Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-
Yvonne was sworn in as a Detroit police officer three years before the outbreak. She was born and raised in Detroit and felt a fierce loyalty to the city that everyone always seemed to dump on. Her family lived in Michigan, in and around Detroit. Her parents had a cabin on Lake St. Clair, on Walpole Island that they often went to when they were kids. She loved being outside on the lake and on the water. Her father was also a police officer who retired and started his own private investigation company. About three months before the outbreak, Yvonne suffered an injury on the job, which was a gunshot wound. It only grazed her and she was okay, but her father insisted she be taken off the streets. He had the upper hand with her superiors and she was moved to the 911 dispatch center.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-
Yvonne was working another 12 hour shift as a 911 operator when the calls started coming in. One by one, the lines lit up and the calls were starting to come in. Attacks in homes, attacks in offices, attacks in the street. It started to escalate to the point where they couldn't dispatch officers and emergency workers to every call. The city went into a quick decline.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-Yvonne grabbed what she could, although she felt bad hording anything to herself at the police station. Most of the gear was out anyways with the street officers but there were a few weapons and some riot gear left behind. She grabbed a gas can, extra clothing, gym water bottles and whatever food she could get from the vending machine and hit the road. Roads in and out of Detroit were nearly blocked with rioters as the national guard came in to take control. The police had become the enemy and as she tried to get out of the city, her cruiser was attacked. The drug dealers were starting to rule out in the open and it was her full belief whatever was going on came from new drugs on the street effecting people to the point of complete chaos. She wanted to get to the lake house, but instead headed west and ended up crossing over the border into Illinois where getting stuck in Chicago was her next adventure.
