Apart from the team already on their way to Jamestown Claire realized few of them even knew her name, after all she’d only been given the position only yesterday. So she called for their attention as they gathered in front of her, her lips pursed together in thought as she quickly scanned her gaze over every individual in front of her. Claire herself was mostly unaware of the identities of most inhabitants within the stadium but she’d done her homework on the soldiers whom she would be working with for the majority of her time in their community. There was a thin layer of sweat coating her skin and her breath had only just normalized, there was an opportunity to work on her own fitness and she took it eagerly. A young woman who she only knew by name, Tanya stepped in line asking whether Claire had something for her. Claire smirked, if there were two things she truly appreciated it was punctuality and dedication. The girl seemed to have both.
Her arms folded over her chest with an appreciative nod to the men and women in front of her, the least she could do was introduce herself to them. After all, being civil with one another was a good basis to start with.
“Many of you don’t know me yet” she spoke pacing in front of them “I’m Lt. Byrne, I’m new to the community and we don’t know each other yet. As long as you do as you are told, no flimsy lies, no bullshit excuses then we’ll get along just fine. I also expect each and every one of you to be in top shape, I don’t want you going out there if you’re huffing from asthma after two blocks. I expect each of you to train whenever you’re not out there with orders” she stopped for a moment, she wiped at the hair that fell in her face before straightening her shoulders and looking to them “I also don’t want you missing a shot, don’t waste the ammunition Yankee has but if you know you have a problem hitting the target, come to me and we’ll sort it out. If I find out you didn’t come forward I’ll be sure to knock you on your ass” the men and women in front of her seemed capable, Marcus was a good leader and from what she could tell a relatively good judge of character and if he appointed the soldiers there had to be potential.
“For now you go about your business as usual, one of our teams left this morning for Jamestown. Until they come back we don’t have anywhere to go, I do however want any and information you have thus far on groups that you encountered outside the walls before tomorrow” she straightened her shoulders with a nod.
“That’s all for now. Dismissed” she told them as the soldiers quickly dispersed, she did however step closer to Tanya before she could leave “You’re about as new as I am” she noted gently, her arms relaxing to her sides “I don’t know your capabilities, neither do the soldiers you’ll be working with but I see potential in you” it was a genuine compliment and from Claire those were hard to come by “keep up the good work” she smiled briefly before turning and making her way deeper into the structure. Some time had passed and she found herself curious whether the hostage mess Craig brought to their attention had been sorted out so she quickly slipped back towards Marcus’ office, the place had been crowded before and she hoped it wasn’t any more.
Her fingers curled into a loose fist before knocking on the office door, she could always just step in but considering that Marcus had a lot on his plate for the day she felt only respectful to ask for entry. So she waited patiently folding her legs over one another not able to pin point just how many people were still inside.
