Bryce sat down as they waited for their drinks, smiling as she described the drink. "I ordered one. You don't have to sell it to me." She was taking her work home with her and he found that to be pretty endearing. He had a feeling she knew everything there was to know about food and drinks and taking her to an exotic restaurant would probably prove to be educational.
He hadn't really answered her statement about him flashing his badge and getting what he wanted, but he knew the answer to that already. That was hardly the case. The badge was brought out when it came to getting his brothers out of trouble. While they waited for their drinks, the low thrum of music from a jukebox played in the background. He couldn't quite place the music, but it was haunting. A song he heard but didn't know where he heard it from. A woman's voice that seemed lonely as she sang to the slow, electronic vibration that swirled like a dream around them.
"I'm a Crowe, Maddie. That's all I need to get what I want. The badge is just a convenience." Although he did work hard at academy to get it. High grades, athletic abilities...it got him exactly where he wanted to go and that was directly into the force. There was a plan and a method and he executed all of it.
That's all he would say about that on his family name. Now that Jude saw them flirting together he was sure the little snitch would tell her everything about him and the family, like a gossip wagging his tongue to get a step up. Maybe Jude would accidentally become mute one day. That thought was fleeting though as he looked at Maddie and into the soulful eyes that he could get lost in. They were deep and he knew behind them was something alot deeper, like uncharted areas deep in the Pacific Ocean. He wanted to explore and get to know those recesses of bound thoughts that she kept locked away.
When the server brought their drinks, he pulled his a little closer to give her room to eat her dessert. "I told you I was full. But I'll take a bite off your fork if you need me to."
After taking a sip of his drink he watched as she enjoyed the sweet treat, liking how her lips and tongue moved across the fork. He could swear she was doing this on purpose to tease him even if she didn't mean to tease. Whatever it was though, she was luring him in with a sensual dance of words and actions. This was dangerous and he knew it but he didn't care. Right now, Maddie was the only place he wanted to be. This was her world and he wanted to live right, smack in the middle of it.
When she scooped up another forkful and offered it to him, he wasn't about to hesitate and say no. He did, after all, offer to help her out with the dessert. He also wanted to taste her lips and right now, this was the closest he was going to get to that. When he pulled the dessert off the fork he wiped a little off his lip with his fingertip and nodded with a wide grin before swallowing it down and chasing it with the sweet whiskey.
"Not bad. Pretty sweet and this drink is a nice top off. How can you work there and not weigh a ton from wanting to eat all that food?"
He always wondered that about servers. If he worked in a restaurant, he'd probably be three times as big as he was now, but most servers he saw were young and lithe. Maddie had some curves but in all the right places.
"So now this is the part where you tell me about you, Maddie. You're not at work so you don't have to put on some bullshit act to get a tip. You get to be yourself." He leaned into the table as another dreamlike song came on, faint and low so patrons could talk in the bar. He liked that. Noisy clubs were for kids. Obnoxiously loud pubs were for drunks. This was a place for him and Maddie.
