group that is going to kill us or something and that is watching you right now, cause I swear I will kill you before they kill me.” He added.
Then a small smile appeared again. “That being said, I will open the gate so you can get in if you want, we will keep the shotgun until we trust you thought.” Kevin said. “It’s either that or I’ll give you the shotgun back and the gate remains closed.” He added. Kevin didn’t want to be the stern guy, but in this world you had to watch who to trust. “So what will it be.” Kev asked once more with a little smile.

"You alright, Tory?" she asked, her voice taking on a softer edge to it as she spoke.
"I don't know," Tory could tell Steph cared, but how does one open up about something this big? The more she sat the more her thoughts ate at her; though, she couldn't form her thoughts into word, not without losing her composure. She began again quietly. "I just...I honestly don't know. I don't know where to go, I don't know what to do. I..." Tory paused to rub her eye. "I was with my parents a couple weeks ago, with a group, a convoy, we had all been together since the beginning and, and now I'm...the only one left." She almost said she was alone, but that couldn't be true...there were four people in the room with her and another one outside. "I just wish I could take it all back, all of it..the death, the walkers...I miss the old world: my mom, my dad, my friends, everyone."
Tory wiped her eyes, she was in tears."I don't even have anything to remember them by. I thought I had a picture of my parents, but I can't find it...it's probably laying in the woods somewhere. My mom gave it to me, she knew what was going to happen and she gave it to me, and I lost it."
"The worst part is she knew it was going to happen, I knew, we all knew. There were too many walkers, my mom was bit, my dad was at the front, she gave me a bag and forced me to run. I was still running when we met. I mean...Why us? Why did we have to be torn apart? Why did this world have to be torn apart?" While painful, it felt relieving to talk about it. Tory did her best to control her tears, wiping them from her cheek. Though maybe only a few seconds, she felt like she had talked for quite awhile. "I'm sorry, I know happiness is hard to come by these days, I hope I didn't ruin the mood too much for all of ya." Maybe it was the Minnesota Nice in her blood, but she felt bad for taking the smiles off people's faces rather than putting them on. She glanced at the door again, Kevin sure is taking a long time.

Roman snickered a bit when Kevin renamed himself Paris. Sure Roman was a weird name, but being named after an ancient empire who's well known gives you a warm fuzzy feeling sometimes. At least he thought so. When the guy mentioned they might have a place he could stay for the night he almost did a "Holy Ghost take me now" routine Roman remembered happen a lot in church, but he noticed the guy got serious again mentioned some plan of him being he scapegoat for an invasion type deal.
"Nope I'm just a simple fun lovin, music playin, jokester who got kicked out of a car by a walker. No schemes, no planing, or any of that bullshit. But I understand if you got to keep the gun, just make sure it's nice and clean, undead or alive my uncle would kick my ass if his prized possession was damaged in anyway."
As soon as those words left his lips he already started missing his family and his old life. He gave a smile of imagining what his uncle would do if he would see him again but he shook his head a bit trying to concentrate at the situation at hand.
"If it's not too much trouble I would gladly like to accept your offer."
