Remy heard and listed to both Ellen and Charlie and could not understand the rationale these women had come up with. She knew they were tight and likely doing what needed to be done to protect one another and would say anything to make that happen. She wasn't so sure their motives were in the right direction. Everything the both of them said were a conflict. They brought the two they shot in to be healed, but now called it a waste of medicine and services. They would let them heal, then turn them out right away, but what was the point? Trying to figure out their motives started to give her a headache, which was probably because of the whiskey from the night before. Neither woman could speak to people in a rational tone, and the last thing she wanted was to hear them barking at more people.
She started to think about the woman she saw in the woods. She had no legs. She was tied to a tree. She was left for dead. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed that Charlie was capable of doing something like that to someone she didn't like. Even if it was someone who spoke up about the 'management' of this settlement. Instead of the girl sitting there, legless and defenseless, she saw Nate as that victim. Things were not sitting well and she wanted to talk to Luca. It seemed that Ellen was trying to take a moral high road, but that road was covered in bloody footprints to cover up an aggression that drove deep under her skin, like a heroin needle to an addict.
She left the mess hall and made a bee line to her tent.
