Donavan couldn't help but laugh when Lila nearly went cross-eyed. "I probably should've warned you that it was some really strong stuff" He said between chuckles. Donavan continued to follow Lila and Frank towards the house near the center of the settlement and grinned brightly when Lila mentioned getting something to eat "Thank God, if I had to eat another one of Andrew's homemade MRE's I was gonna lose my mind" He said smiling at the memory of his old friend. His smile quickly vanished as he remembered his friends fate walked silently as Frank and Lila talked about the settlement.

Lila put the jar of hooch down on a counter as she went into the larger house. All the doors were open since no one was really around to break in. There were no outsiders getting in without them knowing about it so it felt safe enough to leave the doors to the main house open.
Speaking to Frank, she raised a brow as he spoke about living in a small apartment and just making rent. "I thought you were a doctor. Didn't you make good money like that? All the doctors I ever knew were pretty well off. Well, except for Tommy, back in Texas. He was paying off all that schooling when he got home. I think he was still living at home."
She moved to grab some plates and open up some cans of food. They had stew and some pickled vegetables she would serve up for them. At least the supplies and food were still here after the chaos of what happened before she left. She thought about Tommy and wondered if he survived all this. She was a long way from Texas though and she knew that. Thinking of old friends did nothing but waste time now.
"Were you just starting out or something? I don't take you as some sort of college graduate."
She grabbed the can opener and started to serve of the canned meal. Thankfully the stove was gas and the lines hadn't been disrupted...yet. Sooner or later they would run out though and she was going to take advantage of what they could get. She lit one of the burners and dumped the stew into a pot that was cleaned and sitting in the sink.
"What about you Donavan? What did you do before all this?" She left her own background out, for now. She had no problem answering any questions they may have about her, but she was a bit more hesitant to talk about the community. She would leave that to Sean if he wanted to tell them anything. For all she knew, these two would be gone by the morning. "You live in a basement apartment too?" She looked at Frank and flashed him a bit of a smirk as she stirred the food in the pot.

Donavan chuckled lightly "No I didn't live in a basement apartment, I spent most of my time on the road, I was a trucker before all this."
Donavan smiled and pointed at the jar of whiskey "As for the shine, that was something I learned to make after my brother got sick and needed money for his payments, I started smuggling to get some extra cash and some of the people I moved stuff for taught me some of the tools of their trade, moonshine being one of them."
Donavan smiled and pointed towards the road, "I left my rig up by the hill so if Sean allows it I can bring it over here and set up a still and teach some people how to use it if you like, but what about you Lila? What did you do before all this?"

As Ralse noticed how the stranger dropped the floor and from what the could tell passed out, he wanted to just leave him there. But it was Aaron who spoke up and told him they had to help. Both of them got out of the guard tower, opened the gate and made their way to the guy. When eventually reaching him, the first thing Ralse did was get the bow and arrow. While Aaron stepped closer. The last thing the guy did, before fully passing out, was asking for help.
For a brief second both of them doubted if he was bitten or not. But they had to get her inside and find out. It wasn’t a smart decision to bring him in without checking, but with the gate open and the tower unguarded, it wasn’t safe at all to stay outside. Aaron grabbed the guy from the floor and carried him inside, Ralse followed, with the weapons and closed the gate behind him.
Once inside Ralse went to Sean, to tell him what was going on, while Aaron carried the guy to the med bay. When Aaron walked inside with the guy, he noticed Joy and Jennifer. “I didn’t check him on bites yet, but he fainted just outside the wall, I have no clue what is going on.” Aaron explained. Joy and Jennifer immediately started to strip the guy from his clothes, to be sure he wasn’t bitten. After removing everything, all of the people in the room where a bit shocked. Everyone was expecting a male torso, but underneath all those layers of clothing, was a bra and panties.
Meanwhile Ralse went to get Sean.
*Inside the house of Sean and Jonah*
Sean just arrived to get Jonah, he wanted to let him meet the new people, besides he needed to get out, ever since the accident he didn’t set foot out of the house. But together with Sean, he was safe. “Jo, where are you?” Sean yelled. “We need to t….” but before he could finish he heard knocking on the door. Sean turned around and opened the door. “Sean you need to come with me, we just brought someone inside, he fainted just outside the wall, we didn’t check him on bite marks yet, but we brought him in, cause you know, you always tell us to help everyone in need.” Ralse explained. Sean rolled his eyes. “Yeah but not at the cost of our safety.” He spoke annoyed. “Where is that person now?” Sean asked. “No worries, he is in the med bay, Aaron is there too and he is armed.” Ralse spoke slightly smiling. Sean let out a sigh of relief. “Well, we have a doctor, I’ll go fetch him, then he can show what he can do, gain trust.” Sean spoke. He then turned around. “Jonah, stay inside, I’ll come get you, when all the new people will have a big meal!” he yelled. “You stay in here, I need him guarded after what happened.” Sean whispered to Ralse. Seemed Ralse got the point and he just nodded, before walking over to the living room, to find himself a seat on the couch.
Sean closed the door behind him and rushed to the big room, where everyone gathered. He noticed Lila, Donovan and Frank and walked over to their side. He stayed calm, since there was no reason to spread panic, besides Aaron was there, he would make sure everyone was safe. When he reached them he looked at Frank. “Hey, there, sorry to interrupt, but Frank, do you mind joining me, to the med bay?” Sean asked. “I wish we could just stay here and have a nice meal in combination with a good talk, but that will have to wait a bit.” He spoke. “We found a guy, he fainted right outside the walls and thought it would be nice to have a doctor his opinion, both Joy and Jennifer are busy with him, but they both have minor medical knowledge.” Sean spoke. He then waited for Frank his answer, depending on what he would answer, Sean would be able to see if he was to be trusted.
(So think it’s handy we have a posting order :-), meaning for those new and not aware of what it is, that you wait for the guy before you to post, before you post, if for some reason, you don’t have anything to post/say then you just post and say skip me, until the next round ;-) So order is: Frank, Lila, Donovan, Sean, Aryn and if somebody else wants to join in, he is at the end of the order. Hope it’s ok for everyone ;-) )

"Doctor of Emergency Medicine," he said. He supposed if you weren't in the medical field, you didn't know how much of an explanation that was. "A lot of times, people who went to the ER couldn't pay. And we couldn't just send someone away when they were bleeding to death. So the biggest cost to cut was in salaries. I definitely wasn't poor, but I didn't rake in the money like most doctors," he explained, looking out the window at the community outside. People went freely, going on with chores mostly. Lot of gardening going on outside. And the gas lines worked. Water too, he figured.
"It was a nice apartment. Walk in closet, pantry, stand up shower. Biggest studio I'd ever seen," he said.
"What proof do you make?" he asked. Antiseptic wasn't easy to come by these days, and a lot of it was expired when you could find it. High enough proof alcohol would be invaluable to fight infections.
Before he could get an answer, Sean came in and asked Frank to come with him. To the med bay. It seemed he had his first patient already.
“I wish we could just stay here and have a nice meal in combination with a good talk, but that will have to wait a bit. We found a guy, he fainted right outside the walls and thought it would be nice to have a doctor his opinion, both Joy and Jennifer are busy with him, but they both have minor medical knowledge," he said. Frank nodded slightly as he walked with Sean.
"Of course," he said, slightly absently. In reality, he was going through likely problems to look for. Dehydration, malnutrition, infection, perhaps even a bite. That's if he was lucky. If he wasn't, it would be something worse. And he had no idea of their setup.
"What kind of capabilities do you have, as far as treatment goes? Equipment, supplies, personnel, so on?" he asked.

Lila stirred the canned stew in the pot as it warmed up, keeping the heat low and not using too much of it. It wouldn't take long to heat up the food for everyone and as Frank explained why he made so little money, she nodded in understanding. "That was mighty nice of you. I had friends in that situation, you know, where they were broke and couldn't pay for medical bills."
When she thought the stew was properly heated, she quickly shut off the burner on the stove and picked up the pot as Donovan said he was a trucker. But they were interrupted by Sean, who she believed was coming to get some food too. Instead, he needed the assistance of the doctor. Now, normally, she would have insisted Frank eat before doing anything, but he didn't look terribly exhausted or starving at the moment. Hell, he was probably in better shape then she was when they all met at the front of the gates.
"Don't worry, I'll keep a bowl warm for you. Go do what you have to do."
Instead of pouring it all into a bowl where it would get cold and attract flies, she just left it in the pot where it could simmer on the stove. She poured Donovan a bowl though, and even a little for herself, placing it before him with a spoon ready for him to gobble it up.
"So you were a trucker and a moonshiner huh? My daddy was friends with a bunch of truckers. Did you know that Nascar races started because of moonshiners? They'd modify their cars to outrun the cops."
She thought for a second before taking a bite of her stew, pondering it more. "That's about all I can remember about that though. So you must have been all over the place then. What else have you seen out there? Is anything left standing?"

Donavan took a bite of stew before answering Lila's question with "There were a few groups of survivors I ran into but I mostly stayed in Washington because the leader of my group, Andrew was deadest on staying there." Donavan wolfed down the rest of the stew.
"We decided to leave after a group of punks kept attacking us, the idiots never managed to kill any of us but having to kill someone on a daily basis got really old really quick, so we drove around helping anyone that needed it, eventually we got to Kentucky where..." Donavan drew a shaky breath as he continued his story. "Where my group died, some pricks decided to lead a herd of walkers to us so we'd get killed so they could take our supplies, I was drunk when it happened so I was moving slower than the rest and they died making sure I got into the rig."
A dark scowl crossed Donavan's face for a second "The punks came the next day after the herd parted a bit to steal the rig and the supplies but they weren't expecting me to be alive and apparently I scared them so bad they ran straight into the herd the killed my group with. After that I basically just drove around looking for anyone, either to help them or if I was really lucky maybe join them." Donavan paused for a moment "Shit I'm sorry, you probably didn't want to know all that, sorry." Donavan quickly picked up his empty bowl. "Ummm where would you like me to put this?"
Post by Lila Robinson on Apr 5, 2017 9:14:58 GMT -5
Lila sat and ate a bowl herself. She was a lot hungrier then she thought she was, but she also knew the dangers of overeating in this world. It wasn't like you could go home and take a nap and all these salted, preserved foods made you want more and the body tended to reject that. She took a few spoonfuls as he told his tale, going from Washington to Kentucky where he lost his entire group to raiders.
"That's the story most people tell these days. Companions or groups lost to raiders. It makes me wonder if there's any good people left in this world."
She took a few more bites as Donovan hungrily devoured his own meal and asked where he should put the empty bowl. She pointed to the sink as she took another bite, swallowing it down.
"So being a drunk actually saved your life. How ironic is that?" She pushed the bowl that still had a few bites left in it to the side, wishing there was more sides, like cornbread and salad, but in the grand scheme of things, those luxuries were long gone..for now at least.
"Sounds like maybe you were one of the good guys. But you got me curious about supplies in your rig. Maybe we should go get it and bring it in before someone else discovers it out there."
Post by Donavan Mackellan on Apr 6, 2017 3:06:21 GMT -5
Donavan placed his bowl in the sink and turned to face Lila as she suggested getting his rig. "Yeah, that would be a good idea." He said as he pulled a pair of keys out of his jacket. "If you take your gun with you we can go and get the rig now if you want." Donavan looked out the window looking at the sun over the woods and continued. " I mean, it's still light out, and plus..." Donavan chuckled lightly. "I really wanna see how nice of a surprise it'd be for everyone here to see cases of whiskey getting pulled out of the rig, it'd be nice to make people smile again."
Donavan paused for a moment smiling at the idea for a while before quickly snapping out of his little daydream and looked at Lila. "So what do you say? If we go now you get the first case of whiskey." Donavan said chuckling warmly. "Also, we've mostly been talking about me, I wanna know more about you" Donavan chuckled and winked playfully.
Aryn was in Suffolk, virginia, reinforcing the VA national Guard as they tried to sort out who had been wounded and/or infected, and to contain the infected. At this point, only several hundred had been infected, but damn was it Freakin Rampant, and aggressive. There had been a massive influx of sick and wounded into the MASH hospital areas that had been set up. Military and civilian doctors and nurses alike were very busy.
Everything had been going relatively fine, even though there had been an electric tension in the air ever since s/he got the Red Call this morning, and suited up and reported to her pick-up point. Aryn was listening to hir i-pod, with the bud in one ear, and her radio-comms speaker in the other. The song had been fairly soothing, Enya's Orinoco Flow, causing her to smile while also being on the lookout. If all went well, she would be back to zooming around downtown on her bicycle by weeks end, delivering all sorts of stuff.
"This is Fullman, We have a containment breach, south side of Tent 4 and 5. Hackman, get your fireteam there, Double-time." her comms squawked. That was her cue.
Not even bothering to switch off the music (which had since shifted to a different song), Aryn sprinted towards the tent city that had been erected. She slid around the corner - to see Absolute Carnage ensuing.
Several people had been infected, and were now tearing both doctors and other patients, as well as a smattering of National guard officers, to literal Pieces. Hackman was also there, a look of stoney grim-ness on his face. "Laser, sweep left, Silvers, cut right, Ak-Ak, Ten, you're with me. Kill-Switch and Engage."
=Serious business, then.= Aryn thought, as she shouldered the 9mm Sten-ii SMG that s/he had managed to cobble together out of hardware store parts and other doo-dads, the year before.
As the team went to work spewing lead at the dead, it was a turning point. It would never be the same again.
In the improvised medical room, lay Aryn, in a troubled sleep and largely void of clothes, watched over by Aaron.

Sean was glad Frank immediately agreed to come with him. They made their way out of the building at a fast pace, Sean wanted to get to the med bay asap. He looked over his shoulder, while walking, as he listened to Frank his questions. “Well let’s see, I myself have basic medical knowledge, first aid and so on.” Sean replied. “Personnel we have two very capable nurses, but as you know, a nurse isn’t a doctor, so I would say they are very good at what they do, but a doctor would know more.” Sean spoke. “As far as equipment goes, we are pretty much ok, see it as a mini hospital, we might be missing a few things, but we have more than enough to help injured people and threat them.” Sean continued. “Same goes for meds.” He added.
“But my explanation might be a little vague, for the simple reason, that you will see it yourself in a bit.” Sean said as a small smile formed on his face, to let Frank know he appreciated the help. Couple of seconds later Sean entered the med bay, followed by Frank. “Joy how is he doing?” Sean asked worried. “Don’t consider this person a him yet, but let’s talk about that later, for now I’ll stick to him” She replied. “He is already getting a infusion, cause I think he’s dehydrated.” Joy added. Sean raised an eyebrow with the whole gender thing, but when looking over to where Aryn was, he noticed the boobs, he was surprised and didn’t now what to think, but for now it wasn’t his concern, health was more important.
“This is doctor Frank, he’s here to help and hopefully will be able to join the medical team.” Sean spoke as he laid a hand on frank his shoulder. Joy nodded friendly. “Frank, this is Joy and the blonde one is Jennifer.” Sean spoke. “I’ll let you guys work, keep me posted about his, or well, her, status.” Sean spoke before leaving the med bay. He was sure they all woudl get along just fine and he wasn't worried about the stranger his health either, they would fix him for sure, so there was no need for him to stick aorund.

Frank gave a small nod as he studied the patient on the table, along with the assortment of equipment around the room. Things were pretty well set up here. It seemed like, even if they didn't know what the things did or what they were for, the people who had gathered equipment for this place grabbed it anyway on the off chance that someone would come along with the skills to put it to use.
"Jennifer and Joy, good to meet you," he said as he eyed a sink and soap to clean up with. He did so quickly, clearly having done the process thousands of times in the past. When he was done, he dried them and slipped on a pair of exam gloves that hung on the wall next to the sink.
"Alright, lets see what we have here," he said, first taking hold of the patient's hand. Pinching the skin on the back of the hand, he watched it blanche and take a second or so to return to normal. Anything longer than instant was too long.
"Dehydration, moderate to severe, addressed," he said, more to himself. He had made a habit of saying things aloud a long time ago, as a way of confirming what he was saying. People often thought it was crazy, but when he caught himself before giving someone a lethal dose of a drug, he never looked back. "Do we have any electrolyte solution?" he asked. It would help the muscles absorb fluid and retain it, as opposed to the body feeling overloaded with fluid and instantly causing the need for urination.
"As for gender... Do we have a portable x-ray?" he asked the two women. Surest way to tell, get an x-ray of the pelvis. The shape of the bone was distinct, with no way to surgically alter it. And knowing their gender was no small matter. Males and females had different medical needs. It would be possible for them to mistreat the patient without the proper knowledge.

Lila finished up eating her stew, making sure every last little bit of gravy was eaten before putting her bowl in the sink. It was good to have a hot meal and she would leave the rest for Frank on the stove. There was plenty there for anyone else that wanted to come and eat and she suspected Sean would want to grab a bite to eat also with whoever he brought back.
"Yea, let's go. Is whiskey the only thing you got in that rig or are there other supplies too?" She knew they could really use some medical supplies, which was the next run she was going to make. Now that everything had settled down maybe she could go and try to salvage her truck in the ditch as well.
As they started out the house to go and get the rig, she pulled out her gun knowing there could be any danger beyond the gate. She wanted to secure that further as well, but knew that was a big job that would require time, patience and more supplies. There was doubt those supplies were even around, but if they could find one of the big box hardware stores, she could salvage anything.
"You wanna know more about me?" She caught that wink as they got closer to the gate. She pulled it back with a heavy shove to let them out, before shutting it tightly up behind her. "I'm from Texas. There's a start. What else would you like to know about me?" She smiled as she moved with Donavan, making sure the gun was fully loaded as she looked to the dead body of the walker she killed as Donavan and Frank first approached.
Post by Donavan Mackellan on Apr 10, 2017 22:22:51 GMT -5
Donavan exited the house with Lila and started walking to the gate as he answered her question. "No, there's more than whiskey in the rig, there's about a months worth of food and water for a single person along with medical supplies, mostly first aid kits and antibiotics but there are some painkillers, there's also some handmade weapons too, mostly spears and clubs along with a shield or two."
Donavan exited the gate with Lila as she told him that she was from Texas and asked what else he wanted to know. "What did you do in Texas before all this? Did you learn to shoot there?" He asked as they passed the fallen walker. Donavan continued walking down the road with Lila keeping his head on a swivel as he tended to get uneasy when he didn't have a weapon.
He spotted his rig in the distance and pointed out to Lila. "There it is, right at the top of the hill." He said as they approached the rig. As they got closer Donavan noticed two figures by the rig, upon closer inspection Donavan realized they were walkers. "There seem to be a lot of stragglers around." Donavan said. "I got these freaks just be ready to shoot just in case this goes south" Donavan said quickly as he charged the walkers slamming ones head into the side of the rig and kicking the other in the knees knocking it to the ground. Donavan then proceeded to stomp the heads of the walkers he knocked to the ground to ensure that they stayed dead and calmly turned to Lila. "Well, that problem is taken care of." He said as he pulled out the keys to the rig.
"Come on lets get this to Sunrise." Donavan opened the doors to the rig and sat in the drivers seat and started the rig.
It was early morning, just past sunrise, about two weeks after Zero-day happened for most of the northeast and east coast states. Radio signals were getting to be more and more infrequent now, as the national military structure more overtly disintegrated.
Aryn and a good chunk of the militia were holed up in a semi-cleaned out dollar store on the outskirts of the norfolk metro area, between portsmouth and chesapeake. Iverson, from another of her Milita's fire team, Ak-Ak, Tibbs, Ten, Old Stafford, Sutton, and of course, Hackman. Hackman, the stony bastard, was still around and in charge. Aryn wondered if he would ever die.
Silvers and Moorse, the poor bastards, got torn to shredded lunchmeat trying to clean out a parking lot of shamblers, while the rest of them secured a pickup truck from a mall parking lot. Jaramillo got bit shortly before finding the dollar store, and gave up his gear to whomever could use it before doing The Long Walk, into the horde.
Two bike couriers from her work had managed to survive, and had hooked up with the militia group; Sam 'Skeeter' Dooley, a nasty be-dreadlocked pro-420 white guy who did all kinds of drugs and didn't seem to bathe much, and Kimberly "Power Ranger" Pagnanelli, who was Very Very Blonde and had a thing for pink clothes. Skeeter had always had a Thing for Aryn, who regarded him as a loathsome creeper.
All of their radio's squawked to life at once. "This is Acting Commander Timothy Wilcock, to anyone who may be listening to the sound of my voice. I am Enacting the Hammer Down Protocol..... " The Commander's voice then started rattling off names of pretty much every major city, but it was drowned out as Long Hard Knowing looks were passed from one soldier to another. ".... I suspect that not even God will forgive me for This." and then a slightly echoing pop resounded thru the radio. Acting Commander Wilcock had just wilcocked himself, practically in front of the entire leftovers of the world.
-
Near sunset, a cluster of various planes flew overhead. By then, Aryn and any others who had survived the mad scramble out of the city were just south of the Dismal swamp, tucking into the bush as completely as possible. Then, camera flashes of light blinked, with mushroom clouds blooming from each flash.

Christian was coming down the hill. The highway was empty for the most part. Few dead cars, few dead people. He put the pedal to the medal. Christian always liked driving fast. He liked throwing up dust and reaching top speeds. Though speed wasn't always in his favour. As he went down the road a walker stepped out in the way.
The walker hit the hood with a crack. Enough force to shatter the window and spin the car. The hood was dented, smoke coming out. Christian felt shards of glass agasint his face, little pieces digging and cutting in as he brushed them away. He tasted blood, coming from his mouth when his face smashed in to the steering wheel.
Below him he heard scratching, growling. Quickly grabbing a large piece of glass he brought it down on the dead. Piercing the skull of the dead he watched it die. Slowly he undid his seat belt. He fell hitting the roof, the car tipped over. His shoulder hit the roof and slowly he climbed out of vehicle, arms scraping along the glass.
Looking over he saw Thomas unconscious. No doubt his brother would tear in to him about going to fast when he woke up. But he had his reason to. A good reason. Slowly he undid the seatbelt of his brothers and pulled him from the wreckage as well. They'd needed a place to go, some place they could recover.
In the distance Christian could make out a building or walls. It was far off, but a spec of what it actually was. It was enough to go there. Dragging Thomas along he made his way through the trees toward these walls. He hoped to find shelter there, some place to let Thomas rest and then they could head out. Little did he know this place was filled and alive with people.
Slowly he came up on wall. He could make out towers, a person in them. The man didn't look that capable, but it meant there was more inside. As he leaned Thomas up against the wall he looked up at the tower. "Eh, you up there. How does someone get in this place." He called to the person up in the tower. His gun on his back, another one strapped to his hip.
Christian dragged Thomas along the wall toward the gate. He stopped just short of it, looking at the wooden spikes. "Hey guard tower, you mind letting us in. We were in a wreck not far from here. Mind letting us in, need a place to gather ourselves. Don't much want my friend knocked out while outside the walls. So let us in man."
The person in the towers only aimed their gun down at Christian and his brother. Christian leaned up against the wooden gate. "Come on man, really need in these walls."
"Slow down. You're gong to crash this thing," Thomas said calmly. He looked straight ahead, making sure the seat belt was secure. "Why the rush anyway? We have all day to look for a place to stop. Odds are we'll come across some place sooner or later. We don't need to hurt ourselves getting there."
His brother wouldn't listen though. He'd speed forward and get them hurt. Hit something or someone. Or he'd loose control and flip the SUV. He was wasting gas, something they barely found as it was. They would maybe find some place faster, but then what? Sit around and wait for nightfall? They wouldn't sleep, wouldn't rest. Driving was their rest. Swapping back and forth.
Christian was reckless. It would get him hurt sooner or later. They couldn't afford to get hurt. They needed each other at the top of their game. Being reckless, and fucking around wasn't an option. But he would let it slide thismone time. The dead didn't seem to be gathered on the road, and there weren't that many cars. Not many bends or twists, he could go fast, enjoy himself.
Thomas decided to get some rest. He laid his head against the head rest. Closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind. It wasn't until he heard Christian swear that he opened his eyes. A dead had stepped out on to the road. The SUV smacked into him. The windshield cracked and Thomas felt himself lurch forward.
His head hit the roof causing a bump on his head. As Christian tried to regain control he sped and skipped around. The car hit another dead and flipped. Thomas felt his head smack agasint the roof again. The warm feeling of blood dropped down his forehead as his world went black. His body Hun lifeless in the seat belt. The strap preventing him from falling in to the roof.
Thomas didn't feel Christian pull him from the wreck, or drag him across the Forrest and field. He didn't feel him lay against the wall and drag him toward the gate. He was grateful his brother had saved him, but pissed he caused the accident in the first place. For the most part Thomas was fine. Banged up, cut along his forehead.

Lila liked what he was saying about more then just whiskey in the rig. Maybe this newcomer would fit in after all. She knew that was judgemental, liking someone because they had supplies, but Donavan didn't have to know that. Skill sets could be learned but supplies were an invaluable contribution to the community as a whole.
They got to the edge of the forest when he asked her what her life was like in Texas and she happily obliged his curiosity. "My dad owned a gun store and small shooting range in Houston. I worked there up until the end and we actually stayed there for a good long time. But desperate people do desperate things and as situations got worse, so did their actions."
They got past some of the brush and she saw the rig as he pointed it out. "That's where I lost my dad and fiancee." She left it at that as Donavan took off to take care of the walkers. She pulled out her gun in case he needed some back up, but he seemed to handle it just fine on his own. Another skill set she could appreciate on top of the supplies he brought. He seemed to be elevating himself in her mind.
"Not bad, cowboy." She grinned as she pulled herself into the passenger side of the rig as he started up the engine. The rumbling made her nervous, fearing it would attract more walkers although she wasn't how many would come. "It's still amazing how many are left. You'd think, after all this time, they would be dead or starved or something. But they just keep coming, you know?" The sound of the rig being started and the engine roaring masked the sound of the crashing car close by.
As Donavan pulled out of the brush line she saw another curious site. Crossing over the leaf and stick covered road, she saw two men coming towards the gate. One man was clearly dragging another towards Sunrise and again she went on high alert. Her eyes moved to the man in the watch tower who had a rifle trained on them, but as they got closer, she could see one of the men was injured. "Shit." Donavan was going slow enough for them to take in this site but she also knew she had to get out and help while Sean was with the doctor and another injured party.
"Donavan, you stay here. Just drive the rig in. I'll handle these two. Keep your eyes open for anyone else. I don't want this to be a ruse."
When he slowed to a stop, she pulled out her gun, hopped out of the rig and immediately started towards the injured pair, pointed her gun at the one that was conscious.
"That's far enough! Who are you, where did you come from and is that man bit?" Her eyes darted briefly to Thomas as he lay on the ground before traveling back to Christian for the answers to her questions.
