....going off of this post in the Hollywood Park Outpost thread....."You sure this'll work, ladies?" Alex asked Jessica and Amy as both of them, Alex, Piers and a few others stood, looking down what had to be the most ram-shackle looking target gallery they'd ever seen; after knocking down a couple of non-load bearing walls (last thing anyone wanted was a building collapse on them), they'd hauled several hundred bags of dirt, compost and other soft materials down to one end to make a backstop for pistol rounds, while several targets were set up just in front of them. Given the distance, Alex mused, it should work, then again....
"Alright, let's get behind the barrier over there and see if our indoor target range works," Alex called out to everyone as they walked behind the counter; withdrawing her .38, Alex made sure it was loaded before carefully assuming a shooting stance, the pistol pointed downrange. After making sure her ear protection was in place and everyone else's was in place as well - no sense anyone going deaf down here, she thought - she calmly, smoothly squeezed the trigger and fired several rounds at the target, stopping only when she heard the click that signified an empty revolver. "That click you just heard, Piers, is a sound you never want to hear outside; it means you're out of rounds," pausing as someone ran down and brought the target back up to her. "Hmmm," Alex said, whistling at the target pattern, "that's not bad; I could do better, though."

Piers observed all of the re-purposing of the room and nodded as he took in all of the details, safely moving behind the barrier as per Alex's instructions with some eye wear and earmuffs to defend his eyesight and hearing respectively from the gunfire Alex soon commenced, leaving the muffs angled just enough he could hear Alex talking and barely heard the click of her gun, but took that as a sign to look for. With a nod to show he understood, he smiled and then looked to her .38 gun, then back up at her again.
"I see. Perhaps I could try? I think I need to learn the stance, though..."

"Step right up then," Alex said, stepping aside so that Piers could stand in the same position Alex had been in moments earlier. As she motioned for someone to run the target board back down to the other end of the range, she began instructing Piers on the basics of firing a handgun. "Alright, stand with your dominant-side leg back about a foot, foot-and-a-half behind the other leg, like so," pausing to demonstrate for him\ before continuing. "Once you got that, stand with your arms extended; shoulders relaxed," pausing to show him before going on.
"Now remember to hold the pistol with a tight grip," Alex continued, pausing as she loaded another set of .38 rounds in the revolver before handing the revolver to him, butt-end facing Piers and after making sure no one was in the line-of-sight of the revolver, "as tight as you can comfortably hold it, facing down towards the target," watching Piers as she added, "once you get that down, we'll talk about pulling the trigger and seeing what happens after that..."
"Figures," Alex said quietly, glancing over at Piers and the others. "Call them back and have them tell us when the supply convoy leaves there, alright?" As the radioman left, she turned her attention back to Piers and said, "Okay, now where was I? Oh, that's right: hold the pistol tightly with both hands, that's right..."

Going off of this post from "A Step At A Time"...... As everyone who wasn't on guard duty listened to the radio traffic between 77th Division and Ben's convoy, Alex took down a few notes, keeping track of the situation as it went along. "Any news yet?" someone asked.
"Not yet," Alex replied, holding up a finger so that she could concentrate on the radio traffic...eventually, she took a relieved breath and looked over at the questioner. "Its' all good; they picked up a survivor near Fremont Senior High just now," adding as she looked at everyone, "Alright, everyone, back to work..."
