Claire huffed in annoyance looking pointedly at Marcus. She’d never willingly handed her weapons to a group of strangers who could very well turn around and execute her. Her gaze lifted to the sky and with a tired sigh she slid her weapons from her body with a glare to their leader. She held her array of guns to a nearby guard, rolling her eyes as he happily relieved her of them. Once stripped of everything that could possibly protect her from a nearby threat she stepped towards Marcus with her arms crossed over her chest and a tight lipped frown.
“I might say the same to you Marcus, who’s to say you won’t take my supplies and leave me stranded or execute me where I stand?” somehow she’d answered her own question when she saw that he was everything but a psychopath. He was just a leader concerned for the people under his care. Another man came closer to them, a stranger she didn’t know. However he was as much a soldier as many of the men around them were, the world had practically made everyone warriors even if they didn’t even understand just what they were capable of.
“Not sure how long that’s going to last” she replied when he conveyed his relief that the military was still alive and kicking, her fingers never outstretched to meet his gesture however and she was cautious to the strangers who appeared more honorable than most assholes she met. Her gaze slipped back towards Marcus, a stiff nod to the gate and her fingers impatiently tapped against her side.
“Lead the way” there was no telling what could happen but at the moment she had less of a choice than she wish she had. There were growing threats and after hearing Marcus speak about the Hive’s fall she felt her chest close harshly. She didn’t want her worry to show but she was in the dark and the only person who could possibly shed some light was Marcus, a man she’d never even met before.
