"You were her best friend? She didn't talk a lot about her city friends when she would come back and visit and that wasn't very often when she started college and started getting smarter then the rest of us." Ellie smiled as he set set his dishes in the sink and helped her out.
She waited to see if everyone would come up to the porch and get their breakfast. She decided she would just leave the food out for everyone to grab whatever they wanted. However, if people were going to let their food spoil, she was going to have a thing or two to say about that.
"Owen, Amarie, come on, eat before you go. Ya'll get something in your bellies. "
Damon and Daisy didn't pay much mind to her and that was okay with her. She offended them somehow and she figured they were just sensitive people. Daisy already thought she was crazy from the trip towards the house after picking her up on the lonely road, but that was okay. She was a St. Mordeaux and everyone pretty much knew their wheels didn't always drive straight.
She moved back past Jasper, heading to the other end of the porch while Owen, Amarie, Daisy and Damon spoke about leaving and getting trailers. They needed them. There wasn't enough room in the entire house for all these people. They needed to split up somehow and she wasn't about to give up her room for any strangers. She sat down on the railing on the porch and leaned back against one of the support beams as she looked at Jasper.
"Don't worry about my brother. He'll come around. He don't do too good with change. We'll find ya'll a place to sleep at the house."
He told everyone to eat up also, just like she did and she pulled her legs back, balancing on the railing and giving Jasper a place to sit if he wanted to join her.
"It was boring. I mean, it's home, but it was boring. We partied and got in trouble to keep ourselves entertained. Them Crowe boys were always stirring up trouble with their air boat races. My daddy used to get so mad when they would race by our house and scare off the fish. I dreamed, like every girl around here, about meeting some prince charming that would take us out of the swamp and into a big city. London, Paris, New York, somewhere far away from here."
She realized she was kind of going on and on and she chuckled a bit, shaking her head. "Sorry Jasper. You probably want to hear how quiet and pretty it was here."
