Abby stood in the kitchen listening. This girl had a real chip on her shoulder. She shook her as she called her a bitch too. Oh well, it was just an observation.
She leaned against the wall, and listened to how calm Sarah was. Man , she was good at this, who woulda thought that? She pushed off as she saw Max move, Oh no! She headed for the door, and walked smack into him, "Max...what did you do?" She tried to get past him to see, 'Max...did you hit her?" She gripped his arms, and pressed against his front, head shifting to look around his arm, 'So what if she called me a bitch....Max...it's just words, "
Charles was dumbfounded for the second damn time today as Max, the one who had been calm this whole time proceeded to throw a punch atv the new girl. He had considered shooting her himself but now she was inside and defenseless. This wasn't the time to be doing things like this.
"Holy hell we all need to calm the f**k down. We're all tense but if we come at each others throats now when we just meet then what hope do we have of rebuilding."
He looked at the newcomer with fire in his eyes.
"If it wasn't for Sarah you would probably be dead and not because I wanted to but because you were completely resistant to everything. I'm stepping back for a second and you can talk to Sarah. I'll still be in the room though so don't be getting any damned ideas about attacking because if you do I will put you down."
Sarah was horrified. What the hell had just happened? Max was out of control. She watched him walk out and she stepped in, and crouched near the girl, "Oh god..." she felt horrible for this, "Max....stay the hell in there..Charlie...you get over there..." She pointed to the door area. Damn, they all needed to calm down. She was staring at the girl, 'Look...we are all on edge...clearing this place and ...no one has had an easy road, alright, we all been through hell." She glanced at Charlie, 'I am so sorry he did that...he shouldn't have." She reached out to see if she could help Addilyn, "Here...let me help..let me see." Girl had been lucky Max wasn't really trying to kill her, he could ahve broken something had he really tried.
Addilyn lifted her fingers to her face and lightly touched the already bruised area. She moved her jaw in a circle a couple times then turned to Sarah and Charles
"I have no words but, that ass hole" she says it with a smile, like she half way enjoyed it "It hurts like hell, but I earned it"
The punch seemed to better her mood. She looked around to see where they went before standing again. She kept moving her jaw in circles a bit.
she smiles at Charles "I'm pretty close to dead already" she chuckles "Man, where'd they go?"

"She didn't just call you words. It was all the non cooperating crap she was doing. I guarantee you if Charlie or Sarah was doing the same thing I would have cracked them too. Yeah maybe her calling you a bitch may have triggered something. But she had no right to. You're not a bitch, least not as bad as her," Max said as he moved past Abby and took a seat at the table in the kitchen. He rested his head on his good arm. It had been a long stessfull day. He wonderdd if they'd still have time to shower and eat.
He listened to what Charles said about them cooperating. "Come on Charlie, you really expect us to bilieve you wouldn't do the exact same thing if she said or dead anything to Sarah. You're no different." He leaned back in his seat. "Even now you just admitted you'd kill her for touching her."
When Sarah yelled at him to stay in there he just chuckled. She had about as much authority as the sinners burning outside. If he had trully wanted to he could have killed the girl with the punch. He just wanted some sense knocked into her. He looked into the living room, the candle light casting shadows that danced on his face. Yeah they were all on edge, they neede to be. That was life now fucking hell.
He perked up when the girl spoke. Apparently it worked after all. She was willing to cooperate jus like that. He didn't like it, she gave in to fast. Maybe she was just scared, he'd be too in he shoes. He'd offer her a decent meal tonight, make sure she was good and fed. Abby and him had a decent meal yesterday, he didn't know when this girl had eaten last. Who knows maybe he'd even share some of his moonshine.
Abby moved and stood behind him at the table. She rubbed her hands over his back. She knew he hurt, his arm must be aching with all he had done today. She sighed, "Max...calm down." She didn't like him this way, it worried her. She listened to Charlie and Sarah talk to the girl, and that got Max going again. Damnit. She leaned against him, 'Look..let's just go upstairs...get those showers, then come back down. Maybe by then they will have stuff figured out, and we can eat?" She was trying to distract him, to help diffuse the situation. She ran a hand through his hair, 'Come on...bet a hot shower will help your shoulder feel better." She smiled at him, then started for the kitchen door. She was going to go straight up the stairs, not interact with that girl no matter what she did or said, she told herself.

Max just smiled at her when she began to rub his back. He knew she was trying to help. It was working and he smirked at her remark of the showers. It did sound very pleasent right now. It would help him relax. When she took off Max followed. He aswell didn't stop to say anything to the girl or to Charlie and Sarah. He didn't even make eye contact with any of them. Once he hit the stairs he climbed them after Abby. "I'll definetly need help undressing," he said motioning with his sling. "Think you can help with that allstar? Might need help with it in the shower too, can't lift it very well." He said the last part was just to tease her. Who knows maybe it's work. "Sure is dark up here," he said as he felt his way down the hall. "Anyone could grab you and you wouldn't know who," he said as he grabbed Abby's side, giving it a squeeze. Once they reached the bathroom he opened the door and held it for her, "are there any candles up here?"
Abby was proud of him. He had totally avoided the girl. She walked up the steps ahead of him, and jumped as he grabbed her side. She glanced back at him, "You are bad, you know that?" She grinned at him.
Once they got up the steps, she headed to the left, to the purple room. She clicked on the light and the room light up. It was just for a few seconds, then it was back off. "Alright...found one." She moved into the bathroom, and chuckled. There was a little night light plugged in already. She still sat down the candle and reached in her pocket for the lighter, 'here...let me untie the sling, and help you get your shirt off...then I think you can handle it." She moved him over and put the seat down on the toilet, then pushed him down, so she could untie the sling. She opened the linen closet and took out a towel and wash cloth, 'Alright, now your shirt...and you should be good." She looked around, "wonder if they have any asprin or muscle cream up here?'She helped pull off his shirt, then opened the medicine cabinet. She grinned, "Um...well...they got Midol...a couple tylenol and this is, 'she squinted to read the label, 'darvacet..."she looked at him, "what's that?"

Max squinted as the light came on. Then blinked when it was turned off. He sat down when she pushed him. After untied hid sling he moved around the arm, wincing at the pain it still caused. He let her remove his shirt, looking down at ugly purple colour on his shoulder. "Sure you don't want to help me shower," max asked smirking at her. "It might be relaxing for you." When she stated listing the drugs in the cabinet he looked up at her. "It's a painkiller," he said holding out his hand. "Can you get me some of those and the Tylenol." He leaned back and looked up at her. His hand rubbed her leg as he smiled to himself.
He he was starting to really like her. He was willing to risk his well being for her. He didn't know how to show it, but he guessed the punch was an example. "You have great legs. Anyone ever tell you that?"
Abby had felt horrible when she saw the bruise again. That was part of why she went looking for pain killers for him. She opened the bottle and shook out one of the darvacet and then closed it. She reapeated with tylenol, but shook out two of those.
She stared at him and raised a brow, "Great legs...yes, actually...I was on the track team, Max., but if you mean...sexy...then no, and how you can you even tell, i am wearing sweats." She turned on the tap and got him some water in the cup after rinsing it, 'Here...take these.." she grinned and shook her head, 'You should probably eat soon, taking those, and no shine tonight." She gave him the sternest look she could make with him rubbing up her leg like that, 'Maybe I should sit in here, just in case...Or I can leave the door open and go in the room." She stared at him, concern on her face, "I don't know how that's gonna affect you."

"Just a hunch," Max said still rubbing her legs as she shook out medicine. "Feel free to prove me wrong." He smirked as he took the pills swallowing them all in one go. He left the water, he didn't know how clean it was, and didn't need it. "We'll eat right after this. Maybe some jerky as a pre meal snack." When she said no moknshine he frowned. "Aww come on, whats the worse it could do. If I'm not having it no one is either." He felt the stern look and gave up the fight, "fine no booze. That's means none for either." He stood up form the seat, letting go of her legs. "If you want to stay that's fine I shouldn't be long." He began to unbuckle his pants. It was dark enough that most everything would be shadowed, as the light mostly flickered up to his chest. Once unclothed he opened the shower and climbed in. It was a shower tub combo with just a curtain to pull closed. He turned on the water letting the coldnes shot his skin. "Oh yeah feels good," he said as it began to warm up. "Jealous I get the first shower here," he asked. He found some kind of body wash and used that to lather his body. He realized his body was probably fully visible in the shadow on the curtain.
Charles was seething but he did as instructed mainly only because she was right. He needed to back off for a minute Before he snapped and ended the situation for good. He heard her comments but just shock them off. He really just couldn't handle any of this today.
He actually wanted a growler to show up so he would have something to take his anger out on, even for just a moment. He looked at Sarah, trying to show a little bit of remorse to her. He couldn't let her think that he was just cold but with his blood boiling it was hard to think straight.
If he was telling the truth he understood what Max had done and the man was right, he would have likely done the same, or worse, had their situations been reversed. He could play the diplomat but in his core he was convinced that the diplomat was not who he was. He had watched and ensured those people were eliminated had he not? Could Max have done that? He didn't know, but what he did know was that neither Sarah or Abby could have. They were good people, he was not and maybe that is what this world called for. It required people to not be good people to survive. You had to make the tough decisions that others could not.
"Why?" He asked in a mutter.
Why did he have to be the one to make these decisions and if he was going to be the one making these decisions, why did it haunt him so much. What difference did it honestly make when he was still going to be pushed and in the moment choose the morally hard choice.
"Whatever, for now we need to get things done. No use in trying to deal with it all tonight."
"You," he said, pointing at the new girl.
"Since it looks like your staying your going to have to help out. This is our home now and anyone who stays pulls their weight."
He had wanted to propose a run today to the group over dinner but with the chaos of the new arrival any chance to do so had flown out the window.
"If we're going to settle here we need things. Things that we can't get in small towns. I have an idea but we'll talk about it in the morning when tensions aren't running so high."
Addilyn sighed standing her cheek and part of her jaw were and purple-red color but her eyes were bright and alert.
"Where'd..um.. Abby and....Max go?" she asks like she cares "Do you guys need food, water, supplies?"
She looks around it was pretty empty. "I can go get my food, and stuff" she offers hoping to get away from the chaos a bit. She rolled her sleeves up, then seemed to realize something and rolled them back down a couple thin scars visible for a brief second.

Abby turned around, "Um...I will go in the bedrooms and see if I can find you any clothes." She was not able to handle this, it was fast. She went into the bedroom they were going to share and rummaged in the drawers and closet, and found mostly female clothes. Abby frowned and then went and stood in the bathroom, listening, making sure he was alright. She hadn't argued about the booze, why would the rest of them drink without him.
She headed into the other room, and started going through the drawers and found mens socks, and some boxers. She held them up and wasn't sure if they would fit him or not. She grabbed them anyway, and moved to the closet. She flicked on the light long enough to find some sweat pants and a man's thermal shirt. Hell, it was better than nothing.
She went back and sat the stuff on the toilet and let him know she had found some thing, "Hey, I got some clothes here for you, and if you are alright, I am gonna take your dirty stuff down and maybe do a load of laundry." Oh god, how normal did that sound? Clean clothes....this was almost too good to be true.
Sarah looked at Charlie, "that sounds good, we all need a good meal and to just take a night to chill out." She looked back at Addylin, 'They went upstairs....Abby is getting him to calm down, and I think it best for you to stay clear of him for a little while."
She stood back and gave the girl some room. The way her attitude shifted worried her and she glanced at Charlie, "Alright...no...we have some supplies and this house still had some stuff in it, but if you feel you need your things.." SHe didn't know why she hadn't brought the things with her.
Sarah pointed to the kitchen, 'ok...I am going to head in the kitchen and start some dinner..Charlie, can youlight the fireplace and bring me in a few candles to work by? I wanna see what they have in that pantry." She looked at Addylin, "You can come help me....we don't have ice, but we can put a cool rag on your face, the water works." She could hear the sound of water from upstairs, 'I think they will be down after they bathe." She headed for the kitchen.
"No, I'm going to ask you not to leave this house tonight. Not only do I not trust you, it's dark and all the yelling may have brought growlers. It's just something that we can't risk right now. If you leave this house I will not let you back in again."
After he had addressed Addilyn he turned to Sarah.
"Yeah I can take care of the fire for you. We brought some firewood in earlier."
It was relatively easy to get a fire going and just sitting in front of it was one of the best feelings in the world. He loved a good fire and sitting there in front of the fire calmed his nerves. He watched the fire pick the wood like little ravenous tongues. He sat there for a long time, letting the problems of the day figuratively melt away in it.
Sarah froze in mid step as Addylin started yelling and freaking out.
She stood in the kitchen doorway. What the hell was the matter with her? She couldn't see Charlie, and stood there, staring. "Calm down!" she held her hands up, 'Look...you need to get control of yourself!" she didn't know if Abby and Max could hear this, and sorta hoped they would come back down and help deal with this kid.
Sarah glanced behind her, 'The utility room...the cellar...you can go down there...heck...there is a barn out back." She was trying to keep this from escalating, 'but you gotta calm down." She had heard what Charlie said, and if the girl went to the barn , he wouldn't let her back in here and it was getting colder by the hour.

Max listens when she came in. "Yeah I should be fine. Just a shower," he let the water hit his face and soon began to see the room spin. "What's the side of those drugs allstar," he called from the shower. "Think they're taking effect." He turned off the shower, the knob spinning each time he tried to grab for it. He tryed to step out and slipped. His legs went from under him and he hit the tub hard. "Fuck," he said as he tried to get up, only to slip again. "Why is the room spinning so much." He grabbe onto the edge of the tub and tried to pull himself up. He ha banged his site shoulder in the fall. Grabbing onto it he laid there.
He had been watching the fire when another situation came up that he had to respond to. He heard yelling in the hall and once again he had to respond. He ran into the room and tried to see what the hell was the matter. No one had touched the woman and yet she was freaking out. He got a notion of what was wrong when Sarah started suggesting places she could go to be alone.
"Look, it's ok in here. If you need to be alone go down into the cellar. There should be a light if you need to use it to see. You need to calm down and I get that."
He grabbed Sarah and pulled her into him, trying to comfort her and keep his own anger in check. This woman was freaking him out and he was intimately aware of how much he wanted to pull out his weapon and put her down. Hopefully she would take his advice and go down to the cellar so he didn't have to deal with it anymore
