Describe your character's life before the outbreak:
Before the outbreak Dalton Miller ran a sucessful dentistry practice in Oxford Maine. It was a small town up north, his patients were all local regulars and he was a bit of a beloved family doctor, but for teeth. Dalton would often casually chit chat away with the people in his chair, friendly, warm, personable. He was well liked and respected in the community. He had a beautiful wife named Barbara and a teenage daughter named Melody. As much as he was loved by his patients he was even more loved by his family. He was the very eptiemy of a family man. He often came home from work and instead of tiredly sitting in front of the television, he went out of his way to spend time with his wife and daughter. Family was the most important thing in the world to Dalton. He was raised a christian and believed that family is the one thing on this earth that you can always find happiness in.
What happened to your charcter on outbreak day?:
Dalton was at work.. He had a particularly rough morning. A lot of his patients who had came in that morning were showing up with the worst looking cavities he had seen in some time... The strange thing was.. A few of them had been complaining to him during their casual pre-check up chit chat that they had recently been bitten by some one. The new had reports of strange attacks happening and it was all just very odd. Dalton did his best to see what he could do for his patients.. All in all he had four patients that morning who had been bitten by the attackers that the news had been reporting. Each one of his patients had the same foul breath, the same distubing cavities.... Even though some of them had always had perfect teeth, they all had what looked like the beginning stages of rot in their mouths, their skin grey, pale, sweaty.... They looked terribly ill all of them... About noonish all of his appointments started no showing... Dalton decided to take an early lunch and stop over at the subshop across the street.. The shop was closed... In fact most of the businesses around his practice were closed.... There were no cars in any of the parking lots. What's going on? He wondered as he sighed and headed back to his office to find somet hing worth while in the break room fridge. He hadn't heard anything besides the recent attacks. Maybe everyone was afraid to go outside until the attackers were caught... Either way having a few people cancel their appointments and most just not showing up all together, Dalton decided to close shop for the day and sent the receptionist home.... On her way out Dalton noticed she too had a bandage on her leg, recent bite? He thought. He shrugged and went back to his office to go over a few patient records and get his busy work out of the way so he could go home to his family when his phone rang.... It was his daughter Melody. Picking up the phone he heard her paniced cries....
Dalton: Hey sweetie...
Melody: DAD! IT'S MOM... SOME GUY BIT HER!
Dalton: WHAT? WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?
Melody: We're at home dad! i'm really worried she looks pretty shaken up, i can't get her to go to the hospitle dad, she says she's fine and she doesn't need it, but dad she was bleeding A LOT she's missing a chunk out of her arm! come home dad i need you!
Dalton: I'm on my way baby! just stay with your mother ok?
Melody: Hurry dad!
Dalton arrived to find his daughter near hysterics and his wife as pale as a ghost. She looked terrible... Dalton made her comfortable and let her get some rest as he tried to calm his daughter down... He didn't know what to do, didn't know how to fix this... He just knew that the patients he saw today had been bit by the attackers on the news.... And they looked terrible. Is that going to happen to Barabra? He thought with fear in his griefing heart.... He turned on the news and watched in silence hugging Melody tight. They watched the reports of the end of the world in stunned silence...
Describe your character's life after the apocalypse:
Dalton tried to help his wife but he couldn't.. She died in their bed... She was the love of his life and he watched as she slowly perished and there was nothing he could do to stop it. He called 911 and got busy signals, he tried moving her but she was to sick to move, he didn't think she'd make the trip. He had slept in the chair beside the bed he was exhausted beyond believe and incredibly worried about Barbara.. He woke up the next morning to find that she had died.... The fever killed her and she seemed to have literally burned to death from the inside out. Her cold body still drenched in sweat, Dalton reached over and closed her eyes, then he noticed that his voice was in her hand. He slowly picked it up and unlocked it... There was voice recorded message on it. It was a message from Barbara... She must have recorded a dying message for him on his phone... Dalton began to cry as his pressed play and heard her sweet voice filing the room that had become a tomb. She sounded pitiful, but beautiful..... Dalton collapsed on the bed as she told him to take Melody to New York. Barbara had always wanted to see New York and even though she was born and raised in Maine only a short distance away, she had never gone..... She never got to lead the life of exploring adventure her heart yearned for.. Dalton had planned on taking her for their upcoming anniversary, but now she was gone.... Dalton cried and clutched her cold hand and played the message over and over again.... He didn't know how he was going to tell Melody.....
========= 3 years into the apocalypse ==================
Dalton carried out his wife's dying wishes to finally see New York, and it was there that they were found by a group living out of Riker's Island prison. They called themselves The Hive. They brought Dalton and Melody into their group and they just survived.. They lived their lives the best they could and they survived. They had been with The Hive almost since the beginning, and determined not to let Melody get bit or be put into a situation where she would be in danger... Dalton volunteered for the scouts, an elite tactical team who went out to secure new terrotories for The Hive, looked for survivors and scavenged for supplies... Dalton began training at the gun range and became proficent in hand to hand combat but where he really thrived was in long range marksmenship.... He honed his skills with a rifle and learned how to be a pretty crack shot with a pair of barretts he had taken a fancy to. He was soon recruited to Dana Dillenger's personal scout team. Dalton Miller was long range support and in charge of communications within the scout team... He made sure the radios were charged and that they always had a way to contact The Hive when out on a scout.... The Hive sent out a scout team to secure a new outpost in Fort Hamilton and Dalton's daughter wanted to become a scout and help her dad. Dalton knew that him having these skills in this world wasn't enough she'd have to learn how to protect herself, he wasn't going to be around for ever. So he had started taking her to the rang and she was a pretty good shot.. They had plenty of ammo to waste because The Hive made their own ammo. Dalton was proud of Melody and when the call came in to secure Fort Hamilton Dalton decided to bring her along and test her out in the field and if she did good, he was going to request that Dana bring her into her scout team so he could watch out for her... But when they left for Fort Hamilton, The Hive fell to a walker attack..... As far as Tegan and her scouts know.... They are all that's left of The Hive. They didn't know others escaped as they were sent out to secure the outpost... Now they head west..... Dalton lost his wife, but he still has his daughter Melody.... This is where his story picks up.....
