Remy stood there watching Jay. She caught him eye to ..eye and it made her tremble more. Jay wasn't here to calmly discuss what transpired between him and Owen. She saw that look, the way his face twisted every time he said his brother's name and the hiss in his voice as he spoke. Jay didn't know that he was saying all that to the woman that would his brother's wife one day. She wasn't about to let that cat out of the bag either.
Ellie left the room, following Jasper upstairs and she blinked as she watched her cousin follow him up. What was going on there? Either way, it didn't matter. Getting Jay to calm down was what was necessary and if Andrei didn't have the tools to make that happen, she was certain she had enough pain killers from her stash from Tulane to make that happen.
"I got pain killers if you need them." But Jasper's bag proved to be enough. Andrei found that agent needed to settle Jay down. Before he could be completely knocked out though, Jay spoke words that sent a shiver down her spine. He spoke the truth of the situation as Andrei injected the anesthesia that would knock him out. "The fuck you will, Jay."
When he was finally sedated enough to pass out so Andrei could work, she paced back and forth as Luca came down the stairs. Her breath went from calm to panic as a fingernail came to her lips, teeth nattering against it as she looked first to Luca, then to Andrei.
"I won't hold it against you if he dies in your care, Andrei." Maybe today would be a good day for Andrei to lose a patient. Maybe he was too tired. Maybe he was too deprived of his sanity to want to keep the man alive. Maybe that last threat would stir something inside Andrei that would make him not want to help. But Andrei was a passive observer that tended to stick to his hippocratic oath, no matter what the circumstances were. Whatever transpired between the brothers was likely none of his concern. The sudden guilt of wanting Jay to die before Owen came home hit her. This was not a situation she could just sweep under the rug. There were too many players involved.
She turned away from both men and as Luca spoke about things not changing she turned around with a fierce, cold stare. "Nothing is the same. When Andrei is done, we tie him up. Bind his hands, bind his legs and make sure he can't break free."
She turned back away from Luca and moved to the kitchen and laundry area in the back of the house. She needed something to make sure Jay couldn't get loose from. The pink sheet she had torn up to treat injuries still had enough fabric that she could tear into long strips. She grabbed one of the kitchen knives in the knife block and started to evenly cut through the fabric to make long, binding strips. Her heart was racing the entire time. What if Jay did kill Owen? She couldn't have it. She wouldn't last even with her family here now. She couldn't lose this...not again.
When the long strips were torn away, she started to twist them together, reinforcing the fabric so Jay could not easily tear them away in a fit of anger. With any luck, they could keep him sedated long enough for Owen to get home and figure out how to deal with it.
