"CHARLENE! CHARLENE! WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER!?!" Brett crouched down and stared the man his eyes. Gripping both sides of the mans head. "My child I am saving you from yourself. For I am the messiah here to save you all and bring a better tomorrow."
Jamming the syringe into the mans neck Brett injected the man with the orange substance inside. The man fell over next to his wife. "Brother Vlad take these two lost souls into the van." Brett placed the two used syringes into his special metal carrying case. It was easy to hide and reveal whenever he needed his special medicine. The giant Russian dragged the two mumbling bodies into the back of the van.
"Brother Vlad please assist me on a quick search of the area. I get the feeling we're not alone." The Russian grunted. Picking up his heavy crowbar he followed Brett as he walked past broken cars scanning the area as his followers spread out.
BB adjusted the ghostly mask on his face. The warmth of his breath had caused the area around his mouth to become more moist than the rest of it and the cold air made it feel cold. Still, they had eyes on a bunch of people in the streets. One of the scouts had reported that the area in and around the Denver Convention center was occupied by people. Being somewhat in charge of intelligence gathering; BB was sent to find out who or what. But as usual, he was ordered not to kill anyone by Adolphus. This time however, he was inclined to follow that order. They needed more manpower to attack the Bear Lake settlement and needed to recruit fresh fodder for the cannons.
BB stuck his head out for a quick peek before ducking down again. He nodded at the men ducking down beside him to which 5 of them appeared from behind a car wreck.
"Hello there folks!" BB said in his usual casual manner. "Nice day for a stroll isn't it?"
The men appearing out from behind the car made the members of Brett's commune take aim. Quickly Brett held up his hand and their weapons lowered. "Well now. More survivors?" Vlad moved anxiously unsure of the new comers. Brett studied them as his smile stayed warm and friendly.
"My name is Brett. I am the leader of the community of the Second Sun." His voice confident and strong as he watched the new comers. "I take it from your outfit. You're from the water building. Aren't you?" Brett had been trying to get into the Bear Settlement unsuccessfully. He's also kept an eye on the barbarians in the water building.
BB was a bit surprised to hear that they knew where they came from. But still, he knew better than to underestimate people. He now knew that he probably shouldn't try and pin something up this man's sleeve. The man, who had introduced himself as Brett, probably knew more than they first anticipated. And even though he acted like a complete maniac, BB was smarter than people gave him credit for.
Brett remarked something about it being obvious that he came from the water building by his outfit. Did his outfit just screamed 'bad guy' then? If so; there was no point in pretending to be the good guys. BB knew what he had become during the apocalypse and embraced it; it had kept both him and Céline alive. Still, this Brett was exactly the guy they were looking for. Now they could start with making nice with the cultists just like Uncle Adolph had ordered them.
"You are correct, we're from the water building; or as we call it; Gripsholm Castle." BB answered. "My boss has sent me out to look for you and your people. He wants to discuss an alliance."
BB gestured with his hand to his henchmen to come forward. They brought a crate and put it down in front of BB. BB opened it; in the crate lay five AK-47 assault rifles.
"This is for you." BB said. "Considerate a... corporate donation. You can keep these even if you decide against coming to our stronghold. But if you do decide to come talk to our boss; we can offer more like this and other sort of weapons and supplies."
BB kept a friendly disposition about himself. These people were a means to an end, the end being the capture of Bear Lake. And he intended to follow through.
Brett's gaze didn't waver from the man. As the crate of weapons was opened Brett stared at the man. Vlad made a grunt and Brett looked at the weapons. An evil smile spread across Brett's face. "I suppose an alliance can be formed. Tell your leader I'll be there tomorrow." Vlad closed the crate and dragged it towards their waiting truck.
The machine guns would be useful for the cultists. Since they were armed with pistol, rifles, and blades they new weapons would make a welcome addition. "I will arrive with a pair of escorts as I do not wish to enter an unknown area alone."
It seemed BB was going to get into Adolphus' good graces again as the cult leader agreed to meet them the day after. BB gave the man a friendly nod and smile, although the smile was hid by his mask. Now all the old man had to do was come to an agreement with these people and they'd have their cannon fodder.
"Please do." BB answered. "We will look forward to the meeting."
BB then handsignaled his henchmen to round up. It was time to go. One of them opened a nearby garage where they had hid the armored truck in which they came.
"Until tomorrow then." BB said, to which he and his henchmen took their leave. Adolphus was going to be pleased.
