"Fellow survivors if you are reaching this respond. I am Franscesca Bodkin and I want to help. If you are a lone survivor or group of stragglers you are welcome as long as you are willing to pull your weight to help everyone. Settlements if you are receiving this broadcast respond. For far too long settlement have been fighting and it is time for assistance. The 14th Colonies goal in this broadcast is to make contact with others and reach diplomacy, trade, and a unified front against the bandits and undead. I repeat if you are receiving this broadcast respond now"
Tim had awoken early. He appreciated the early mornings. His son still asleep, the cabin of the ship quiet, only themspund of waves against the boat and the shore. That's where he slept, on his boat, where he felt most at ease. As he made his away above deck he stopped. The sound a radio caught his attention. One of his men on the dock was playing with a ham radio they pulled from a shipping cargo.
Tim quickly hopped off the deck and onto the dock. He walked up to the man. "What is it," he said calmly, rubbing his eyes.
"Message over one of the waves. On going broadcast for survivors. Someone named Fran Bodkin. She's asking for help or something." The man said letting the message play for Timothy to hear.
Timothy only nodded. "Let me respond, tell everyone else to stay off the line."
He cleared his throats as he pressed the recovered. "Good morning Francesca. I hope you're still able to hear this, that the line hasn't gone dead. My name is Timothy Smithson. I am the leader of a settlement dubbed the factory. We rest along the Atlantic. If you wish to respond I'd like to work out details on a private channel, away from open ears."
He stopped the button and looked at the man before him, "keep a watch on this, signal me if we get a response."

Francesca watched radio carefully waiting for anything. When she got a response she finally exhaled. "I can still hear you, Yes. Good morning Timothy, How are you" she asked kindly for a breif moment. Further listening to what the man had to say before nodding her head slowly. "Okay sounds good. Try this private channel...(insert channel here because I don't know radios)" She paused waiting for a response before finally switching over to the private channel she had told him about.
The redhead brushed a strand of her hair back as she began to speak again."We reside in the New England Region. My settlement is the Capitol as you may call it of a Union of Settlements.. the US in a lot of regards." Smiling a little to herself at that fact. "We just call it Fourteenth Colony though.. Now down to buisness" she said sharply.
"You mentioned the Atlantic? We have a few coastal settlements.. villages so to speak that we have contact with but are main Sea Line is Atlantis. I can arrange for either a land caravan or sea caravan to come and introduce my settlements goals in person if you like? Does either land or sea caravan work? Also dont worry about the land caravan getting harmed.. Tayasha once lead a caravan from Ohio to somewhere in Northern Alberta Canada.. so their is no trouble with getting there. But Yusuf.. the leader of Atlantis will want a formal meeting before he starts sending his ships down willy nilly with supplies."
Chuckling a little over the radio. "I must warn you he is a good sort but very flirty" She continued calming down her laughter before realizing she had been rambling. "I apologize if this is overwhelming. The world is not as small as we thought huh? You understanding all this? I can be a bit overwhelming.. this can be overwhelming.. the idea of trade and such. Makes it almost sound like were back in the old days of history"
Tim walked down the dock. He didn't even make it to his boat before he radio went off again. Turning around he took the radio from the man and moved back to his boat. As the woman on the other end spoke he leaned against railing. He set the radio beside him, listening to the woman speak of trade, of other strongholds.
He had known of other places still alive. Kennedy and Gwendolyn were examples of this. There was bound to be more out there. But still the sound of trade was to much to pass up. If he played his cards right he had the chance to control how this went. He could trade very little for a a lot and have his depts handled to Kennedy every month.
Clearing his throat he waited for the woman, Francesscs to stop talking. When she did he pressed the button to speak. "Beautiful day isn't it, at least where I am. Sun is shining high this time of year. Only light due on the grass. Snow is just about gone where I am. Getting warmer each day." He paused, letting go of the button in case she was quick to answer.
When she didn't he pressed it again. "I must say miss Francine you offer quite a bit. You don't even know me or who I am. And already you talk about trade, about other settlements and where you are. You are quick to trust it seems. While maybe foolish it is commendable."
He paused before speaking again. "While I'm interested in trade, I'm interested in your colony as well. You said other villages, may I ask how many? I don't know how much I have to offer. My community is not very big. We barely get by as it is. That being said the idea of trade is always alluring. While I'm willing to meet this Yusuf, I wish to do it away from my people. There's an island not far from here, (insert island name as NC has to many to choose). I can have a small group meet you and this Yusuf there. I advise travelling by sea, the appears to be more dangerous most days going by land. Some of the other settlements in my area don't play as nice. Though if I can hear you, I assume they can as well. So take caution miss Francesca."
The thought of the man flirting with him made him laugh. "While as flattering as his flirting may be I am an old man. I'm sure he will find a mOre calmling presences elsewhere when it comes to that. I myself am no stranger to trade and agreements. I have been making them since long before all this started. I know that costs that have since came with it, both the good and the bad. Let's say this meeting will see if I should make further deals with you and your group."

Francesca saw little reason to remark about the weather. They both couldn't see how it was for the other anyways so why mention it. However when he spoke again this time she paid closer attention. "Miss? What makes you think I am some lonely old cat lady sitting next to this radio" She said sarcastically with a smile before continuing. "I never said where we are. Simply the region. And thanks I suppose" She shrugged in her seat.
"We need nothing. The Fourteenth Colony is self sufficient. We like to help those settlements in turn for better meant of everyone. One random act of kindness can do a lot these days. As for the villages.. cant say always changing. Currently we have have a Jaula, Bunkertown, and Atlantis as are big hands in this whole operation. " she paused thinking over his warning very carefully. "I see. Yes that is always a issue these days. Caution will be taken like we always do"
"Yusuf is bisexual.. and I doubt he would mind someone older" she laughed. "Okay that sounds reasonable. I will inform Yusuf if this and he should see you in a few weeks depending on the wind.. I am not the best with sailing knowledge." She smiled toward the women sitting next to her steadily typing the conversation word by word. Thank God for Stenographers. A baby began crying in the background and a new voice answered. A more masculine voice hinting of german background. "My apologize sir. Francesca had to check on her baby. She told me to ask if you had anymore questions?"
Timothy laughed at her reply. She was very straightforward, and he didn't know if to take it as good or bad. Wanting nothing in return sent up flags in his brain. Everyone wanted something. Be it something done for them, or something done with them. The thought of need absolutely nothing was bizarre. Even with everything he had, Kennedy even wanted more. You always need more.
"Who said Miss refers to you being an old. Miss America sure wasn't old. That being said you spoke nothing of a husband. The error of no caution also applies you are younger, naive. So miss seemed fitting. A formality if you will. Something we strive for with my group. Civil, formal, cooperative. Those are our goals."
He paused. "I'd say tell Yusuf that I'm not interested. That my heart belonged to my wife and now the sea. Though I assume that would make him try harder. I assure you there is a lot better people he can flirt with here." Tim laughed again, "I look forward to seein Mr. yusuf when he arrives. I will have my men ready in a weeks time, and will have people watching out for your arrival."
Looking at the radio he smiled. "Ms. Francesca, I hope to see you as well. Not just Yusuf. I am making this deal with your colony, not the village. As self sufficient as you may be, I'm sure I will have some stuff to offer. Gifts if you will at the very least." He paused yet again, looking at the water. Leaving his finger off the button he heard a voice.
"Tell Francesca I wish her luck. I just wish to know what day they will arrive on, and what I am to expect. How many numbers, how many ships and so on. So I'm not going in blind if you will."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
