Venessa was eighteen. Old enough to know better and old enough to take care of herself should she have to. Even though she wasn't the best equip to do so, she figured she was good enough at stealth and keeping a low profile that in most cases she wouldn't have to fight much. That was her logic when she snuck off Bell Isle. Her group was already settling in, finding people, making connections all that other horseshit that Venessa didn't really care about. She was a risk taker, an adreniline junkie. If your not living for the thrills then what the hell are you living for, that was how she looked at it. She knew there were bad people out there. But there was bad people before the world died, so how was it different? The risk was always there thaty ou were going to run into an unfriendly type willing to do harm, and as the apocalypse ticked closer the world had gotten progressivly worse. There were suicided bombings, 911, the Boston Marathon bombing, school shootings, kidnappers, rapists, people were sold into sex slavery, there were hate crimes and crimes just for the fuck of it.... No, the world didn't just suddenly end. It was always a fucked up shitshow of human depraivity, the outbreak just pulled back the rose tinted glasses and made everyone stop living in denial. Venessa knew that there was a very high chance she was going to die young, and that she was going to die bloody. But, she refused to live her life in fear. So while he group got nice and cozy and settled in. Venessa was sneaking off because she did have a need for adventure. Her father, the last thing he said to her before he died was that she shouldn't be afraid to live, that she should live life and not be afraid to take chances. She wasn't and she took all the risks she felt she could get away with.
She had been under careful watch by Ellena ever since she tried sneaking off to explore that dam mall. But Ellena said it wasn't safe to go out, she had a feeling that there were walkers inside, and she was right on that one, but still; Venessa liked scavenging. It was actually fun to her, a chance to see the world left behind. The untouched rooms of people from the past, you could tell a whole story of what the people who were there before were like just by the stuff they left behind. She had a curious mind by nature and she figured curiousity never killed no one right? Venessa slipped off the Isle after Ellena had finally stopped being so cautious and allowed herself some sleep. Venessa slipped away unnoticed and was off to explore the ruins of Detroit. She wouldn't go to far, but there was an apartment builidng up ahead, that'd be the first stop, a chance to scavenge a bit and find something that could be possibly useful, entertaining, who knows? All she knew was that she was off on an adventure, and life was to short to not have any fun.
