Describe your character's life before the apocalypse:
- Dean grew up as an only child. At a early age he knew he wanted to be an actor. His friends at school called him Hollywood because he talked about movies constantly. As he grew up he took film classes in college. He grew impatient;however, feeling like his opportunity would slip away from him unless he acted quickly he dropped out of school and made his way to California only taking with him an old cassette player and his dog.
Dean was actually successful in Hollywood, to an extent. He landed the lead role a low budget horror film about a man fending off an alien invasion with nothing but a crowbar. Was it goofy and absurd ? Sure, but the film had gained cult classic status amongst some avid movie buffs and it was enough to land him more gigs in the b movie horror genre. His career wasn't exactly where he wanted it, but he was acting and content for the moment.
Describe what happened to your character on Outbreak day:
- Dean was on set shooting a scene for Aliens took my second wife, the sequel to film that made him a semi- celeb on outbreak day. In the scene the rubber prop crowbar was replaced with a real one so Dean could bash the skulls of prosthetic aliens filled with fake blood. Everything seemed fine until a car came crashing through the set. A few crewman got hit by the car but Dean managed to avoid harm.
The driver of the car was dead( He had a heart attackbehind the wheel ). The producer tried calling 911 but only got a busy signal. Outside screaming could be heard. The day had gone from routine to pandemonium in a matter of minutes. A crewman, who was checking on the driver screamed as the driver suddenly grabbed and sunk his teeth into his face. The two spilled out of the car and fell down near the set. Out of instict alone Dean crushed the driver's skull with the crowbar. And instantly felt sick. Cast and crew poured out of the set only to be greeted with chaos. A woman who was was struck dead by the run away car stood up on a b broken leg, with a broken neck and chased people in the street. (The dead don't always reainmate within minutes but it happens sometimes.) Dean ran home, his apartment was only two blocks away and he ran all the way there. He locked the door, and turned on the news and listened to the broadcast in horror. He had seen buckets of fake blood before but nothing like that..... Nothing like that.
Describe your character's life after the apocalypse:
Dean kept indoors locked in his apartment for the first few weeks. He had plenty of food, but when the food ran out he began scavenging neighboring apartments for supplies. Everyone else in his building evacuated to find their loved ones, wanting to be with them in the end. Dean's loved ones were all dead. He wore his dog's old collar as a morbid bracelet, in sick irony the name tag dangling on the tag read "Lucky" And Dean supposed he was lucky, he was breathing afterall. After awhile the broadcasts stopped. A short while later the electricity did too. Dean spent his nights staring at a family photo and listening to a cassette player. Dean packed a backpack intending to leave his apartment for good.
It was starting to feel like a tomb. Dean took his backpack and set out looking for people ......
