Meanwhile, at the Access Road/PCH junction.....
"Explain to me again what the fuck we're doing, Bam?" Knoxville asked as half of Bam's makeshift guard team/shove-ready dig team worked building a series of guard outposts along the access road leading from the Pacific Coast Highway up to San Simeon....in particular, right next to, (a) the PCH and (b) the airfield itself. Everyone in both Bam and England's teams were in shirt sleeves, pick axes, shovels and post-hole diggers in hand, working on what - if Bam's ideas bore fruit - would be a permanent guard shack, along with forward fighting positions that could be used if necessary.
"Like I said on the way down, Johnny," Bam replied, "we're going to set up a guard shack here at the airfield and then, later on, down at the junction between the access road and the PCH; whether or not the Boss - or the other boss, for that matter - agrees or not, that's what we're going to do. This is our home now, and we need to protect it as much as possible. We certainly can't protect it sitting on our asses back up on top of the mountain, right?" Hearing no objection, Bam added, "See, that's what I was saying," pausing to grab his radio when he heard it squelch. "Yeah, go ahead," Bam said.
"Bam, our guests look to be leaving here momentarily," Thomas, the head of Tegan's PST, replied, "so look sharp, okay?"
"Copy," Bam said, adding, "By the way, how's the Boss doing up there?"
"Still stewing," Thomas replied. "I mean it, too; she's been pacing like a mad hatter the past while up here...I'd hate to think what she's thinking right now, but it can't be good, Bam. Just out of curiosity, does Tegan know what you're doing down there?"
"Not off-hand," Bam said, "and I'd like you to keep it that way, as well, if you would," causing everyone around Bam to shoot him looks of "what the hell?" as he set the radio back down. Setting the radio back down, he grabbed a shovel and said to them, "Let's get back to work; sooner we can get this part done, sooner we can rest....and look sharp; our guests are heading back down the mountain. Don't do anything hostile; just wave and wish them well as they leave."
note: (1) areas in orange are locations for guard posts at both the Airfield and the Access Road/PCH junction; (2) blue line is the Access Road and (3) the mark in black is a barricade blocking the old Access Road
