Ray: Well? What the hell was that?
Wilson: It sounded like a helicopter
Ray: There are no helicopters anymore you fucking idiot.
Maddy: Mom?
Edith: It's ok Maddy we're fine.
Ellena: Everyone shut the fuck up so i can listen!
Ellena heard it too. She knew that sound. It was unmistakeably a helicopter. But how. Three years into the nightmare, who the hell has been keeping up maintanence on a helicopter this long into the game? And why? It was surely the easiest way to get noticed by walkers and humans alike. You can't always trust humans now days. In the old days. You could expect maybe one guy out of every ten to be a sociopath. Today the numbers were much greater. You had to be careful who you trusted. Ellena was prone to trust to much. She led with her heart all the time, and it was stupid, but that was who she was. She made it this far into the show with a group of civilians she rescued on outbreak day. They all looked to her as their leader..... why? Because she was military. Navy to be exact. Just the title alone of being some form of military was enough to get her elected leader of this happy little bunch. Ellena strained her ears as the helicopter sounded like it landed on the roof of the mall that they were in. She felt everyone's eyes on her. She knew that she had to come up with some answers fast. But who were they? What did they want? Did they even know that there were people inside? Ellena had lined the front entrances with corpses of the dead. Laid them out in a nice little line as a way to hide themselves from the dead and as a warning to the living. She even took som sprey paint (To which she had stocked up on recently grabbing a few cans of black paint and stuffing them in her bag) and sprey painted on the entrance. "GO AWAY OR DIE SLOW" And she wasn't kidding. If there was someone in desperate need of help. Like DESPERATE with no other choices, she'd help them and probably even accept them into the group. But for most she wanted to avoid, she was worried about keeping her people safe. They had kids in this group for god dam sake!
Wilson: What do we do Ellena?!?
Ellena: *Ellena spoke in a low tone* Everyone get inside the bed bath and beyond. And lock the gate.... Wison. You're with me.... We're going to go check this out.... Stay back away from the entrance to the store. Stay in the shadows. Stay quiet! We'll be back ok?
Wilson looked at Ellena and nodded. He was hard as nails. The only other person in the group who knew how to fight at all. Wilson was a war vet. Iraq. He had PTSD and was discharged from the army, but still. He knew how to act when he was in the shit! Ellena crouched and walked as they made their way through the store. She hadn't gotten around to getting the power on here yet. She wasn't sure if this was a temporary place or not. Most of the stores were locked with the shutters down but it hadn't been looted much, but since there were only two combat ready people in the group clearing this 3 story mall was going to take some serious time and she didn't want to put the group at risk so the process had been slow. This had only been their second day here. Now this shit. Fuck! She really hoped whoever landed on the roof was friendly. Ellena was wearing her blue navy pants, the same pants she wore most of the time. A pair of combat boots and a blue tanktop with a LA Dodgers hat pulled down low over her eyes. She had her AR 15 in her hand and she was checking every corner she passed trying to stay as quiet as possible. There was still a very good chance there were walkers in here. They hadn't cleared shit. They spent the first night in bed bath and beyond and they were going to see if they could start clearing the place today...
Wilson: You think they're friendlies?
Ellena: For their sake..... They better hope they are.
