"Daddy is correct," Adolphus smiled at the child. He could hardly contain his excitement that the plan was coming to fruition--for Adolphus, excitement meant a particularly wide smile. Not much else. "As stated, I can give you a map with directions to Bear Lake. I'll have a man drop you off near the camp."
Adolphus walked over to the window, observing the desolate, barren plains below. Without looking back to the trio, he addressed them all, but particularly the two adults. "Do this for me, and I promise you...you will want for nothing in this world."
"Then when we leave now. It will give us enough time. We should arrive just in time for sun down," Lachland said putting his hands behind his back. He looked at his companions.
"We should prepare to leave at once. When you're ready meet me out front of the gates. Dolph if you would be so kind to tell this man to get the vehicle ready and the map," he said looking at the man. "If there's anything else we need to know say it. When we will receive contact, when you plan to come. Anything we need to take note of, key pieces you want removed. We will do as you command, anything you want done sir will be done."
Lachland folded his arms but held a relaxed pose. "If there isn't anything I'll take my departure now."
Holly didn't say much, she mostly listened to Father and Lach speaking. She knew her role and would do everything in her power to please him. She glanced at Lach a few times, unsure of his certainty about this whole thing. So far , he had seemed willing to back her and did his best with the girl. The girl was the variable, Holly knew it all came down to her.
When the child wrapped her arms around her, she did her best to not stiffen. She ran a hand down over her hair and wrapped an arm around her holding her against her side. She forced a smile at her Father. Lach would know exactly how much this contact frightened her. Holly was so torn. For a few moments, she had glimpsed something in the gilt. A child like quality that she found herself wanting to hold and console, but it faded and the little monster crept back to the surface. She held Cara and nodded," whenever you wish to go, I packed up a few things." She glanced at Lach, and then smoothed Cara's hair.
