Beckett Nole
Age:
-36 (Though hard drinking has aged him to look slightly older)
Gender:
-Male
Appearance:
Beckett's appearance before and after the outbreak are closely matched to one another, before he outbreak; Beckett was homeless. He looks as such now. His hair is long strands of black greasy tangled mess, his eyes sunken in with dark circles beneath them. Lean and tone muscle; although quiet skinny he has deceptive strength for someone who constantly looks near death. He is often mistaken for a walker with his deathly appearance if seen from a glance.
Occupation (Studies and job before the Outbreak)
- Homeless street performer (saxophone)
- Beckett has struggled for years to hold down a job due to mental illness; finally giving up on the idea of employment entirely, Beckett resides in the New York City subway station.
- Unidentified serial killer residing in New York City subway stations
Hometown (City, state, country):
- New York City, New York, US
Relationships: ( Relatives, friends etc....)
- No surviving relatives
- Imaginary friend he calls Mr. Dark (Mental personification of his unrealized dark urges)
Weapons (Currently in possession)
- Hunting Knife
- Small rusty chain (used for choking, on the fly brass knuckles)
- Saxophone (Sometimes used as a bludgeoning weapon when in a fit of rage)
Items ( clothing, backpacks, first aid kits etc....):
- A saxophone ( With saxophone case; carried around by the handle)
- A harmonica ( Kept in pocket )
- A backpack (Backpack only contains 3 bottles of water and a old bandanna)
Mode of transportation:
- On foot
List 3 or more good personality traits:
- Artistic (Musically) - In rare cases of cohearance; Beckett has traded his entertainment (playing) for a place to stay from friendly survivors he has met. In Beckett's lucid states he is not likely to fly into a rage and unleash Mr. Dark
- Openminded
- Honest
List 3 or more bad personality traits:
- Alcoholic ( His mental illness become a more dominant force in his head when he drinks; which he does as much as possible.)
- Lack of Empathy ( Remorseless for acts of violence he commits; do to Mr. Dark's influence or of his own desire )
- Mentally unstable ( Constantly in a state of flux alternating between reality and fantasy )
List 3 stregnths:
- Very gifted saxophonist ( Sometimes trades his musical entertainment for food or a group to stay with for awhile)
- Surviving for so long as one of New York's homeless population he's good at scavenging for food ( and his iron stomach; that has been forced to eat rather disgusting things to survive even before the outbreak can handle pretty much anything he can find to satiate his hunger)
- Very physically strong (surprisingly so )
List 3 flaws
- Has trouble distinguishing reality from fantasy
- Uncontrollable erractic behavior makes him hard to trust ( Basically an outcast everywhere he goes )
- Trouble conveying emotions
Describe your character's life before the apocalypse:
- Beckett was normally to drunk to hold down a proper job. Showing up late, hungover usually to the point where he got fired, or plan just didn't show up. The abuse of alcohol cost him his job and eventually his home, forcing Beckett to live on the streets. Before the outbreak Beckett was already suffering hunger and living each day wondering weather or not he was going to make it to see tomorrow. He spent his days looking for food in back alley dumpsters behind resturantes; of which he had a few favorites. He spent his nights in the bustling streets of New York City playing his saxophone, hoping to make enough money each night to buy a bottle of booze to crawl into. He relied on the kindness of strangers to get his nightly fix. Years alcohol abuse has taken a toll on Beckett's mind. At the age of 33 Beckett developed mental illness. Beckett had no one in this world that gave a dam about him, he was used to the sharpe sting of lonliness. That was until the day that Beckett began hallucinating a friend named Mr. Dark. In Beckett's mind Mr. Dark was real, Mr. Dark was everything that Beckett wanted to be. He was strong (mentally) he was smart he got everything he ever wanted. Mr. Dark convinced Beckett that he could have anything his heart desired, he'd be free if he gave into his dark urges. Beckett did as the voice in his head (though Beckett believes him to be a real flesh and blood person) told him to do. Beckett killed a woman beating her to death with his saxophone in the New York subway station. As the warm sprey of blood showered his wrinkle tired face, he had to admit...... i was freeing. Beckett got away with that murder and many more. The papers printed all the clues that had been collected of his crimes and recounted the gorey details. It was usually pretty easy to get a discarded newspaper when someone was done reading it and Beckett enjoyed reading of his nightly exploits. It allowed him to relive those glorious moments of power and control when he had someone's life in the palm of his hand he felt god-like..... unstopple. Beckett's serial killings had gone unsolved.
What happened to your character on Outbreak day?:
Beckett was sleeping in the subway that was utterly devoid of any people, when a screaming woman ran into his arms. Beckett was confused. This had never happened to him, women were usually running away from him screaming not towards him. Beckett listened to the girl cry about hideous monsters. The only monster Beckett knew was the hungry monster in his chest with the unquenchable bloodlust. Beckett felt his hand reaching for his knife. He kept it in his saxophone case. The girl was distracted by whatever imaginary thing she thought was chasing her. He knelt to grab his silver blade wanting nothing more than to plung it into her neck. Letting the pulsing beat of her heart pump blood into his face in warm soothing spurts. There was nothing like that feeling; the warm sprey of it, the smell, the coppery taste that touched his lips. His hand found the handle ready to strike, when suddenly two crazed men came barrelling out of the darkness. The woman shrieked it's them it's them! Beckett buried the knife into the face of the first man and used his foot; on the man's chest, to shove his limp body to the floor. He turned and watched as the other man began to.....eat? The lady. Cannibles ? What the fuck? I'm not even that sick, Beckett thought as more of the crazed men came running from the darkness. Beckett grabbed his saxophone case and ran as fast as he could, he ran up the subway steps and saw even more of the chaos in the streets. Beckett had imagined something like this in his mind before. If everyone in the world felt as free as him when he went on his "nightly hunts" to please Mr. Dark...... then it would probably look like this right here. Beckett ran and ran until he knew he was safe.
Describe your character's life after the apocalypse:
Beckett's life remains largely unchanged to his life before the outbreak. He spends his days looking for food wherever he can find it. He spends his nights playing music. The saxophone has always been able to temper his rage and quiet the brutal thoughts he has constantly boiling in his mind thanks to Mr. Dark. He occasionally endulges and releases his violence; usually on the dead, but has no problems killing living breathing people either. In fact he would enjoy it. It's been three years since the world came to an end, and Beckett's mind he he has hardly noticed. It's the same as it ever was, violent, brutal, survival of the fittest, only now....... No one bats an eye if someone kills someone else...... How fun!
