Hearing her say she would like to stay but was ready to move, he smiled back at her thinking the same. If only there had been a better opportunity, he thought, having enjoyed the moment they just had shared. However the situation was what it was and right now they had it hurry if they were to make it out of there alive, both of their lives and the others depended on it. Turning the handle of the door, they prepared to strike at the first threat they saw, but as soon they opened it and got into the hallway there was none nearby.
Quickly rushing over to the nearest room from where they had heard the gunshots, they to their surprise found Rachel slump out in front of them just as they sought to enter, seemingly unconscious from a wound she had received. Looking further into the room not far from where she lay was the body of Terry, whom without a doubt had been shot in the head after having turned. Horrified by the sight and concerned for Rachel`s health, he froze in place watching Bennet kneel to check on the bleeding wound. “Shit! Rachel. Is she, is she going to be alright?” He asked the nurse worried.
Once she turned to look at him and they caught each other`s gaze, he agreed to what was said about bringing her somewhere secluded. Trying to figure out where exactly by looking around the area wasn`t easy, but when she went on to suggest that they split up, something he had wanted to avoid, he knew deep down that they probably had too. As she stood up to await a reply from him, brushing his fingers barely with hers, he hesitantly answered with a sigh. “Um, alright, yes, let`s do this! You go, I`ll meet you at the theatre, but please, be careful.” He said and took a step closer, kissing her goodbye before reaching down to pick Rachel up.
With the sound of walkers waking up down the hall he lot Bennet run ahead, and with a firm grip underneath the unconscious girl, he held onto her with both arms as he slowly began to make his way forward. Stepping over to the corpse of who once had been Vincent, he spotted how badly ripped apart he was, with his chest torn open. Feeling sickened by the view, he turned his focus to Rachel and whispered. “Hold on girl, you`ll make it. Don`t give up.”
Then suddenly he felt someone grab his foot, followed by a hungry growl. As he looked to see what was going on, he came to realize that it was dead Vincent seeking to get a bite out of him. Trying to shake loose he lost his balance and lost grip of Rachel, falling to the floor with her. Causing a loud racket to happen, they no doubt drew the attention of others and short on time, he was forced to fight his eaten friend. In panic he kicked back hoping to get free, and in the act he ended up cracking Vincent`s skull with a pop.
Crawling over to Rachel, he checked on how she was doing and without much further delay he stood up to grab her again. In haste he ran down the hall with her, passing left and right, avoiding the walkers that sought to grab them. By the time he reached the theatre, a small horde had gathered behind him and if they got trapped then they truly was fucked. Kicking the doors open, he laid her down somewhere safe and went back to barricade the door behind them. How Bennet was going to make her way over was a mystery, but right now that would have to wait until it became relevant.
