Charles knew they didn't have a lot of time before they left but he needed to talk to Sarah. He walked with her over to the barn while Max was up getting dressed.
"Addilyn will be coming with us and not coming back. Are you sure your going to be ok with just you and Declan? The guy seems alright but I have no clue of his strength's or his weaknesses."
He was worried about her and if he was being honest didn't want to leave her behind, but someone needed to secure the farm and he knew a mission like this would likely be a death sentence for her.
Sarah didn't look at him. She nodded her head, "I will be fine." It still burned in her. The fact that she had been prepared to shoot that girl. If not for that last minute hesitation in her aim, she would have. Sarah glanced over at Declan, "I think he and I will make out alright. We will stay busy." She finally looked at him, "It's you that I am really worried about. We haven't been apart since this whole thing began.' She reached up and touched his cheek, and swallowed hard, "God forgive me, but you do whatever you have to do to come back, to come home, alright?" She smirked aand then let her hand fall back some."Take care of Abby, I think Max will, but she isn't as tough as she pretends to be." She glanced around, then moved in and wrapped her arms around his waist, 'I know you're worried, but you've trained me well, and I need to do this."
He touched her hand as she touched his cheek and smiled. She was such a sweet person. She always seemed to know what to say to cheer him up and keep him going just one more day, and the next day, and the day after that. He let her talk without interruption before responding.
"We'll be fine, we'll stay safe. If it doesn't look doable we'll turn around and plan a different run. I will come home to you. I promise."
He looked over to the house at Abby and Max. They had only met yesterday but he already trusted them. Perhaps he had made that decision too hastily But he wanted to believe that his gut was right.
"I'll make sure the two love bird's don't get into too much trouble."
Sarah grinned at him, "yea...he is alot older than her, though, isn't he?" She raised a brow as she looked at the couple who had gotten in the vehicle. Well, it wasn't her issue to deal with. They would answer for their own sins.
Sarah stared at Charlie for a moment, "What was it that Max wanted, anyway? Is everything alright?" She only asked because if there was a problem, she felt she needed to know to be able to help. Well, to at least help Charlie with it. "You are wasting daylight." She hadn't let go of him though. She trembled a little bit, "I..." she closed her mouth and lifted up and kissed him right at the corner of his mouth.
Half of him said he should let the kiss go as it was and take off. She was rigbt, he was burning daylight, then again he couldn't think of any better use of that daylight than kissing this woman, and so, almost without thinking he pushed her against the barn and lifted her head so that he could kiss her the right way.
The hand that was not on her face circled around her waist and pulled it into him, her head and upper back still against the wall.
Sarah didn't think , she responded to him. Her arms held him tight and hands ran up his back. She pressed her hips back against his. Sarah cared for him , more than she liked to admit, even to herself. She felt her body grow warm , even in the cold morning air. She slowly pulled back to get her breath, "Come back." She whispered to him, "I need you."
Sarah slowly let go of him, knowing that if she did not he wouldn't do it himself.
He was reluctant to part from her but he knew he had to so when she separated them he followed suit.
"I will, I need you too."
He grinned. He was probably going to catch hell for his next statement when he got back but he really didn't care.
"Besides, I wasn't done just a second ago. Can't exactly finish what I just started if I'm dead."
He kissed her on the forehead and then started walking back to the group. Ready or not they were about to be on their way. He felt mostly prepared for what lay ahead but he would be full of it if he said he wasn't afraid of what they would find at Fort Bragg.
