Analia pulled on the thick straps of her backpack, feeling the weight of her weapons inside, she’d slid her gun into a holster strapped over her thigh that one of the soldiers at the gate suggested she used. It felt strange, foreign after so long without any weapons but she felt comfortable with the 9 mm tucked against her leg. The world was a dangerous place and they needed all the protection they could possibly get. The walkers along the road were thinly scattered and easily avoided, however the road was littered with old and rusted car wrecks and corpses barely recognizable. Analia rubbed her hands together before lifting her gaze to look at Jonathan who was forced into this mission as much as she was but there was another side to him that she hadn’t seen in the infirmary. There was a notable difference in the way he talked, the way he walked and the way he carried himself. He was a soldier, especially outside the safety of the stadium. Analia knew she’d been quiet, still upset that she couldn’t finish the mission solely on her own terms but thankful that she felt comfortable with Jonathan, a man she barely knew.
Her eyes drifted down to her fingertips, she looked so much more like she did before she settled at the stadium. A pair of dark blue jeans, combat boots, a grey shirt underneath a comfortable flannel shirt. Her hair was tied behind her head, messy from the wind that had blown earlier. She was more alert, more cautious and more determined than ever. A dozen different thoughts were running through her head, the attraction between her and Jonathan being one, the fact that there were more dangers outside than just monsters who had died long ago and uncertainty in how things would turn out.

Unfortunately instead of Serena (another stranger to Analia), Rachel had accompanied them even if the details were obscured from her. It didn’t interfere with the mission yet but there was a stiffness in the way Rachel greeted her, a glare in the way she watched her and tension so thick Analia couldn’t describe it to anyone who wasn’t in her position. She wondered if Jonathan had noticed? Or if he was aware why Rachel was so against Analia? There was a suspicion brewing in Analia’s head but she wasn’t sure, not yet. Marcus’s hands were full with everything happening at the stadium, Joey running out and a bunch of new faces that even Analia hadn’t really met yet. Everything was set in motion so fast that she hadn’t really had a lot of time between leaving the infirmary following Jonathan Hayes with her emergency backpack slung over her shoulder.
There was a hospital, it wasn’t close by but it wasn’t that far either so their group was enough to get the supplies. Analia wasn’t surprised when two other soldiers under orders of Ssgt. Hayes had accompanied them, actually she was much less surprised than she was when she saw Rachel waiting to leave along with them. Analia looked towards Jonathan uncertain how the entire supply run would end up unfolding. She felt the paper inside her pocket on which she’d written the supplies just in case something happened to her, the world was as unpredictable as it was dangerous and she knew from experience how quickly things could go wrong.
“You might need this” she folded the paper into a small square and held it in her palm towards Jon “just in case” she didn’t have the words to explain it fully but she’d hoped the look in her eyes was enough. Analia sent a fleeting smile towards Rachel to her left hoping that the discomfort between them could get better, there was no use fighting among one another when there was so much at stake.
