Walking down the hillside towards San Simeon's airfield and stables, Stephanie used the time to think about everything that had happened to her the past few months...like everyone else, she'd thought about the events of the past day and unlike in the past, her heart really did grieve for the Scout commander. Losing someone you love, finding them like that....that's just rough, she thought, having heard all that'd happened through the Scout scuttlebutt.
Although it'd be fair for Stephanie to not care given her past history with Tegan from their time in New York, she also knew that it'd been Julie - Tegan's late wife - who had convinced Tegan to let Stephanie back into the Scouts' good graces and that was a debt the Bawlmer native knew she could never hope to repay...least I can do is pull my weight, she thought, and protect my new home. And part of doing so meant walking the grounds down to the last inch. After making sure that Jordan, Brianne and Rhode were safe and protected - and after staying by Rhode's side throughout the night - Stephanie climbed into the Airstream, dug out a stash of clothes she'd kept from months before, and got dressed in her usual attire - black shirt, black jeans and hiking boots - and started walking the grounds of San Simeon, sidearm and shotgun at the ready.
Making her way down to the stables, she could hear the sounds of people preparing horses for riding today...likely Henry and his people, Stephanie thought, turning and walking over to the stables. Knocking on one of the walls, she called out, "Hello? Hello?"
"Hello? Hello?" Pausing to look around as he and his ranch-hands stopped their work preparing the stable horses for riding, Henry undid the clasp on his holster, his Colt Peacemaker resting on his thigh. After a moment, he was about ready to pull the weapon out and have it aimed at the stable door when someone stepped through and inside.
After thinking ""Who's this?", Henry gathered his composure and asked, "Is there anything I can help you with...Stephanie, right?"

Lawrence was up before the sun even crested in the east. He was outside of the Fence hunting. With his sidearms and knife on his body and his bow in hand, he sneaked his way through the woods. His eyes peeled as he hadn't been out on a good hunt in months. -not since Quinn decided that she had enough of the life style and left him.- The sun began to raise up into the sky as light began to shine on everything. There was a clucking of some sort nearby. Carefully walking towards it, he made his way to the edge of a small field. Looking across it, he saw a flock of Wild Turkey. With Turkey, they were a tricky bird since they had better eye sight then most animals in the world. Lowering himself behind a log, he pulled out an Arrow and knocked it. With the cover of the log, he pulled back on the bow and lifted it up.
His right eye lined up the shaft of the arrow on the biggest bird there was. He guessed it was about a 32 pound bird. Letting out a slow breath, he let go of the bow string as it snapped forward letting the arrow soar through the air. It struck the bird through the head and the other birds scattered and ran off. Except for one male Gobbler who began to attack the now dead turkey. Quickly taking out another arrow, he knocked it and aimed it at the second bird. Releasing the string, the second arrow got the bird through it's breast and right through the heart. It's body went backwards a bit and laid on the ground twitching and trying to flap it's wings. Rushing over from his cover, he went over to his game of the day. Two good size birds. Taking his knife out, Lawrence did the messy work of gutting the birds but left the feathers on them for the time being. his hand reached into his pocket and he brought out his cord. Tying they're feet, he slung them over his right shoulder. He would need to get them back to the castle before he went out for more wild game.
The bloody arrows were in the quiver on his side as he walked through the brush again. After a while, he broke through the clearing and was about to walk past the stables when he heard a bunch of voices coming from inside. Going to the stable doors, he brought the Turkeys to the front of him and pulled out one of his Silent Socom .45's. Stepping through, he saw Henry with his ranch hands and Stephanie inside talking to each other. Letting out a long breath and holstering his handgun back, he would say to them. "If I was a bit more paranoid, I would have just shot through the walls. Good thing I checked first. I come barring spoils from my small hunt out into the woods. Seems like they have a healthy population of Turkey."
Before Stephanie could reply to Henry's question, they heard someone else joining them, bearing two wild turkeys that he'd caught while hunting out on the coastal range... "If I was a bit more paranoid, I would have just shot through the walls. Good thing I checked first. I come barring spoils from my small hunt out into the woods. Seems like they have a healthy population of Turkey."
"No kidding," Henry replied, leaning up against one of his stallions and tipping his Stetson back a little ways. "Must've seen a ton of them yesterday to the south in those woods just over the mountain range nearby; also saw a couple of large deer as well." Walking over to examine the birds, Henry smiled; San Simeon's butchers would have a fair bit of work to do today, he mused; going over in his mind all that needed to be done. Since arriving at the coastal castle and its' grounds, Henry had taken on the role of lead butcher, skills he'd learned and developed while managing his cattle herds back in Wyoming and he'd passed those skills down to his ranch hands, one of whom would do the actual butchering and cutting on the wild turkeys so that they stored in the Main Castle's in-ground freezer.
Stepping back from the birds and nodding his happiness at the catch, Henry said, "We'll have to go hunting sometime...guess I'm learning everyone's name today," he joked. Pointing towards Stephanie, he said, "That's Stephanie, if I remember correctly," then he pointed at the turkey bearer and said, "And you are?"

Lawrence stood there as he lifted the birds so that Henry could see them better, and so that the cowboy din't have to look down at his crouch. He gave the idea of them going out hunting sometime and mentioned that he was learning everyone's names. When he asked him what his was, Lawrence would reply. "I'm Lawrence Forest, Some call me the Candy man, and most including the boss lady call me Tracker. Ain't nothing I can't track. If it leaves a track or marks, I'll be bringing it back." Hanging his catch up on a hook on the wall, everyone was told that Henry and the ranchers he had brought were going to be the areas Butcher's. Looking out at the field, he could see the Flying Doctor's at they're craft with Sarah Lyell and Jon 'Preacher' Alister. They seem to be getting along pretty well, so he turned his attention back towards Henry and Steph.
"Well, I'm gonna be going back out soon for another hunting trip. Need to get a lot of things off of my mind. So I'll catch you all later on." Lawrence said as he tipped his black Baseball cap at them. Walking back towards the tree line, he brought out his Bow and knocked the arrow to the string. Going through, he would keep himself quiet as could be. After everything that has happened in the last few days, he needed to keep busy or the group would see another side of Lawrence that not even his brother would have imagined from the hardened hunter.

As Henry and the tracker conversed for a moment, Stephanie walked over and gently rubbed the side and flanks of one of the stallions; she admired the subtle beauty of the steed and thought it reminded her of herself at times: stern but friendly, strong but humble...just like a stallion at times, she mused.
Hearing the tracker departing, she walked back over to where Henry was at and said, "Where was I?" momentarily lost in thought..."ahh, now I remember. I wanted to thank you for rescuing me back in Wyoming during that awful fire; that's why I came down....," her voice trailing off because she really didn't want to think about that period of time.
Before Henry could reply (or do anything else, for that matter), everyone down at the stables - Henry, Stephanie and Henry's ranchhands - heard Thomas's call for the Scout team leaders to report to the Main Castle. "Well, that scotches that idea," he said rather deadpan; glancing over at Stephanie, he said, "We'll finish this conversation later; first, let's find out what the Skipper wants..."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
